Hello again! Well, I just want to say a couple of things before I let you read this [painfully short, I think] part of my story. First of all, I have a new e-mail address, acacia_aben@yahoo.com. I still have my other one, but I would rather everyone e-mail me at my new one. See, my other one isn't only mine. I have to share it with four other people, and it's kind of annoying when they delete my letters! I have to thank a couple of people, first of all, Lady Guinevere, who has been there for me, and has been great at discussing problems in writing. Her story, "Ami's Diaries" is one of the best I've read. I'm telling you all, go read it as soon as you finish. I'd also like to thank Bettina, who is a really good friend. I enjoy writing to you, Bettina, and please keep writing me! I'd also like to add that since my parts are so short, I'm going to be putting out a couple of parts a week. It doesn't take me that long to write them. I love getting comments, [hint hint!!] and constructive criticism isn't totally hated. Flames are just plain awful! But please write me! All standard disclaimers apply. On with the story!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------- To Lose Love- Part Five By Acacia Aben ----------------------------------------------------------------- Part Five Serena rolled over. "I want to sleep," she moaned, covering her ears. Rien was crying loudly from the bassinet beside her. He was three months old. She loved him with all her heart, but she couldn't understand why he didn't sleep through the night yet. Tommy loved laughing at her tired expression in the morning. They helped her, on some nights, when she needed a break, they would keep the bassinet in Lisa's room, or Jennie's, as a gift to Serena. She could sleep through that night. Getting up off the bed with her eyes still closed, she walked over to the bassinet, a technique she had mastered in the past three months. She picked him up, and walked around the room, rocking him gently. She cracked her eyes open, to look at the clock. It was two thirty in the morning. She groaned softly, unwilling to make any more noise than she absolutely had to. "Why can't you sleep, Rien? Sleep is very important to Mommy." She glowed inwardly at the word mommy. She, Serena Tsukino, was a mother. A good mother, despite her objections to no sleep. Lisa was always saying that Serena was a wonderful mother. She loved Rien. More than she had ever thought she could love anyone, except Darien. Darien was on Serena's mind more than ever. Rien looked amazingly like him, much more than Rene looked like Serena. Rene resembled Serena, in a distant kind of way. Her coloring was different, but that was only superficial. Rene acted like Serena, in a way that amazed everyone. To have someone act that much like Serena was strange. Rene was less ditzy, but she still acted very much like her mother. Although Rene had inherited some of her father's seriousness. Rien's black hair and dark blue eyes were exactly like Darien's. His expression however, was more like Serena's. Where Rene, although a pig like Serena, was more serious like Darien, Rien was obviously going to be more outwardly open, like Serena. Instead of holding everything in, the way Darien did, and Rene seemed to do, he would probably let everything out, but hopefully not as much as Serena. Rien slowly quieted down, and fell asleep, sucking his thumb in an adorable way. "You're such a cute baby," Serena cooed, brushing his soft black hair away from his face, and placing him back in his bassinet. Then, smiling, she went back to bed and fell instantly asleep. @~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~@ Serena sat down with Rien at the table, and went to work at the impossible task of getting him to eat breakfast. She gave him a bottle, and tried to eat her cereal and toast that Lisa handed her. "Are you working today, Lisa?" Lisa worked at the local drugstore. Lisa shook her head. "No, which reminds me of something." She shared a look with Jennie, and Tommy grinned. Now that she thought of that, they all were grinning. They looked like they were really excited about something. "What? You all look excited about something. What's up?" Serena took a huge bite of toast, and when Rien spit out the bottle and started giggling, she made a face at him and put it back in. "Lisa? Jennie? Even Tommy?" Tommy frowned at her last remark, and she smiled proudly at him, glad that she had gotten him mad. He was as annoying as Sammy. Lisa frowned at him. "Serena, we have a surprise for you. You've been a great friend, and we care about you, a lot. We did something, not only for you, but for us." Serena put Rien's bottle back in, as he had spit it out again. "What? What is it? Tell me!" Jennie looked like she was bursting with excitement. "We bought tickets to go to Tokyo! For everyone! Me, you, Lance, Tommy, and Mom. We're all going. Mom thought maybe, no matter what happened in your life to make you run away, that your family will want to know about Rien. It was a surprise to you, it will definitely be for them. And Rien's father doesn't know does he? Of course not. Everyone will be happy for you, I know it." Serena's face paled, and she dropped the bottle. She stared at Jennie, her face rapidly growing paler. She started to gasp for breath. "I can't. I can't. I can't go back there, not yet. Oh no." she shoved Rein into Lisa's arms, and ran out of the kitchen and outside to the backyard. Wrapping her arms around her waist, she started to cry as all the memories of people came rushing back. She had tried so hard to suppress them, but the mention of Tokyo brought it all back. She started to gasp for breath. She sat sobbing, trying desperately to stop, but unable to. Lisa came up behind Serena. "I'm sorry, I didn't want this to upset you." She shoved her tears away forcefully, unwilling to let Lisa see and feel sorry for her. Serena shook her head. "It wasn't your fault," She sniffled. "I miss them a lot. I left because of Rien's father. My mother's probably hysterical. My friends will kill me if they see me, right after they hug me until I suffocate. I left them all a note, but I wasn't specific. They all love me, but I just, I-" she broke off and started crying again. Lisa gave her a hug. "Jennie is watching Rien, so you can talk to me." Serena wiped away her tears. "It's not a long story. My boyfriend didn't love me anymore, and broke up with me. I ran away, and never called or checked or told them I was okay." Lisa blinked back tears. "Serena, you've never talked to any of them? Not even your mother? They all love you, I know it. You look like you've been surrounded by love your entire life. You love without reservation. That had to come from somewhere. You just needed time to get over him, what was his name? Now you can go home. You're a strong girl." Serena's shook her head. "They love me, but the last time he broke up with me, I made a fool of myself around him, begging for him back, telling him I would always love him. I didn't want to do that again." Lisa's eyes became sharper. "This wasn't the first time he broke up with you?" Serena shook her head. "No, the last time it was because he didn't want to hurt me, he loved me until I convinced him that I wasn't going to get hurt by him. We were really happy. We dated for five years. I thought we were going to get married. There was no warning. It was our five year anniversary, and he just said that it wasn't working out. He's twenty four now, and I'm only twenty. He probably thinks I'm a baby." Lisa's eyes widened. "You started dating a eighteen year old man at fourteen years old?" Serena nodded. "My dad didn't like him at first, and chased him out of the yard." She giggled a little at that memory. "It was a long time before Darien would come with in fifty meters of the house for months." Lisa noted his name. Darien. Lisa had been right; Serena had named her son after the man she loved. She still loved him very much. And if she was guessing right, Darien still loved her. If he had gone through all that, then he probably loved her very much, maybe more than she had ever guessed, But the reason he had broken up with Serena was still a mystery. 'A mystery I intend to figure out.' "Serena, you can at least visit your home. Then, if you don't want to see anyone, then you don't have to. But we're all going whether you are or not, okay?" Serena nodded after a second's hesitation. "I'll go. But I'm not going to see anyone. Once they find out why I left, which my friends probably already know, they'll pity me. I don't want pity." Pity would be too hard to deal with. Pity had always been to hard to deal with. Lisa smiled. "Good. We leave today." @~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~@ Jennie and Serena walked out of the terminal, waiting for the rest of the group to follow. Serena smiled at the memories this place brought back. Rita leaving for Africa, Saying goodbye to all the outer scouts. She blinked back tears. "You okay?" Jennie asked curiously. Lisa hadn't told anyone about Darien, or that no one knew where she was. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's just this place has a lot of memories for me." Someone bumped into her and she automatically said, "Gomen nasai." Jennie smiled. "What does that mean?" Serena grinned. "The one sentence I say the most, being he klutziest girl around. It means very sorry. Gomen means sorry. I say it a lot, being a klutz I am." Jennie hid a grin. "You are one of the biggest klutzes I've had the privilege to meet." Serena stuck her tongue out at Jennie, who retaliated by sticking her tongue out too. "You two need to grow up," Tommy said disgusted by them. "Serena, you are a big baby." Lisa gave a warning look to Tommy, and handed Rien to Serena. She had held him during the landing, while Serena clutched the seat arms. Lance and Jennie had been unable to calm her this time. It had been an overnight flight, and it was early in the morning here. Serena took Rien, and stuck her tongue out at Tommy, who ignored her. She smiled. "On to the hotel?" Lisa nodded. "On to the hotel. Then you can show us around once we get our stuff in the room." Serena grinned brightly. "Great. It's been eleven months since I've seen some of my favorite places in the city. I can't wait to show you the park. It's beautiful there." Jennie smiled. "I can guess that it's going to take forever to get the whole tour. She'll tell us all about the things she's done at the places we go to." Serena smiled positively. "What makes you think that?" --------------------------------------------------------------- End of Part Five --------------------------------------------------------------- Well, what do you think? E-mail me your response!!!! I'm going to try to get in another part or two this week. Stay with me! ~Acacia
