Was it just a dream?
Rei stared down at her trembling hands, she knew it was
pointless to ask. She knew the answer - it was no dream.
What was she to do now? What can she do?

He had lost her. Beryl's deception had wreaked more
havoc then he could have ever dreamed possible. The one
thing that mattered to him was lost. There was nothing for
him now.

*		*		*

"Hai Otousan - I'm fine....Really...Why would I lie about
that?"
Rei's mind was not on the conversation with her father, it
was far away, not even on the same plane of existence.
Suddenly, she realised that he was asking her a question.
"Gomen nasai Otousan - I didn't hear you."
Heikazui sighed, "I noticed Rei-chan - you must still be
tired - go and rest."
Rei sighed as well, "Otousan..."
"Iie Rei-chan, go rest."
"Hai Otousan."
But she didn't know if she wanted to obey him - she didn't 
want to sleep, didn't want to be vulnerable.
What did she want? Can she put away a lifetime of memories
and shun him? Can she ignore the pain she had felt at
his hands? Iie - not *his* hands....Beryl's deception - the
Jaedite that had loved her and the one that had hurt were
not one and the same.
She turned and strode to the great fire.

Taiyou ni kazashita
(Shaded by the sunlight)

Kokoro ni anata ga iru
(In my heart you are here)


Rei knelt before the great fire, clearing her mind. If
she was to reach him, she would reach him in her own
way.
 

Suki to ienakute mo
(Even without saying you love me)

Anata ga kokoro ni iru
(You are here in my heart)

She knew what to do, there was no question. How
could there have been?


Nee yuuki wo arigatou
(Say, thanks for your bravery)

Hora umaretate no power
(Look, the newly born power)


She felt the connection surge through her veins. The 
familliar feelings engulfing her, but with a tinge of...
something...


Subete wo tsutsunde kagayaku
(Covering everything, shining brightly)

Sora ya umi no hirosa yori mo
(Even more than the spacious sky and the sea)


She realised what it was - her connection with Jaedite
had been realised, and she reveled in it, and it added
to her. 


Yume wa hateshi nai tte
(My dreams have no limits)

Kidzuita no wa koi wo shite kara
(I have realized that because I am in love)


Rei was complete - she was no longer a soul torn in
half, stumbling thourgh life without...

Unmei no nagare wo
(In the stream of destiny)

Issho ni oyogitai no
(I want to swim together with you)

A soulmate.


Donna dekigoto ni mo
(Whatever happens to us)

Maketari shinai you ni
(I'll be sure not to give up)


Jaedite looked up, he felt something...an aura, an
energy that was heartbreakingly familliar.


Nee deaete yokatta
(Say, I'm glad we met each other)

Sono atatakai kuuki
(That warm atmosphere around us)


He felt the fire of her aura surrond him, coaxing him
as she had done a millenia ago.


Kizu tsuita hibi ga toketeku
(The days of being hurt are melting away)

Zutto suki datta shinu hodo
(I love you so much that I could die)


She was reaching out to him. How long had he waited
to feel this? His love no longer unreiquited.


Kaze ni tadayou tane ga
(Drifting in the wind the seed)

Mebuku you na anata no egao
(Will sprout like your smiling face)


Joy spread through him, she wanted him, she loved him.


Oto mo nai uchuu no sumi ni
(Where there is no sound in the corners of space)

Daremo ga hitori
(Everybody is alone)


She wanted him by her side. Kami how long had she
waited to feel a love like this? A love that knew no
bounds.


Semete ai kanjiaetara
(When at least our feelings of love meet)

Ikite yukeru ashita e to
(I can go on to tomorrow)


This was it. She poured her soul into the fire. Asking,
begging for it to reach him. She could not live, if he
could not.


Atsuku komiageru kodou wa
(The throbbing building up warmly)

Towa ni dare no mune ni mo
(Eternally whoever's heart it is in)


A portal opened. He did not know where it lead
to...then he heard her voice...calling him...


Hibikiwataru mahou no merodi
(It will resound loudly, the magical melody)

Sora ya umi no aosa yori mo
(Even more than the blue sky and the sea)


He stepped in, praying...


Yume wa suki to otteru to
(I will chase after my dreams with love)

Anata no me ga oshiete kureta
(Your deep eyes told me to do that)


She reached out, keeping the image of his crystal
blue eyes in her mind....

A hand was stroking her forehead, slowly, fear making
her heart pound, she opened her eyes and willingly
drowned in the bluest eyes she had ever seen.
"Jaedite."
His name a caress. He closed his eyes, staring into her
incredible violet eyes.
"Rei." He smiled at her, leaning down to brush his lips
lightly over hers, once, twice. Then with a groan melted
into her embrace....

Note one: the song is Eien no Melody (Eternal Melody)
Though most of you might know the tune as "Oh Starry
Night." It is my most favourite SM song of all time. I suggest
you read this chapter (particulary when Rei is in front of the
great fire) If anyone wants the song (in mp3) email me and
I would gladly send it to you.

Note two: I'm thinking of writing an alternate ending to this
- warning it won't be a happy one.
