E- mail me your comments, please! --------------------------------------------------------------- To Lose Love- Part Six By Acacia Aben --------------------------------------------------------------- Part Six And this is where I first met my friend Rene. She fell on me, and- well. . . long story. I'll skip it. But I went on my favorite date on those boats. It was my favorite day. Which coincidentally was also the day I met Rene." Serena babbled on, and everyone politely ignored her, looking at the beautiful lake. "It's pretty here," Jennie said. Serena nodded, a faraway wistful look on her face. "I thought it was beautiful. I used to spend a lot of time here." Everyone smiled, she sounded so happy, yet so sweet. Lance winked at her. "This is a boring tour. Can we go somewhere else?" Serena frowned at him. "Fine, we'll go see my high school. I can't think of anything else you'd like to go to." They followed her out of the park, and she frowned until she forgot about Lance's comment. Serena looked around and smiled at all the familiar sights. She could remember everything like she had only been gone a day. Then she saw a sight she had missed for eleven months, Shifting Rein to her other arm, she smiled at the figure of a blond haired girl with a large red bow in her hair. Then she froze. Mina was across the street, clear in sight, she was slowly turning to face Serena's direction. If Serena moved behind Lance, she wouldn't see Serena, and look right by her. She could not have to talk to her. 'What should I do? I want to talk to her. I miss her so much, but I can't face her.' [Oh, the suspense! What will she choose?] Mina turned in Serena's direction. Serena didn't move. Serena saw Mina's mouth open in shock. She mouthed 'Serena?'. Then she screamed it. "Serena? Oh my god!" Mina came across the road at a dead run. Then she threw her arms around Serena, crying uncontrollably. All the Millers looked on in confusion, except Lisa, who smiled. Serena had been able to thrust Rien into her arms before Mina had hugged her. She smiled at Serena's happy expression. Mina pulled back. She had stopped crying, and she wiped away her tears now. "Serena? Is it really you?" She was talking in Japanese, so no one could understand her, except Lance, who had learned common phrases during his first visit. He could make out a few words. Serena nodded. "It's me, Mina. It's really me." Mina smiled, and started to give her another hug. Then she pulled back, crying again. "Serena, you know Raye's going to kill you before she realizes that she is happy you're back. She was really angry when you left. Until she realized you were actually gone. She was almost as devastated as Darien. But she'll still kill you. She's been complaining about having to deal with the youmas without you." Serena smiled past her happy tears at Mina's babbling. It was so good to hear her voice. "I missed you guys so much." Mina smiled past her tears. "I can't believe you're actually back. I missed you so much. We all did. Especially Darien. He was so depressed, he bit everyone's head off. He still loves you Serena, he always loved you." Serena blinked. "I don't want to talk about it." Then she switched to English, which she knew Mina was fluent in. "This is the family I stayed with. They took very good care of me, don't worry. This is Lance, Jennie, Tommy, and Lisa Miller." She took Rien out of Lisa's hands. She pointed to everyone as she said their names. "This is my friend Mina Aino. She's very protective of her friends, so I had to tell her you guys were cool." Mina frowned at Serena. "Very funny." Turning to the Miller's, she smiled. "I'm pleased to meet you. Serena's the only friend I'm protective of, because all our other friends are very mature and smart. They would never be conned or need protection." She pointedly ignored Serena's angry gasp, and smiled when she wasn't looking. Then she focused on Rien. "And who's this?" Serena smiled a little nervously. "This is Rien." Mina tickled him under the chin. "He's adorable. But isn't Rien a strange name? I've never heard of it. You know, he looks a lot like- nah. Not possible." Her expression became odd. "How old is he? Three months? Did you say ? Rien? Like short for. . . Darien?" Serena took a deep breath. This was it. The moment she'd been waiting for. "Yeah, it is short for Darien. That's his name. Darien. . . Tsukino. He's my son." Mina started choking. On what, Serena wasn't sure. But she was gasping for breath. She calmed down. "Okay, where is that jerk? Just wait till I get my hands on that big bag of walking hormone. That guy's gonna be dead Darien before you can say 'pinch a poodle.' " Everyone thought that last remark was a little odd, but no one said anything. Serena grabbed Mina's arm. "Don't! I love Darien. I don't want you to hurt him. Or tell him he has a son. If I wanted him to know, if I wanted to talk to him, then I would." Mina let out a breath. "All right." Serena let out her breath. But Mina warned, "But Raye and Lita won't be as easy to calm down. You know how they are." Lisa looked peculiar. "We'd better get off the street. We're making a scene, and it's getting dark." Serena nodded. "We need to get back to the hotel room." Mina shook her head. "Let me come with you. I need to hear all about what you've been doing, and I want to tell you want's been going on here." Serena hesitated. Then slowly she nodded. "Okay. But you can't tell anyone I'm back. It's a secret. Promise? I'm going to be leaving to go back to Nevada in a week, so it wouldn't help anything. Promise, or you can't come." Mina closed her eyes. "I promise." @~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~@ Darien waited at the corner of the downtown plaza. He checked his watch. He was supposed to be meeting Mina here to talk about Serena, but she hadn't shown up yet. He frowned. Mina was late. He sighed. He had been waiting for almost an hour. Then he walked back towards his apartment. ----------------------------------------------------------------- End of Part Six ----------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you all for reading!
