Star Trek: Sailor Moon Mutual Dilemma Chapter 16 There was a mighty civilization that inhabited the moon, and several other planets over one thousand years ago. It was destroyed in war by invaders from a separate dimension. Those invaders were destroyed on Earth by the survivors of the first battle. The invaders are irrelevant. Before the speaker Roshalon was destroyed, the Borg learned of this "Moon Kingdom," and the powerful secrets it held...and the secrets it still holds. With the collective replete with units, the Borg were constructing a cube, which will launch on a mission to assimilate these secrets, including the Emperian silver crystal. With the knowledge of these powers, the Borg would duplicate them, assimilate the Enterprise and the Sailor Scouts, and assimilate Earth. Then the Borg would construct more cubes, and embark on the great Mission: Unite the universe...even the entire multiverse, under one power...The Borg. Commander Riker and Lieutenant Commander Data piloted a small shuttlecraft between the Earth and the Moon. They intended to board the U.S.S. Poseidon, an Excelsior class vessel that lay adrift in space. Including the Enterprise, only three ships passed through the anomaly into this universe. The Defiant was the other. Another shuttlepod with Worf was en route to that ship. Various engineering personnel and repair crews were en route to both vessels in separate shuttles. Their orders were to make those ships battle-worthy before the Borg finished their "project." It would not be an easy task. The unfortunate Poseidon was now clearly visible on the shuttle's viewer. The ship was slowly spinning, with it's nacelles now pointing upward relative to the shuttle. (shuttle's point of view) The saucer was riddled with burns and breaches, some of them going completely through the section, coming out the other side. One of the nacelles was severely damaged, and the secondary hull was also breached. There was no lighting, no power, and no life. It was a piece of metal floating in space. "Commander, we are approaching the rendezvous coordinates. The ship is depressurized, and you will need to wear an extravehicular activities suit." The android brought the shuttle along-side the wounded Poseidon. Riker nodded silently, and went to the back of the shuttlepod, where his EVA suit lay. Data, meanwhile, navigated the shuttle through the battered nacelles, up above the secondary hull, and just above the massive saucer. "Commander, the main shuttle bay's doors are open. Shall I attempt to bring the shuttle aboard?" Riker, who had only one leg into the bulky white suit nodded again. "Affirmative, but tell at least five of the other teams to keep their shuttles out of the bay. Just in case." Data tilted his head slightly in affirmation, and reached for the communications controls. Meanwhile, on the viewer, the open bay doors loomed larger and larger. The ship appeared to be spinning in a slow, clockwise motion, but Data adjusted the attitude of the shuttle, and soon, the bay doors were still, but the stars were spinning around them. From the side windows, other shuttles could be seen doing the same. Riker began to fasten the air-tight outer shell of his suit. When one piece connected with another, it made a loud sigh as air passage in and out of the suit stopped. Data slowly brought the craft into the shuttlebay. "Commander, the artificial gravity in the Poseidon seems to be out. I am going to have to land the shuttle with the magnetic skis." "That's fine, Data" said Riker, before slipping the helmet over his head. The hiss of air signaled the commander's readiness to work in zero-gee. There was a solid 'thump' as the shuttle connected with the ground. Data stood, and moved beside Riker in the rear of the pod. "I must also wear a suit," the android began, "in order to communicate using sound, and take hold onto the ground." "Of course!" shouted Riker from inside his helmet. He smiled, and handed the lieutenant-commander a suit. Data grabbed the tunic part, and slipped it onto his body about twice as fast as Riker had. He proceeded to add the other parts of the suit onto his arms, legs, feet, neck, and hands. Once all of those parts were fastened together air-tight, Data slipped on his helmet. "I am ready" said the android, who was now in radio contact with Riker. "Depressurizing the shuttle." Riker keyed in the depressurization sequence into the control panel near the shuttle's transporter pad. Almost instantly, there was a whoosh of air, and then, total silence. "Confirming radio contact" blared the voice of Data into Riker's helmet. Wincing, Riker reached up and adjusted the volume control on his helmet. "Sorry," said the android, his voice much softer to Riker's ears. "Not your fault," he said, smiling. "Magnetize." They both pressed the controls that caused the soles of their boots to become electromagnets. There was no sound in the shuttle when their feet clanged against the ground, but the noise resonated through both of their suits. "Let's go." Riker hit the control panel once again. The back door to the shuttle noiselessly opened at the top, and glided downward until it hit the ground of the shuttle bay; serving as a ramp for the two officers. They stepped out of the shuttle. As soon as Riker was outside, he was overcome with the sensation of falling. He was in null gravity. Although his boots were firmly planted on the surface of the shuttlebay, his feet were no longer firmly planted on his boots. It was a nauseating sensation. Data followed his commander, having no noticeable reaction to the change. In front of them, three shuttles were floating. One at a time, they connected with the surface. Although there was no sound as they connected, it created a massive vibration under their feet. The two officers began to make their way towards the other shuttles. After a minute had passed, the rear doors on all of them opened, and three repair crews, clad in the standard white spacesuits, made their way out of the shuttles. They dragged replicators and repair kits with them. Lifting the weightless replicator, and preventing it from continuing its upward motion, they gave it a push towards the door leading aboard the Poseidon. Because of its mass, they couldn't set it in rapid motion, and the replicator floated ever so slowly towards the wall. The repair crews followed right behind it, ready to absorb the rebound. Data and Riker made their way to the door leading into the ship. They arrived just as the replicator impacted on the wall nearby. The repair crew behind it pushed the large device to a stop. Then they joined their superior officers. "I'm going to open this door," said Riker. "Stand clear." If there was any atmosphere left aboard the ship in that region, it could blast someone across the shuttlebay, and out into space. The commander kneeled down, and opened a panel that was on the wall beside the door. Inside, there was a handle that would release the lock on the door. Riker yanked down on it, and a shower of debris drifted out of the wall and into the air. The doors were pushed open slightly by escaping air, but the crew was unaffected. "I believe that the pressure has been equalized" said Data, moving to the door. The android worked his fingers between the two shafts, and began to pull them apart. It was pitch black inside the ship. Once the door was wide enough to admit him, Data drew his flashlight, and entered the ship. Riker did likewise, and followed him. One by one, the repair crew made their way into the Poseidon. "Main power, auxiliary power, and even emergency power is out" remarked the android. The team was in a corridor, not dissimilar from those found on the Enterprise. "We are on deck four, section three" said Riker. "We can reach engineering through the Jeffries tubes." Riker pulled a small, circular device from his toolbelt. "This should allow us access through the doors." They took off down the corridor, gravity boots allowing them to walk in zero-gee. Worf supressed the impulse to destroy something. He and several repair teams had just arrived on the Defiant. Aside from gravity and atmosphere, his ship was useless. There was no life support, and the air aboard the ship was almost toxic, forcing the teams to wear EVA suits. At least it served me well, thought Worf, caressing the bulkhead next to his command chair. This ship and I took off more then a chunk of that Borg cube! Now it was damaged severely, and needed badly. It was a frustrating assignment. Suddenly, Worf's communicator beeped. "Worf here. What is it?" The tone was less than friendly. "We have access to auxiliary power here in Engineering," came the voice of an engineer. "Permission to attempt a powerup." Worf contemplated the consequences. If there were any ruptured fuel conduits that were not separated from the power flow, there could be an explosion. If there was a surge during the powerup, it could blow out many systems that were already being repaired. However, power and life support would hasten the process of repair, and allow time to prepare for the Borg attack. "Have your teams seal off any damaged fuel conduits, and then restore auxiliary power." "We have scanned the ship with tricorders, and sealed off all damaged conduits. Power flow will be rerouted around them. We will start the procedure." "Carry on." Worf grinned fiercely as the lights came on in the Bridge. He switched off his flashlight, and returned it to his belt. There was an electronic whine that ascended in pitch and crescendoed as energy began to leap through the Bridge's systems. There was a hissing sound as air was cycled through the filter. "Qapla'! (kkhap-LA' (success))" cried Worf. "majQa'! (maj-KKHA')" "I'm sorry. Message not received." "Excuse me" said the Klingon. "I said: Success...Good work." "Thank you, sir. Engineering out." Communications were severed. Worf was beaming, which was unusual for his species. Well! Perhaps this ship is stronger than I thought! May it serve us with honor!
