Hi! Acacia is here once again! First of all, all of the people who helped me so much with my work, Bettina and Guine-chan. Guine-chan writes her own stories, and her name is Lady Guinevere. Her story, (one of my favorites!) is called, "Ami's Diaries." It's really good, and I'm being assured that some really good parts are coming up. (hurry up already, Guine-chan!) I couldn't have help up so long without you! And thank you SO much for the HTML help. I hope I've got it figured out. Hey Bettina! Thank you so much for your lovely letters! I love reading them, and I hope you like reading my short (sometimes REALLY short) notes! Thank you Bettina, for you comments on my work! Disclaimer: If Sailor Moon belonged to me, I wouldn't be writing FANFICTION, now would I? On with my hopefully good new story! -------------------------------------------------------------------- In Your Heart- Chapter One By Acacia Aben -------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter One A woman hurried down the steps of the temple. She clutched her coat close, and looked anxiously around. If any one of them saw her, they might be able to identify her later. Her long red air that reached nearly to her knees flew behind her as she broke out in a run. Relief engulfed her as she got farther away from the building. She reached the bus stop that was close by, and sat down on the bench. She pulled out a pad of paper, and quickly wrote down a note, muttering softly to herself. "Raye Hino . . .positive identification . . . .black hair . . .violet eyes . . .away from home at time of attack . . noted to disappear at strange times and refuse to talk about it later." She looked up and smiled, satisfied that she was correct. She looked at the other people she had written down, all confirmed identification. "Mina Aino . . Lita Kino . . .Amy Anderson . . . .Serena Tsukino Chiba. All confirmed. One male, Darien Chiba. Confirmed also." She grinned suddenly, elation overcoming her caution. At her side, a phone rang, startling her. The bus drove up just as she answered her cell phone. She climbed on the bus. "Hello?" She made her way to the back, glad that no one was around. "Poppy?" A voice boomed out of the phone. "Did you get it. Your deadline ends in five minutes. If you don't have it, you're fired." Poppy swallowed hard. "Yes, sir. I've got it. The best story you've ever seen." "Well, what is it? I'm not getting any younger. We need some news, or we're out of business." Poppy grimaced. "Sir, I have the Sailor Scouts' identities. I have it confirmed, sir." Silence was her answer. Then the booming voice returned. "Poppy, I told you. The Sailor Scouts do not exist. I know you really believe that they really are heroes, but they are just people who are fooling the world." Poppy lost control. "They are not! I have proof, anyway. Same facial features, everything!" A huge laugh. "What kind of proof is that? If you weren't my daughter, I'd have never hired you." "But Daddy, this time I know I'm right. I've found conclusive evidence. I found a couple of transformation wands when I was sneaking through the houses, and I've found pictures of the Scouts. One, Mina, who I've identified as Sailor Venus, has kept a scrap book of everything ever written about the Sailor Scouts. She put her comments of what she thought of some of the more ridiculous stories, and the comments the scout the story was about made." Silence reined again. Then- a little quieter, "Well, Munchkin, why don't you bring your notes in, and I'll look at them, okay? You might be on to something after all." A click, then he was gone. Poppy Neice smiled brightly. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Jared Neice pored over the meticulous notes his flame-haired daughter had carefully wrote down for the past year. It had only been in the last week that she gotten a great lead. She had followed Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask after a fight, and hadn't gotten very far, she would admit that, but she had gotten a fairly good estimation of where the two lived, whether it was together, or just near each other, she had no idea. She had narrowed down all the girls in Tokyo for each Scout. It was fairly easy to check through them to find out who of the suspects lived in that area, and even easier to narrow the field down when she discovered one of her applicants, Serena Tsukino Chiba, was married to a man that looked an awful lot like Tuxedo Mask. Her husband, Darien Chiba, had been her boyfriend for about as long as Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon had appeared. Jared looked up with a smile. "I think you were right. This is pretty convincing stuff. I find it pretty hard to argue with. Munchkin, this is good. I'm so proud of you!" Poppy blushed. She knew that underneath her father's gruff manner was a heart of gold, but it took a great thing for him to show it. "Thank you, Daddy. I wasn't sure at first, but once I had determined the identities of Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask, it was fairly easy to work my way from there. All the other scouts were close friends of the couple." Her forest green eyes glowed. Jared smiled. "This will be in tomorrow's papers, assuming that we can get decent shots of them in and out of their uniforms. The Chiba's wedding picture, perhaps. Are any of the other Scout married or engaged?" Poppy considered for a second. "Well, Sailor Mercury has a serious boyfriend, but that's all. Sailor Mars may or may not have a boyfriend. I wasn't able to determine her relationship with a young man she knows. But other than a few dates now and then, all of them are single." Her eyes brightened. "But I may be able to provide the pictures. To make sure who they were, I collected various pictures of the Scouts. I have the wedding picture, the others too. No problem." She looked down. "I wanted to find out more about the other Scouts, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Pluto, but I couldn't turn up any leads, and no one's actually sure if they exist, or if they are just rumors. I've never seen a picture of them, and even though I checked out any possible candidates, I couldn't come up with anything. If they do exist, they aren't around here anymore. Plus, there haven't been any claims that they have been seen anytime lately. I decided to just not mention them. It's doubtful they are real. Probably just stories made up by hopeful people." "It's settled, you're getting a raise. Definitely. You are going to be the highest paid investigative reporter in this city." Jared gave a booming laugh, his wavy red-brown hair shining. "The Tokyo Tribune is going to be the most talked about paper in the city!" Poppy's own red hair, a glorious mass of fire, shimmered. "You can bet on that. You can bet a whole lot of money." -------------------------------------------------------------------- Serena Tsukino Chiba woke up with a huge yawn. Beside her, her husband Darien Chiba slept soundly on. She giggled. It was rare when she woke up before him, because Serena loved to sleep. She never woke up before noon. She looked at the clock. It was twelve 'o nine. She smiled. It wasn't surprising that she had woken up before him, because he had been out late working. He was a doctor, and when a large car crash, injuring seventeen people, happened. He had been called in, and had worked far into the night. Serena leaned over and sweetly pressed a kiss to his forehead. "I love you, Muffin," she whispered quietly. "I'll love you until the end of time." Darien's eyes fluttered open, and he smiled, a sleepy smile, one that Serena loved. "Hi, Meatball Head." He blinked, and looked at the clock, than smiled again contentedly. "I love you, Serena." She giggled once more, and kissed him softly, on his lips this time. He kissed her back with passion. She pressed back. Suddenly, without warning, she frowned, and sat up, moving away from him, and getting out of bed. Darien smiled inwardly, knowing the reason. But he still asked. "What's wrong, Serena?" She had just walked out of the room. She stuck her head back in, a pout on her pink lips. "I'm hungry. I want breakfast, and you know how long it takes me to make pancakes." Darien grimaced, just tasting them in his imagination. Serena was still a terrible cook, even after cooking all the meals for almost a year now. He sat up. "Wait, I'll make them. You just sit down at the table, okay?" Serena's twinkling laugh sounded from the living room, because she knew he would offer to make them. "Okay, Muffin." Darien smiled, knowing he had been tricked into making pancakes when they could have just had cereal. But he didn't care. "I'll be right out." --------------------------------------------------------------------- Serena sat in the big comfy chair, trying not to fall asleep in it. If she fell asleep, Darien might eat all the pancakes. He had done that once, to make her mad, but then he had made some more. It was Saturday, and neither of them had to work. She was a waitress at a small diner, mainly because she hadn't finished school. They had gotten married when she was eighteen, and Darien twenty-four. He had just finished up college. He had went through medical school at an excellerated rate, of which she was very glad for him. She closed her eyes, trying not to fall asleep. She failed miserably. She fell asleep slowly. BRING! The doorbell chimed. Serena jerked awake, and she could smell pancakes cooking on the stoke, and Darien humming softly. She called out, "I'll get it, honey. Don't move." "Okay," Darien hollered. She rubbed her eyes, and got up to answer the door. She walked over, and unlocked the door, then she opened it. She smiled brightly at the woman standing in front of her. "Hello, can I help you?" She looked a little anxious, like she was afraid of something. "Well, actually, I wanted to give you something. You are Serena Chiba?" Serena nodded, her clear blue eyes wide. "Yes, I'm Serena." The woman smiled, and looked down, causing her mass of flame-colored hair to fall over her shoulder. "Well, I work a the Tokyo Tribune, and I wanted you to be the first to see. I even had to deliver the first paper to you. I suggest you look at it very soon." She reached into a large bag at her side, and pulled out a newspaper wrapped in brown paper. "Here." Serena reached out and took it, smiling slightly, a little confused. She started to open it, only to be stopped by a slim blue-white hand. She started, surprised at how pale her skin was. It was translucent, so white it seemed to have an icy- blue sheen. "Wait until I'm gone. I want you to open it after I leave." Serena frowned, looking up into the mysterious woman's forest green eyes. "Well, sure, I guess. But I don't even know who you are." She hesitated a split second, retreating back into a sad place in her mind. "I'm Poppy. Poppy Neice. Pleased to meet you. This is a special edition, and it doesn't come out until three today. I suggest you look at it soon. Very soon. Maybe I'll see you again sometime." Poppy turned, then stopped and turned back. She smiled at Serena, then turned and walked away. Serena shook her head in confusion, then closed the door. "Muffin?" She didn't hear a response. Serena went into the kitchen. "Muffin? The weirdest thing happened. Some strange woman was at the door, and she gave me this. It's a special edition of the paper, but she said she wanted me to have it early." Darien smiled. "I'm sure it's just nothing. We'll look at it later." Serena was relieved, and slowly the brown package slipped from her fingers to the floor. She reached up and kissed her husband, then skipped to the table where her pancakes were waiting. Darien raised his hands in surrender when she dug in. "What am I? Just some person you use to get pancakes?" Serena smiled, her mouth too full of cake to answer. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Poppy looked around the building, then quickly pulled the hood of her coat over her head. She sighed, relieved that she had gotten away with it, and her father hadn't guessed that she was doing this. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Serena. But you had to know that your secret would get out sometime, right? Right?" Poppy walked briskly down the street, heading back to her apartment across the city. She quickly reached the park, and decided to rest, and think about the scouts. Amy Anderson. The famous child genius. A girl that was renowned for her down-to- earth no-nonsense explanations about unexplainable matters. Otherwise known as magic. Everything could be explained with science. Sure, what with her magical powers, and all. She had a longtime boyfriend, Greg Johnson. Excelling at her doctorate college. In a year, she would be a doctor. She had went through college at an excellerated rate. Raye Hino. Aspiring singer, temple priestess. She might have a boyfriend, a young man who worked at the temple, a very rich man named Chad Peterson. His parents had died in a car crash and he had inherited all of their money, which was a lot. Her best friend was Serena Chiba, although they argued a lot. Lita Kino. Orphaned at a young age, she had lived alone since she was thirteen. Twenty now, she was studying to be a chef at a prestigious school. She was the best student in her class. She already had great offers for jobs, but closer investigation had revealed that Ms. Kino was saving up extra money in an account to pay for a restaurant of her own. Her best friend was a man by the name of Ken. Poppy wasn't sure if they had a romantic relationship. Mina Aino. Trying to be an actress, and basically flitting around doing all sorts of things. She went on a lot of dates, but had no serious boyfriends. She was in an acting class, and doing well, but she was missing quite a few classes for no reason. She was aiding Ms. Kino in her restaurant savings. Ms. Aino was going to work at the restaurant as its manager as soon as it was opened. And, finally, Serena and Darien Chiba. Married the year before, they had been a couple since Serena was fourteen. Serena was a waitress at a local diner, a very nice establishment, and Darien was a doctor at Tokyo Hospital. He was one of the best, making good money. It wouldn't be long before Serena wouldn't need to work, with her husband earning enough to support both of them with much to spare. Amy Anderson; Sailor Mercury. Raye Hino; Sailor Mars. Lita Kino; Sailor Jupiter. Mina Aino; Sailor Venus. Serena Tsukino Chiba; Sailor Moon. Darien Chiba; Tuxedo Mask. Poppy slumped down on the bench, feeling a rush of emotions go through her. It had been her dream since she was sixteen years old, when Sailor Moon had first appeared, to find out their real names, who they really were. Not because she wanted to know them , not because she idolized them, but because she needed to know if they were just regular people. If they were like her, only with special gifts. To believe in people again. It had become her obsession, her dream. Her own unreachable objective. The one thing she wanted, and would never get. Everyone has dreams in life. Most can come true. But there is always one that seems insurmountable. Only, on this one thing, for this one person, it would come true. Only this once, things had gone right. It had taken her five years to find them. She was twenty-one years old. Twenty-one. She felt ancient. To old to contemplate the effects of her great discovery. But outside, she was only twenty-one. It wasn't like she had to face any of the things people would say, of how the girls and one man would be treated. She would be the same, never changing, except that her goal, her one dream, had been reached. She would have nothing to do. Poppy wiped away the tear that was trailing down her face, not understanding why she was crying at all. She had lost her mission. Her purpose for living. Poppy sat for what seemed like forever. Then, after so long, she looked at her watch, and smiled, a sad sweet, detached smile. It was three 'o one. "Time to start the discovery. Time for people to find out." --------------------------------------------------------------------- Amy Anderson walked down the street, holding Greg's hand. "What do you want to do? We have the whole day, I don't have any classes." Greg shrugged, and answered, "well, it doesn't really matter to me. We could-" "Special edition of the Tribune. Major news! Everyone wants to read this!" A loud voice yelled from across the street. A young boy ran around, handing people papers, telling them it was fifty cents. He made his way across the street, and stopped in front of Amy and Greg. Amy smiled slowly, and asked a question. "What's going on?" The boy grinned. "Big news! Someone found out who the scouts are! The sailor scouts, and the Tribune gots 'em! Right in here." He patted the bag at his side, full of papers. Amy choked on her words. Greg took over, quickly fishing out fifty cents, numbly. How could he not have seen it? He could read the future. Once the boy had run off, he opened the paper, glancing at the pictures, and freezing when he saw the pictures of his Amy and her friends. "It's true. They have you as Mercury." She snatched the paper from his hands, skimming quickly. "How did they get this information? How did they find out? We were so careful, and our disguise power hides us!" Greg frowned. "You'd better get hold of Serena and the others." Amy nodded, and pulled out what seemed to be a small calculator. But that wasn't what it was. Serena's face appeared on a small screen, and she smiled. "Hi Ames! What's going on?" Amy said softly, "have you seen the special three o'clock issue of the Trib?" Serena frowned. "No." Then she brightened. "But some woman came over earlier, and said that I would want to look at it soon. I didn't get around to it. Why?" "You should look at it now." -------------------------------------------------------------------- Serena looked at the communicator in her hand, and frowned. Then she shrugged. "Okay, sure. Whatever." Amy's voice sounded strained as she answered. "Look at it NOW!" Serena walked over to the brown bundle on the floor, and picked it up, fumbling with the wrapping, before she finally got it open. Her heartbeat increased, and she wondered what was making Amy sound so upset. She unfolded the paper, then dropped it. "Oh, my god! How, Amy?" Amy's face was white. "I don't know. I just got the paper. It's big news, Serena. People are going around selling them all over the place. The Trib has got to be pleased. But how did they figure it out? I don't know how they could." Serena heard Greg yelling in the background. "Hey, you! Stop staring at her! Just go away!" "Amy, why is Greg going berserk?" She looked behind her quickly, and when she looked back, her face was rueful. "People are staring at me, and the picture in the paper. People are wondering if I'm her. So, everyone is staring." Greg's face appeared behind Amy's, his brown hair ruffled. "We've got to get out of here before people start mobbing her. We need to have a meeting at the temple. Just get Darien, and Amy and I will worry about the others. We need to talk about this." Serena nodded. "That makes sense. I'll try to get hold of him. Go on, hurry!" The communicator went fuzzy, and then blank. Serena quickly hit another button, one Amy had added a few years ago. Darien's face appeared in the corner, where Amy and Greg's face had been only moments before. "Serena? What's going on? I saw the paper. How?" She had sent him to the grocery for some more pancake mix. She had ate the last earlier. She shrugged. "I don't know! I talked to Amy, and she said that we should get to the temple. She and Greg are getting the others. I don't want to go out though. People we getting ready to attack her and Greg. I'm afraid of what they'll do." Darien's mouth pursed. "Go as Sailor Moon on the roof tops. No one will notice you then. I'll meet you at the temple, okay? You'll be fine." Serena nodded. "Okay. That's what I'll do." She punched another button, and Darien's face winked out. She sighed, and headed toward the window. And screamed. It really wasn't a scream. More like a yelp, but it was close. People were swarming outside the building, pounding at the doors. Yelling to see her and Darien. She stepped back from the window, breathing deeply. A knock sounded on the door. She spun around, fearful. She hadn't bothered to lock it. She quickly transformed, and headed back towards the window. The door slammed open, and she could see the building security was trying to hold back the crowd. Serena stared, unable to do anything. One of the security men glared at her. "If I were you, lady, I'd get the heck out of here. Police are on the way to contain the mobs, but other than that, I'm pretty sure you don't like hurting anyone. And you'll definitely have to if they get near you." Serena looked around. "I don't know where to go. You're blocking the only exit." The guard suddenly looked worried. "Well, it's a good thing Darien called me," a wry voice said from behind her. Serena spun around. Her face relaxed in relief. "Mars. What are you doing here?" She hopped in, the rope she had used to climb down still in her hand. "Darien thought you might have some trouble getting out. I can up with a foolproof plan. We've got to get out of here." She handed the rope to Serena. Serena took it, and looked out the window. "Um, what are you trying to do, kill me?" Sailor Mars laughed. "Sailor Moon, if I wanted to do that, I would have done it a long time ago. Now, get your butt out that window before all these people come in and mob you to death." Sailor Moon hesitantly grabbed the rope, and Raye rolled her eyes. They both disappeared out the window. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Lita and Mina were shopping when they got the call from Amy. They hadn't seen the papers yet, so they had a huge surprise. Lita put her communicator away. Mina groaned. "My parents are going to kill me." Then she brightened. "But I think a lot of guys will know who I am, and want to go out with me." Lita smiled. "Hey, you're right. I hope some of them look like my old boyfriend." Mina smiled. "I bet they all will," she muttered under her breath. Lita gave her an inquisitive look, and Mina did her best to look innocent. Lita frowned. "We've got to get out of here. Pretty soon people might start noticing, and if they start to mob us, we can't hurt them. At least if we do, Serena really shouldn't find out." Mina gave her a dirty look. "You're right. We've never hurt any real humans, just negamonsters. Let's. . . ." She trailed off, looking behind Lita. Her eyes widened. Lita frowned. "What? Let's what?" Mina gave a shaky half-laugh. "Look behind you." Lita did. She face-vaulted. "Oh, damn." --------------------------------------------------------------------- Serena stamped her foot. "Raye, did you have to drag me over here? I thought you were trying to kill me." She was sitting on Darien's lap. Raye rolled her eyes. "We only need Lita and Mina to get here. Amy, are you sure they said they could get here right away." Amy shrugged, and Greg nodded. She said briefly, "I'm sure. They were in the mall." Serena sat up suddenly. "If they were in the mall, they do know that. . . there's. . . " her eyes opened wide. "No. . . way . . . .out. There's no way out." She said it flatly, knowing immediately what had happened. She whipped out her communicator. She punched two buttons quickly, in succession. No one appeared on the screen. She waited a long time, staring emotionlessly at the small screen. Then someone did pick up. Mina. Her face was strained, tight. "Serena? Serena, we need help." Raye yanked the communicator away from Serena. "Mina, what's up? Where are you? Where's Lita?" Mina suddenly shifted, looking back behind her suddenly, then everything on the screen twisted. Mina had been shoved over. The communicator toppled with her, but Raye could see brief pictures on the screen. Lita, fighting some people off, Mina caught in the middle, getting pounded every couple of seconds. The attack was obviously sudden, because they hadn't even transformed. Mina appeared again, shaky, but unhurt. "We had just gotten Amy's message, and then people started mobbing us. We can't get away, and we can't hurt them. They're just humans. Please come and get us out of here." Raye nodded. "We'll figure something out. Just hang in there." Mina nodded, and then everything went haywire. All of a sudden, Mina's picture was gone, a scream hanging in the air. Mina's scream, and Lita's. The picture showed only one more thing before it went black. Mina and Lita on the ground, not moving. --------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Chapter One --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey!
