Author's Note: Okay, this isn't really a story, it's more like an idea. I was watching "Bad Hair Day" for the umpteenth time and something about Serena/Usagi tossing and turning in bed gave me an idea. I was wondering what poor Darien/Mamoru would do when he and Usagi first slept together (and I do mean sleep). I figured the poor guy didn't know what he was in for. Then an idea came to me. Hence this story. At first, he wasn't sure what had awakened him, but then he felt it. Her form shivered in his arms. Careful not to wake her, he shifted in the bed. He wrapped his arms tighter around her and pressed his warm body against hers. She moved only slightly as she snuggled in his loving grasp. He sighed contentedly as she buried her face in his chest. Unconsciously, he began to stroke the back of her head. Slowly he moved his hand around to caress her cheek. Deeply, he inhaled her scent, her warm, fragrant scent. It felt so good to feel her close to him, to feel her hot breath on his chest as she exhaled, to feel the beating of her heart. He wanted to hold her like this forever, hold her close to him. Just then, the downpour increased and thunder rolled across the sky. Usagi shifted in his arms in response to the crashing thunder. Mamoru held her close, gently kissing the top of her head to calm her. It worked and Usagi settled back into a sound sleep. Mamoru smiled to himself and silently hoped, for Usagi's sake, there wouldn't be much more thunder tonight. Usagi had matured a great deal in the years since he first met her. Her grades had improved and she had easily passed her high school graduation test. Her punctuality had improved too, although she was still late sometimes. Maturing hadn't meant that she changed though. She was still the same vibrant, happy, innocent girl who had hit him with her test paper. Other things had remained the same too. Namely the occasional clutz attacks and her extreme dislike of thunder. Another crash of thunder sounded, but when Mamoru looked down, Usagi seemed to be sleeping peacefully. Now that was something that had changed drastically, at least according to Luna. Mamoru had to smile as he remembered the horror stories Luna had told him. The day before the wedding, Luna had warned Mamoru to get a good nights sleep, since it was the last he would probably ever have. Considering the things he'd heard from Chibi-Usa about Usagi thrashing her in her sleep, he took Luna at her word. Both he, and later Luna when she moved in with them, were surprised at how peacefully Usagi slept now. She slept deeply and calmly, moving no more than the average person did in sleep. Not long after they brought Luna into their apartment, he had overheard her asking Usagi about that. Luna had demanded to know why Usagi had tortured her all those years, as she smacked the poor cat around in her sleep. He clearly remembered Usagi's explanation. She told Luna that she hadn't realized how scared and lonely she felt all those years. She tossed and turned in her sleep because she was restless, missing something vital. Now that she had Mamo-chan to hold her and make her feel safe and whole, she slept much better. This simple statement had made his heart soar. He knew Usagi loved him, but it felt good to have it confirmed, to know she truly needed him. Mamoru brushed his lips across her golden hair one last time before closing his eyes and drifting into a peaceful sleep.
