Okay, for those who had read "A Simple Touch" then this is the first part of the fanfic I was talking about that might never see the light of day for some time. Okay, this fanfic starts a little before the S season before the inner senshi meet Haruka and Michiru. My younger brother, the author of Nexus, helped me go over this to check for errors. We tried to catch them all but we were tired and we may have missed a few. (That should be enough of a plug for his story, hmm? ^_^) Corrections and criticism are welcome. Enjoy! -Firestar (Firewynd@aol.com) Warning. The prelude has nothing to do with Sailor Moon at this point. It's a prelude. That's why. ^_^ Actually, the association with Sailor Moon begins in the next chapter. A Touch of Chaos Prelude: Chaos begins it's dance "Yui, he's running down the wrong corridor," Chilo yelled to her partner. "I know!" Yui yelled back. She dodged the people standing in the corridor in her away. "Get out of the way please!" she screamed at the bystanders. "Vince, where the hell are you?" Chilo asked into her communicator. "I'm trying to get Ariana free," a male voice responded. "She got caught in one of his double shielding spells. You know how those are." "Yeah," Yui replied, running beside her. "Trap the person with one shield and use another to make a cage, trapping them completely. Be careful on getting her out, they can backfire easily and we'll be one knight less." "I know. Be careful yourselves. Alex and Alan are on their way to help you two." "Good, we need the help. He's stronger than I thought he would be," Chilo replied. They turned down another corridor and picked up the pace. Luckily for them, this one was just about empty of people. "Get Jake to cover Alan and Chilo. We don't need a firestorm to break out," Yui told Vince. "I can control myself," Chilo replied indignatly. "Not too well when you are mad," Yui replied. "Okay. Be careful, you two." With that, he turned off the channel. "Helli!" Chilo shouted. "What?" the auburn haired woman yelled from behind them. "What is he after?" she asked. "You saw him before we did." "I don't know," Helli admitted. "But he is powerful, I can feel it." "So can I," Chilo muttered to herself. They stumbled to a stop when they came to a three-way split off. "Where...?" Yui panted. "Chilo?" she asked, turning to look at the silver-haired Elf beside her. Chilo stood still as she concentrated. "He's still heading the wrong way.. To the left," she told them. Chilo took off at a run down the left corridor. "She isn't even breathing hard," Helli complained as they followed after her. "One advantage over us," Yui replied. "Why are you two considering the way he's going to be the wrong way?" Helli asked. They went wide around a corner, trying to avoid the security helping two injured people. "Casulties," Yui muttered. "Hmm?" Helli asked. "For someone who's trying to escape us, he's not heading for anything that can help him. The shuttles, any docking ships, or anything." They both skittered to a stop just before they ran past a halted Chilo. "What's wrong?" Helli asked quickly. She and Yui were already panting from the exhertion but Chilo looked like this was just an afternoon run for her. "He's using a spell. I can feel it.." Chilo told them. "It's strange. Like he's searching for something." "Where?" Yui asked quickly. "Forward about twenty yards, to the left," she told them before taking off again. "Helli, I don't think your cards are going to work against him." "Why for?" Helli asked. She was already pulling one simply decorated and two highly decorated cards out of her pocket. "There's something blocking the way..." Chilo stayed silent the rest of the way as they ran. They stopped before a large door blocking the way. "This is one of the ways to get to the garden areas of the station. Why is he here?" Helli asked. "We're about to find out," Yui remarked. She punched in a code to open the door and cursed as it just beeped a negative at her. She looked at the code pad again. "Chilo, have a try at it." "Okay," Chilo said uncertainly. She stepped over the pad and put in the code again. It beeped again and she tried another code. She tried several more wrong codes before accessing the mainframe from the console nearby and trying it from that way. "She's always pretty good at this stuff," Helli commented as they watched. "He's blocked it with a simple program and a few magic blocks but I can get through it," Chilo remarked. After the code pad beeped a positive, she closed down her access and walked to infront of the doorway. "Yui, when I say the word, type in 32589 on the code pad." "Alright," Yui said, positioning herself in front of the console. Chilo held her hands together infront of her face and murmured a few word that sounded ancient. Yui watched her uncertainly but waited for her to tell her "Now," Chilo said. She pulled her hands apart and placed them on the door. Yui typed in the code quickly and stood back as they both began to glow. "Chilo?" Helli asked concerned. Chilo pressed her hands against the door and then moved them outward. The doors opened, showing them the leafy expanse of the station gardens. "He's straight ahead," she told them. She took the lead and walked along the pathway inbetween a small park-like area of forest. Shrugging, Helli and Yui followed. "So nice of you two to bring the destiny breaker with you," a man's voice told them as they came upon a clearing. "Who are you?" Yui asked defensively. They looked around the clearing and saw no one. "My name is Second Lt. Vanix Ravela. But, you can just call me, Vanix." The man laughed. "I must say, it is so nice of you to bring her to me. I need a channeler like her." A man wearing the same midnight blue uniform with violet trim as they were finally showed himself by appearing right behind Chilo and grabbing her. The dark brown hair was streaked with bands of white. "To conquer Earth." "Chilo!" Helli screamed. "Chilo!" Yui yelled. She summoned her crystal sword in an instant. Wielding it, she yelled, "Let her go!" "I'm afraid not," Vanix replied. He clamped a hand over Chilo's mouth and tightened his hold on her hands. "So long." He began chanting in quick sucession, holding Chilo still as she struggled. A glow surrounded them, growing brighter by the second. His voice grew louder with each line of words. Helli pulled out another card with her free hand. She was about to throw it at him when Yui stopped her. "Helli, no. I'll do it," Yui said quickly. She ran to them but Helli had to shade her eyes to see what she did. But, all she saw was Yui putting a hand on Vanix before them and the light disappeared completely in a blinding flash of violet light. Helli stood there stunned until she heard Alex, Alan and Jake calling for them. "I'm right here," she called. They arrived shortly after she said that. "Where's Chilo and Yui?" Jake asked, a dark haired man wielding a wicked looking sword. "I don't know actually," Helli admitted. She pointed to the spot where she had seen them last. "That's where they were." "You mean they're gone?" Alex guessed, his long blonde hair tied behind his head. His sword was more different than the others, involving both crystal and metal in the blade. "Tell us what happened, Helli," Jake told her. "Vince isn't going to be happy at this." "Well, I'm not happy either," Helli argued. "They're my friends, too." "Sorry, Helli," Jake apologized. "I'm worried about them." He turned to the last person in their group. The red-haired man nodded and looked around the area. He let his simple sword flash back into nothingness. "I can't feel them anywhere, Jake," Alan told them. "Not even a trace. They where here along with a very powerful person." "You mean Chilo, right?" Alex asked. "No, the feeling's not the same," Alan clarified. "It's very masculine. And not as powerful as she can be." "The guy's name is Vanix Ravela," Helli told them. "He called Chilo, the Destiny Breaker. How many people know of that second name for her?" "We'll find out soon enough," Jake remarked. "Alan, go back and tell Vince what you felt. We'll go find out what we can about Vanix." "Okay," Alan told them and ran off down the path. Both Jake and Alex let their swords disappear and turned to Helli. "Alright," Jake announced. "Begin at the beginning please, Helli." * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * "There is an invariable rule in mens' battles.
