Hello, this would be a first submission for me. It isn't my first story, but I like to get it out to see what people think about my writing. I don't own the character in the story and I'd like to thank everybody that has inspired me... Wait, that would be longer than the story... Oh well, THANKS EVERYBODY Anniversery (G) by Jay Cameron email jaycameron@hotmail.com Looking up into the night, the quick flickers of light from the Aurora sends a shiver down Makotos back. The cold slides down her arms and sends goose bumps up her legs. She raps her arms around her chest and gives out a sigh. Her breath rolls out and slowly lifts into the night sky. She looks around only to see an empty park bench and lamppost with a flickering light. She sighs again and walks over to the bench. Makoto rubs her cold legs cursing to her self for not wearing pants. She just had to come out in a dress. Her arms were fine under the long sleeve green turtle neck but her knees and cafes were starting to get cold. She looks up again to see to see a couple walking up the path. Arm in arm they talk and laugh together. Makoto pulls her dress over her knees for more warmth and stairs at the ground as they pass. She touches the small bundle that she placed there earlier and picks it up into her lap. Makoto gets up and walks over to the shore of the lake, only a short distance away. It is cooler over there, but it is more peaceful and quieter. She looks up again and watches the northern light play with the full moon and the dance with each other. She has always loved the Aurora borealis. It gives her a feeling that there is something more than the sometimes mixed up life she leads. Softly, her watch beeps. Makoto bends over and slips off her shoes. She walks down the shore on the freezing pebbles and starts walking into the water. It is so cold that her feet go numb instantly. She continues up to her knees and stops. She looks at the bundle and peals back the soft crate paper. Carefully she pulls out two roses, putting the paper under her arm. "Mom, Dad, I love you. I still miss you two. I will always remember what you taught me so long ago." A tear starts to run down Makotos cheek. "It's your anniversary today. I brought you a present. I know that this isn't where you..." Makotos throat sepsis up and she has to cough to force air out. "your plane crashed but it is the closest water and I..." Her eye start flowing with water and she starts to sob "know how much you two loved to walk along this lake." She bends down putting the roses in stem first. As she lets go they softly slide into the dark water and quickly disappears into the darkness. Makoto gasps and starts to run out of the water. She splashes water everywhere, getting her dress wet and dropping the crate paper into the water. She runs up on to the shore and grabs her shoes. She stubs her toe on one of the rocks but doesn't feel it, as her feet are still very numb. She runs through the field and towards home, not looking back. Being pushed by the wind the Crate paper floats out into the lake. Slowly it is swallowed up into the lake. Leaving small rings. A stiff wind blows up stirring up the water, erasing any evidence of anything being there. ************************************************* Thanks for Reading.
