My Life as a Sailor Scout As I looked out my window, I wondered if Darien would ever like me again. Was he doing this for my own good, or just because he didn't like me anymore ? I had no idea. I felt pretty silly being jealous of little Rini. After all, she was only a little girl, but memories were sparked when I looked into her eyes. Something about my past was there, something I knew when I lived on the Moon Kingdom. I had new friends now all working on my side, and I felt very privileged. I was becoming more mature, not much as a crybaby as I used to be. I was stronger, braver, not as clumsy, and smarter. I guess that's what I get for having a friend like Amy. She's the greatest, but sometimes a brainiac. However, I like her just the way she is, super-intelligence and all ! Raye still lives in a shrine with her grandpa, and obviously, he still has a soft spot for beautiful women. Sometimes I wonder if Raye can't stand him, because he's so nosy ! Lita, that tomboy...still loves volley-ball, and plays like a guy ! If it weren't for her, I would probably be in traction right now. (laugh) Mina, superstar. I have no idea how she can go to school, and be a star at the same time. Guess it's in her blood. As for me, I wonder about Darien. Maybe it was for the best. But, what's wrong with him ? Luna crawled up on my bed. "Oh, hi, Luna !" I said, cheerfully. "What's wrong, Serena ? Are you thinking of Darien again ?" she questioned. "You know everything..." I said, almost darkly. She knew what I was thinking of. I think she knew more than that. "Luna, I know we are a part of our own Kingdoms, and I am the Moon Princess, but what does Rini have to do with all of this ? How does she fit in ?" I questioned. "If I tell you, promise you won't go berserk !" she said. "She is your daughter in the future, and Darien, well he's your husband.", she said. "You mean to tell me that Darien is not only Tuxedo Mask, but Prince Darien ?" I asked, fearing her answer. "Yes." , she sighed. "Oh, my word." I whispered. I never knew it. Luna and I sat in silence for it seemed forever, then the phone rang, giving me a scare. "Hello ? Who's this ?" I asked. "Oh, it's just Rini, your "cousin". Can you come out to the playground with me ?" she asked. "I'll have to ask mother...After all, it is summer, I should have some fun. " I said. So I asked mom, and she told me "yes", so I went to find Rini in a playground near by. I loved to hear her laugh. She had changed so much since the last time I saw her. "Where's Darien ?" she asked. "He never wants to see me again. He said it was for my own good." I sighed. "Oh, no !" she cried. "What is it ?" I asked, looking in her eyes. "I just realized...He's my daddy of the future. He is who I have been looking for ! And you, are my..my...mommy !" she sobbed. She hugged. "Oh, please don't cry. I'll forgive you for your past. Let's look toward the future." I said, stroking her pink hair. She stopped crying. "OK ! Let's go talk to him !" she said, excitedly. "Uh, Rini...I don't think that's such a good idea..." I said. With all her strength she grabbed my arm, and dragged me to Darien's place. I feared the worst would come. He would slam the door in my face, I could just feel it. I knocked on the door, and Darien froze when Rini said "daddy", and hugged his leg. "I remember it now, Serena. How could I forget my darling meatball head ?" he questioned. I sighed a sigh of relief. I couldn't believe it. After all this time, Darien remembered. He knew who he was. I was so happy to have him back. However, we couldn't let this information be overheard by the Negaverse, for they were watching....We could sense that. "Well, Serena. How about some ice-cream ?" he asked. I knew he was back for good ! "Why not ? How about you, Rini ? Would you like that ? " I said. "SURE !" she said, hopping onto my back. I carried her, she was so light...and she loved to piggy-back ! We got my favorite flavor, CHOCOLATE, and just talked about how our summer was going ! Anyway, I had to go home soon, but I knew I would be spending more time with Darien and Rini. Also, my friends were bound to join in. They would always be there for me. I went back home. The phone rang again. "Oh, HI ! Raye, how are ya ?' I asked. "Well, I just wanted to know...How's Darien ? Does he ever want to see you again ?" she questioned. "I just saw him today, and that opened my eyes ! He remembers everything !" I answered. "Well, what do you know ! You know, Chad has changed. He's not such a washout anymore. He's really a good musician ! It proves that education helps, since he took some more education, but he's out of summer school now, thank goodness." Raye said. "Hey, do you think you would like to go to the pool with Darien, Rini and me tomorrow ?" I asked. "Well, sure. Grandpa would let me, since he trusts me so much. I'll tell the others ! I'm sure they would like to go too ! " she said. "OK, well, I'll see you tomorrow. 'Bye." I said. "'Bye." she said. This summer would be truly memorable. Everything was the way it should be. If there was to be any evil to wreck our summer, we'd stop it, for sure. But, for now nothing stood in our way, and we were going to have fun like normal teens. By: Elizabeth Berndt June 9, 1997 NOTE: This fanfiction was an idea I came up with after watching the episode of Sailor Moon, where Darien decides never to see her again. If I was writing the show, this is how it would end. Enjoy this "different" ending ? If you would like to critique me or comment me, send me e-mail via this address: tberndt@scican.net
