Author's Notes: Well hello there, haven't written in a LONG time! But oh well, here is a new story that I hope you will enjoy. I have a couple of thing to say first: 1) Serena is called Serenity, but also has the nickname Serena. The same thing with Darien, his name is Endymion, but his nickname is Darien. 2) Serena has never met Darien before, so she doesn't think he is a complete jerk, mean, etc.. 3) I call monsters youmas and the Negaverse is called the Dark Kingdom. 4) Serena is the ditz she is, but not as much. She is more mature because she is 16, but she is only Sailor Moon now and doesn't have any other senshi. But soon she will meet up with them. 5) AN=Author's Notes 6) Rated: PG 7) PLEASE READ NOTES AT BOTTOM!!!!!!!!!!!**********^^^^^^^^^^^ Destiny Against Reality Chapter One: Conclusions My friends have wondered greatly why I chose to go to this dance without a date. They told me only the outcasts come single; I don't think of myself as an outcast. Actually, the irony of it is that the only reason I'm going to the dance was because I was chosen as the Princess, which is a great honor. The Princess is kind of like a Prom Queen, except I'm only sixteen and not going to any prom. Actually this is going to be a spring dance, celebrating the beginning of spring vacation. Getting back to the point, my friends thought I would humiliate if I would go to this dance. I can remember my good friend, Eve, saying, "I can't believe you Serenity! Going to the dance single! Look girl, only the losers go to dances single. You've got everything going for you Serena. So why go without a date? I can name a million people wanting to go with you! Now take that girl for example," Eve looked at a girl with blue hair; the color reminded me of the ocean. "She's the type that would go without a date.Your not like her though! And you were chosen as the Princess! I mean come on, if you have that title you should have atleast a date." I couldn't believe why and how she said that. My life is far from perfect. The outside image contrasts the real pain on the inside. I may seem like the perfect angel, the one that always has a smile on her face, but I'm not. I have so much pain in my heart. My friends are always going out with the most popular guys in school. They always are admired by people. Me though, well I guess I'm like a sick puppy. I follow them around just hoping they'll open there as and say to themselves, "Hey, Serenity needs me. I haven't been a good friend, and she sure deserves someone good." Nope, that doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon. Thinking of my life gets me distracted because I didn't even notice myself heading straight into her. She was the one Eve was talking about. The fragile blue headed girl who keeps so very quiet when around people. "Oh, I'm sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going. I'm so sorry." She apologizes to me slowly. I look at her and nod my head in understandment; she lowers her head trying to hid her embarrassment. "Your Amy, right?" I ask her trying to start a conversation. I never actually talked to this girl. I always wondered what she was like, yet I knew she lived close by and walked about the same time I did home. "Uh huh. Your Serenity, I presume. I see you at school sometimes, but I guess you probably don't notice someone like me." Her voice is as cold as ice, which hurts me. I notice her all the time, sitting so alone in the corners. "Of course I notice you! Actually, who doesn't? Your the smartest person in our grade, probably in our entire school!" I say sweetly. Compliments always help a person get over their shyness. It didn't work with this girl. "Sure you do. Probably picking me out to make fun of me I guess. Well I must be on my way, I need to study for the test on Thursday." It was only Friday. She really was a brain. And what's this deal with me making fun of her? I would never do that to someone. I just don't have the heart. "Okay then, maybe I'll talk to you later. Bye Amy." I quickly scurry home to my room. Inside there I can fill tears swell into my eyes. "Your picking me out to make fun of me," She spat at me. How could she feel that way about me? She doesn't even know me! How can you judge someone you don't know? How, how, how, how? "Crying won't help, Serena. Talk to me and maybe I can help." I look at what sometimes to be my only true friend and frown. I don't think she can help with me on this one, but I told her my story anyway. I had a couple of tears find their way down my cheek, making slow paths to show where they had visited. "She completely misjudges me! Luna, why would someone do that? It's just not fair!" I looked at the feline for some sort of advice. She was always so smart when it came for help. "This girl, Amy, you describe sounds so familiar. Maybe she is.... No, she just couldn't be her." Luna's voice purred. "Who could she be? Luna, tell me what you have on your mind now. I order you too!" I eye the cat questionably. Maybe she thinks Amy is the princess. No, why would she think a silly thing like that! "She sounds like the senshi of Mercury. You said her hair was a blue you have never seen before, like it was the color of the sea." She looks at me and I nod for her to continue. "And you also say she's extremely intelligent." I nod once again. "And that her stare can make you feel like jagged ice is cutting straight through you. My memory isn't what it use to be, but I know this girl sounds like a senshi. Or she could be," My eyes widen. It was like a fairy tale and I was just getting at the climax of the story. "A spy from the Dark Kingdom." My face dropped. She couldn't be, could she? Maybe I could find more about her at this dance coming up. Maybe we would be attacked by a youma and I would have to transform. Then I might get into danger and I would see the sign of Mercury appear on her forehead. Then she would help me defeat all. I would just have to wait and see. Chapter Two: A Surprise A week before the dance and I still haven't a thing to wear. I thought about just wearing some type of dress that I still had from last years dances, but I knew that was probably out of style. My main problem was that a couple of days ago I decided to splurge my money on some food and games at the arcade. Of course I kept playing those games in hopes to impress Andrew, but my luck seemed to have failed and now I was broke. Well maybe Mom would loan me..No luck in that department. I was already in debt to her, so maybe Dad would. Yes, Dad will. Her can't resist his princess!(AN: pun intended.:) ) "Daddy! Oh Daddy, I need some money for the dance. I spent it all yesterday on," Wait, I couldn't tell him I just threw my money away for no good reason. Think girl, think of something Dad would want to hear. "On school supplies." I glance at my father and his expression showed he needed some explanation for my strange shopping for school supplies. "I dearly needed everything so I decided to buy it myself; I didn't want to bother you. But now this silly little dance is coming up, and me being the Princess and all, I have no money to buy a dress!" I gave a little wail to show what misery I'm in. "So I was wondering dearest Daddy if I could borrow, lets say, about a hundred or so bucks." I could see my father's eyes narrow down on me, not sure to trust me or question me more.I quickly start to twist the ends of my pigtails to add on my innocent expression. If he neglects my need for money I can always use step number two: Pout, pout, and pout some more. "Okay Serena. I'll give you a hundred and fifty, but no more. I just want to see my daughter happy for such a wonderful occasion." He reached for his wallet and pulled at his credit card. "You know, back in my day I would kill for my father to give me his credit card. Now I'm trusting you fully to be responsible with--" I grab the card and make a beeline to the door, thanking him in a very rude manner for a "young lady," as my mother puts it. Running into the store, I quickly start to search for the perfect dress. Then I saw it, something that reminded me of a time I could not remember. Like a dream, you know you have it but cannot remember any detail. The dress ran down over my ankles, and by some odd reason fit me perfectly. The color was off white and their were some beads around the stomach area to hold the flow of the bottom part. I couldn't believe this wasn't taken yet. Only four little words filled my mind then: BUY IT NOW SERENA! I smiled and grabbed it off the rack and rush towards the counter. "Oh, a pretty dress for a pretty girl." The receptionist said to me. "I think this is probably the best one we have in this store. You're a lucky girl; it arrived just yesterday so nobody could have the chance to buy it. Funny thing is that it doesn't name the place of where it was made. Never have anybody in this store felt such fine silk and satin." Her hands brush over it and I smile. I'm going to defiantly buy this thing, no matter how much it costs. "So how much is it? I can only spend a certain amount of dollars." I raised a brow curiously; I have a habit of doing that. "Oh, I think it is," The woman checked the price tag, "about a hundred twenty. Yes, with tax is would be a hundred twenty five dollars and fifteen cents. Is that alright?" I look at her, and she has pasted a fix smile on her face. I don't trust that smile so I should bargain. I also need shoes. I clear my throat and inform her, "I've seen another dress like this before, but it cost only about a hundred ten. Your going to charge me fifteen extra bucks? That's a rip off! But if I think about it I will give you a hundred thirteen, but that's my final offer." I raise a hand in her face and lower my head. "No more, yet no less. That's my final offer. If you neglect to choose this then I will go to the other store and spend my money there. I do believe you should go with this offer though, it's an extra hundred thirteen in this store's account." The lady looked dumbfounded. She wasn't sure to tack the offer or refuse, but then she put her mind to work and took it, and I walked away with an extra thirty seven dollars. I stopped by the shoe department and found some three inch high heels that were the exact color of the dress. I've had alot of luck today in the shopping department. But Daddy won't be pleased with me because I kind of went over my limit by ten dollars, yet I know I can pay off that debt! ~The Night of The Party~ I came to this party and I made myself have fun. Sure there were millions of guys asking me to dance, but it just didn't feel right. It's as if I know there is someone out there who is my one true soulmate, and my mind is refusing to go out with any other men. I wish he would appear soon because I'm having trouble waiting. Patience wasn't my thing. "Oh Serenity! You look absolutely gorgeous!" My friend, Summer, exclaimed. "I wish I could look as beautiful as you girl! I mean, wow! I bet you have every guy at your door knocking." She smiled her pearl white smile and took my arm. "Tonight Serena, your going to be the belle of the ball. Yes, I can see it now. A handsome man to dance with, crowned Princess, and not stopping at all until midnight. It sounds just like Cinderella!" Summer giggled and winked at me. I watched her run off to her boyfriend and then I was left there standing alone again; I always was standing alone. A felt a tap on my shoulder and then a husky voice asked, "Can I have this dance?" I spun around to see a stranger in front of my face. I immediately noticed his eyes for they were a mysterious blue, as dark as the darkest blue. And then I noticed his thick hair that covered those penetrating eyes. I had to fight the urge to run my hands through those coal black strands of hair. His height was medium, but since I was little, he was tall to me. I noticed how muscular he was too, and I wished he could wrap those protective arms around me and hold me until eternity. "Well can I?" He asked me again. I swallowed the clump in my throat and I finally managed a nod. He flashed his perfect smile at me and I almost died right then. He was an angel, my angel. And then myangel took my hand and lead my out onto the dance floor. I closed my eyes as he slowly wrapped his arms around my waist, and I shivered once or twice as he roamed my back. Oh God, I could die happy now. "My name is Endymion, but people call me Darien for short." He looked into my eyes. I tried to look away, but it seemed like he had me in a trance. "What is your name beautiful maiden?" Wow, he really was a first class man! I swallowed once again and managed to squeak out, "Serenity, but Serena is my nickname." I blushed furiously. Jeez, I sounded like an idiot saying that! Why couldn't I have said it sexily? "Serenity," He repeated, "that's a very pretty name. Are you as serene as your name sounds?" Serene? What's that--Oh yeah! That means peaceful and calm. Okay, am I peaceful and calm? Well, I think so, but I wouldn't admit that to him. "Well Darien, I don't know. Maybe you should find out for yourself." And I smiled at him. I bet my smile isn't as nice as his. "Okay then, I guess I will just have to." And then he lowered his head towards mine, and I quickly moistened my lips for the kiss. I could fill our lips coming closer and closer together--- A voice came over the microphone and screamed, "Time to announce this year's Princess everybody!" And our lips were going farther and farther away. AHH! Does this always have to happen to me? Well, does it!? NO!!! "And the winner is," There was a hush over the crowd as the girl read out of the envelope, "Amy Anderson? Amy is this year's Princess? Well I guess this is correct. Okay everybody, Amy Anderson is our 1999- 2000 Princess!" WHAT?!?! AMY?! THAT BITCH! I WAS SUPPOSE TO GET PRINCESS! NOT THAT LITTLE TWO TIME BRAINIAC!! I guess Darien could notice the steam coming out of my ears because he asked, "Were you suppose to win or something? Look Serena, it isn't the end of the world, so just chillout." I looked up at him, embarrassed and upset. It was for me. That was the only last chance of hope I had to becoming recognized by my friends. I didn't even want to stay for the rest of the party. I grabbed my things and ran out with tears in my eyes. I have to admit that I wasn't supposively chosen Princess, but everybody told me I was going to win. EVERYBODY! They all told me that I was beautiful, charming.. They never told me they actually voted for me though.... That was it.. They didn't care about me.. Nobody did! I'm outta here and I'm not coming back! Yet later on I was going to regret that decision. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Alrighty, that's the end of chapter one and two!
