The Dragon's Thunder ------------------------------- by Elements of Desire Part III ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Present time Crystal Tokyo, Astrology center? "You liar, you cheater, you no good, back-stabbing, bastard, you?" She swore in every language she could think of at that moment, and all he could do was stare at her, enchanted by her beauty and totally ashamed of himself, not really understanding why. Her eyes crackled with anger, like angry lightening in a storm, he thought bemusedly, as she continued to shake him. "Why I ought to slap you silly for cheating on me like this!" Finally deciding that this had gone on long enough, he rested his hands and rapped them around her slender wrist to stop her from throttling him any farther, which left her gapping at him in surprise. Using her surprise as a moment of advantage, he gently, but firmly pried her fingers away from his, now, crumpled lab coat. "My name is Nephrite, Dr. Nephrite." He said, acting as if nothing had happened, and thinking that he actually did need a good throttle to snap him out of whatever trance he had stuck himself into. Shaking her head slowly, she finally relaxed, as he let go of her wrists. "Where's the mad woman?" A guard yelled out as he rushed into the door, that is, before he run into a wall when he saw Makoto standing there looking at him, puzzled at his outbursts. "Her." The secretary pointed, as she put her head in her free hand, sighing in disappointment, does all the men react that way to her? She thought in distress. "Me? A madwoman? Are you crazy?" Makoto asked startled, and began to laugh. "Don't you know who I am?" She finally pushed down her mirth at the people that surrounded her. For there were now three security guards lying one on top of another from crashing into the same wall or tripping over each other's bodies when they entered, the secretary who was still holding her head in her hand pointing at her, and her stargazer smiling at the men in bemusement, the ones that were laying on the ground that is. "Who are you?" The secretary asked, looking up at her, a spark of annoyance shinning in her eyes. Startled at the woman's hostility, she looked to her stargazer to find him looking back at her questioningly. Stepping back, she opened her purse, everyone in the room tensed as she pulled out her wallet. Opening it for everyone to see, she state, smiling sweetly, "My name is Kino Makoto, personal body-guard of Queen Serenity, as well as the Chief Chef of Crystal Tokyo. I am also owner of the famous chain-restaurants Kenji, which is named after my dear late husband. Any questions?" She asked looking around to see the shocked faces of the people around her. "You're the personal body-guard of 'the' Queen Serenity?" The secretary gapped, no, not this beautiful and yet psychotic woman. "Hai, oh, the badge was a gift from my good friend Hino Rei, I worked on a case with her once." She said smiling. "'The' Hino Rei?" "Who else?" She frowned, and turned back to Nephrite, "Well, we're on the subject." She said, before pulling back her free hand and slapping him across the cheek. "That's for cheating on me." She said, eyes misting slightly. "Do you know how long I've waited for you?" She asked, the earlier anger ebbing, somewhat. "Three thousand years! Imagine being celibate for three-thousand years! And the only time I was ever serious about anyone was at least Five thousand years ago, before my Kenji-chan died from old age!" She glared at him. "How old, exactly, are you anyway?" He asked startled at the beautiful and fiery woman before him. "Baka! Didn't your mother teach you to never ask for a woman's real age?" She asked as she whacked him on the head. "She does have a point Dr. Nephrite." The secretary said with a nervous smile. So Naru-chan has competition now, and a very beautiful one at that. "Some soul mate." Was all the secretary heard from the muttering auburn haired woman, standing over a dazed Nephrite laying on the floor. "So many stars?" Was what he kept saying dazedly, as he stared unfocusedly at the ceiling. "Nephrite-chan?" A red-haired woman asked questioningly, as she stepped into the marbled entrance of the laboratory, "Are you still here?" She asked, as she stepped into the darkness, the only light came from the moon outside, but she was able to enter since Nephrite had programmed the lock before to answer to her voice. "Nephrite?" She asked again, as she stepped forward, for a moment she thought she saw a shadow disappear into the laboratory room itself, so she followed hesitantly, even though apart of her told her that something was not quite right. "Lights." The blinding light came on, surprising her so much so that she jumped. "Who-Who's there?" She asked frightened at the prospect that danger was nipping at her very heels. "Is that a who, or is that a what?" A being stepped forward, then retreated, then forward again, weaving in between the light and the dark. It's voice chuckled, yet its form was still unseen, the only thing she could tell was that the ripples in the between the outline of the figure and the rest of the room. "Why are you here?" She asked, backing toward the entrance, but the shadow swiftly moved and wrapped tiny invisible hands around her. "Why are you here? Why are you here? Why are you here?" It laughed. "You don't belong here or there or anywhere." The tiny tingles came, and then she felt it, an icy touch on her skin. Screaming in fright she struggled, pain shot through her back as she stumbled toward the entrance, blood splattered onto the white marble floors, the walls and the windows. The gushes in her back hurt immensely, and just when she reached the door. "Now, now, little girl, let me have my fun. Girls are fun, girls are fun, girls are fun." It's voice deepened as a masked face appeared, beautiful actually, painted in the color of deep gray, a blue dropped tear on its left cheek, silver fringes around dark hollow eyes, purple star symbol on its forehead, one that was so distorted at the ends that it swirled as it rapped their long purple fingers onto the surface of the mask. "Give me pain, give me pain, give me pain," It shrieked in laughter, as the silver claws finally came into sight, slashing into her flesh. "Give me fear, give me fear, I like to feed upon your fear." The laughter never ended as she stumbled around the room, gasping for help and trying hard to stay conscious enough to try to get away as the ghostly beautiful figure danced and chanted, like a fairy, only it longed for torture of that of the living. "Why?" She whispered, as the pain radiated through her being as she was about to collapse from the pain. A silent pause came and for a second she thought she was alone again, that she was safe, but the silver claws that bit into her flesh, piercing through her slight form, trembling in ecstasy at her shock, her pain, her fear. And finally, before her last breath ended, it leaned closer, pressing its porcelain face into her once pretty face, her blue eyes widened in fear, her red-brown hair plastered to her face from sweat and blood, gaping at it, as it whispered the final words that she heard before her death. "I-want-your-" it twisted the claws imbedded within her, making her whimper in pain, she had no more energy for screaming, not anymore. "-soul." It laughed as her eyes glazed over in fear before the last sparks within them disappeared. "May death find you a peaceful sleep, while you lay within my grasps, may death find you a lullaby, to rock you through my pits, my nightmare hell!" It laughed wickedly and insanely, before the lights flicked out, and the silence resumed, the only sound being the dripping of blood onto the floor, as she laid in her own marbled tomb. The sirens stopped ringing, but the lights kept flashing just as two women stepped out of a sleek-black, hover car. "By the Gods!" One whispered, her dark hair spelt over her shoulders in curls, held back by a thin thread, away from her face. "Hai, I can smell the fear still!" A darker-haired woman said beside her, though the second woman was at least half an inch sorter than her friend; she had more experience with these types of things. Grabbing two pairs of gloves from her bag the latter handed her friend the other pair, but gave her a warning look that said 'don't touch anything.' The woman nodded in understanding before the two headed toward the door. "Open." The woman said, and the door automatically responded with a click, there were definitely rewards in being the head of defenses and the head of security in Crystal Tokyo, everything in the city was programmed to respond to her voice, anything that didn't would be illegal and destroyed as soon as they find the owner and discover the purposes of the device. "Rei-chan?" The dark-haired woman asked, before the other silenced her, and reached in her bag again to produce to face masks, handing her the spare one. "Mako-chan, this can wait." Rei said, as she approached the police car closest to the door, and threw her bag on the car. Opening her dimensional pocket she took out her communicator. "Hai?" A sleepy voice could be heard. "Don't wish to intrude on your sleep Ami-chan," The former said with a smile, but the seriousness could be heard in her voice. "But we've got a homicide here, and it looks to be the worst I've seen in a thousand years, prepare to analyze whatever body part we are able to come up with, I don't trust the others." Clicking the communicator closed before the other could answer she motioned for Makoto to join her again at the door, checking to see if Makoto had put on her gloves or not, she cautiously opened the door and the two stepped in. "Careful." She said, as she reached out with her senses for evil. None, but there was a signature of it, a residue, she could fell it at the back of her mind. "Okay, guys, the coast is clear, you can put down your guns." Everyone relaxed a notch. "Lights." She said to the onboard mainframe, one that was constantly on, there were two gasps, accompanied by a scream. "Oh my God!" The two women turned to see a dark- auburn haired man, similar to the color of the chocolate haired Makoto, but who was staring past the two women in shock at his laboratory, and not just that, at who laid there, dead, and staring right at him. Her red hair was now limp and soaked with blood, a color dull and yet painfully bright to him, but it was her expression that forever was embedded into his mind, "Naru-chan!" He screamed as he ran towards her. "Stop him." Was all Rei said as the cops rushed toward him, but he passed them easily. "I'm sorry Mako- chan, but you will have to do this, I don't have the time." Was all that the dark-haired woman said before turning and walking into the room, leaving the brunette to contemplate what to do, and how to stop him with minimal pain, for both of them. But she knew that he could not grasp the seriousness of the entire situation at this point, just like when her mind was fogged when she found her parents had died without her. She stepped away from the gruesome scene and walked toward his approaching form, he tried to go around her as she stuck out her arm and hit him on the chest knocking him down to the ground, with lightening speed after years of practice, she produced the cuffs and hand cuffed him to the nearest poll she could find. "Gomen nasai Nephrite-chan, but this is for the best, I know you probably won't understand now, maybe never, but if you go in there now, and I don't stop you, Rei-chan might never find out who her murderer is or will we be able to prevent this from happening again." Nephrite glared at her as he tried to struggle with the cuffs, but it did not help. "Leave him for now Mako-chan, I have something I want you to see." The auburn-haired woman looked concerned and got up and ran into the blood-spattered room. Feeling somewhat glad that she wore the mask to keep out the smell, but the atmosphere was oppressing nonetheless. "Look at this Mako-chan." Rei said worriedly, and pointed to the wall. She gasped, unable to believe her eyes. 'This is for you, my beloved Makoto, for your happiness.' It was edged in blood, Naru's blood, her soulmate's girlfriend's blood, "No! It can't be, I didn't do this Rei-chan, you've got to-" "I don't blame you Mako-chan." Her friend smiled at her from behind the mask, and though the other could not see it, she saw the warmth seep through into those hard onyx eyes, ones that were always as hard as ice whenever an investigation like this came up. "We at least know one motive of the killer now." She stated with a smile. "One? Do you mean there could be more?" She gasped. "Hai, and I'm afraid Crystal Tokyo would not sleep easy in the next few nights, nor us for that matter, a homicide this is, and it will stay so till the murderer is found. The murderer will be found." Rei frowned, the coldness came back as she looked to the wall. "Who can do such a thing?" She asked in disbelief. "You'd be amazed Mako-chan, you'd be amazed." The senshi, reached in her pocket and came forth with a small pentigon like object, clicking it open, she set it in the air, as it hovered. The two stepped out of the room and Rei closed the door, before she reached in and took out a rectangular slate like thing. The two stepped away from the door before Rei finally commanded the object from outside. "I want 3-D image control, texture control, signature, everything, power to 100%, and now!" She told the thing, as a brilliant white flash appeared in the room. "Data complete, collected 100% accuracy, all Data complete." The machine answered five minutes later. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Isn't it intense?!
