Pain Under Beauty Chibi-Usa's heart began to pump faster, quicker, until she could hear it in her eardrums and thought they were going to bust. Her legs stiffened until she thought she couldn't even uplift them up anymore. Her body begged her to pause, to at least be able to allow air into her abdomen and stomach, but her mind kept racing her on. What if the bad people were right behind her at this very moment chasing her? She couldn't stop until she knew she was safe. Usagi's own body was beginning to wear out; she just didn't have the energy due to the first race with Mamoru earlier before. The only reason not to stop was the throbbing feeling in her knee and hand; the little spore made her feel this pain. But secretly she was thanking the kid for intruding between the conversation of Mamoru and Usagi. So he still didn't remember. This knowledge tore at her heart, taking little bites until there was practically nothing left. If they were destined to be together forever, why couldn't he recall anything? It wasn't fair at all; life wasn't fair. EVERYTHING wasn't fair to Usagi, and the only thing that kept her going - aside the fact that she was a senshi and people needed her - was the faint light of hope in her heart. But that flame was barely flickering, as if the fire was caught in a gust of wind that never ceased or stopped. Usagi's only motivation was running out. A deafening rumble could be heard in the sky and across the land. Usagi's eyes began to widen as she recognized the sound: thunder. A feeling of terror pumped through her body with huge surges. The sound means thunder and thunder means... The teenager couldn't think about that; this wasn't the time nor place to worry about such matters. This is what Usagi did a lot now. Always putting distressful or wretched thoughts in the back of her mind. Usually, by morning, she would have forgotten about them until something occurs and it reminds her. Yes, this was Usagi's way of coping with such things. Since Life hasn't handed her a lemon she takes the things Life does give her and pushes them in her mind until the become a faint blure. Usagi wasn't the only one who knew what the earsplitting sound was; Chibi-Usa's eyes began to spill tears of despair and horror. This wasn't suppose to befall to a child; especially a child of royal blood. No, this wasn't ever suppose to happen to Princess Small Lady Serenity, heir to the thrown when her mother, Neo-Queen Serenity, and her father, King Endymion, retire from their position. So why was this happening to such a young girl? The tears began to gain an uncontrollable force as the sky spilled the weighty load that set upon its shoulders until her cries matched the gushing rain. Of course this wasn't suppose to happen to Chibi-Usa; nobody should even have thought twice about it. Yet she was the one that was on this mission. And it wasn't fair; why would it be? Chibi-Usa's fright started to mix with fierce anger. Why was she on this purpose? Her papa could have come and carried it out; he was such a strong man. Thinking about her father, Chibi-Usa began to bawl. 'I want my daddy! I want my mommy! I want to go home!' Never did Chibi-Usa know that her pleads would be answered. *~* *~* *~* *~* *~* Mamoru could feel the aching in his head grow with each step he took. The pain wouldn't desist and the roaring screams of the lightning outside wasn't helping his head much either; he felt as if he had been hit time and time again by a four-by-four truck. And where did this headache come from? He felt just fine when he exited the park and felt wonderful when he was walking home; he was even whistling a song he had no idea where it came from but he whistled it: 'Moonlight Densetsu.' Chiba Mamoru put a rugged hand up to his head and rubbed his temples. Words were echoing in his mind; and where they came from? He had no idea. "Your pain is my pain.*" And Mamoru had no clue that somewhere in an alley a fourteen year old girl who fights for the future in disguise was feeling the exact same pain he was. *~* *~* *~* *~* *~* Usagi grabbed her head and began to twist frantically as if trying to rid the pain that was echoing non-stop in her head. This mixed with the steady rythem coursing through her body from her hand became all most unbearable to her. Tears coursed its way down her cheeks like little waterfalls flowing gently over a mountain's edge. Chibi-Usa spun her small little head around to see if anybody was following her for she desperatly needed air at the moment. Good, no one in site. The frighten rabbit quickly began to suck in oxygen in ragged gasps as her eyes scanned her surroundings. Nothing but a kitten in the back alley. And that kitten looked so familiar, all most like --- "Hello Princess! So this is what Tokyo looks like in the 20th century!" The small kitten lunge forward and quickly jumped into Chibi- Usa's open arms. "We were so worried about you Small Lady, back at the castle, that they sent me back to help guide you! This is so awesome! Maybe I'll get to see my parents too!" The pink odango atama huffed and stuck her nose up high. "More like babysitting if you ask me." "Now Small Lady..." the kitten began but was cut off by her princess's chubby little arms flying in the air. "Diana, I'm seven years old! I can take care of myself, you know? So which one sent you back? Mercury? Venus? Daddy?" hissed Chibi- Usa through her teeth. Sure she didn't want to be doing this obligation that she was sent on, but if she had to, she at least wanted to prove herself a big girl, a grown up like her mother. Now Diana has come and become a babysitter? Chibi-Usa snorted at the idiotic idea. She WAS seven! Usagi spyed the mysterious girl through a trash can which she had taken cover behind. What is she doing? Talking to a cat? 'Maybe it's Luna? No! Now why would Luna be talking to a complete stranger?' Usagi could have slapped herself for thinking such a stupid thought. "DIANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" screamed Chibi- Usa with the same fear rising in her heart when she first saw Rubeus. "What am I suppose to do!?!?!" The child took off crying her little eyes out on the way. Rubeus looked at the small child with pity. But as soon as he felt it, it was gone. Why should he pity the enemy? Wiseman would have his head if he knew about this! He turned towards the dissapearing rabbit and snarled, "Here I come, ready or not! Where going to take you back where you belong Small Lady!" 'Not if I can help it!' thought Usagi, grabbing for her brooch. "Moon Prism Power, Make-Up!" After transforming in to pretty suited Sailormoon, Usagi took after this new enemy. She would not let him ever get a hand on a child, not when she still has breath in her body. *~* *~* *~* *~* *~* Mamoru, with an ice pack on his head, quickly jumped out of his bed, startled at the feeling that overtook him. What was it? All most like a spark flying in his heart; something telling him SHE was in danger. But who was 'she'? He could not answer that question, at least not now. Rubbing his head, he sat back down and pulled the creamy white satin sheets over him. Maybe it just was a shock; a simple, everyday, normal shock. Little did Mamoru know that this feeling was a spark; the spark that was going to lite the flame of memories that started one thousand years ago. *~* *~* *~* *~* *~* Yeah, yeah. That sucked, so sue me Feedback peepz! Don't let my poor mailbox get lonely now! Peace, Allison ^ ~
