THE LEGEND OF THE MOON By: Aphrael aphrael@edsamail.com.ph RATING: G Hi. First Attempt at writing fan fiction!!! This is a different kind of fan fiction you're about to read, it's something out of the ordinary. It's a fantasy thing, and some changes were made for the characters to fit into the story. Please don't leave, just give it a try, okay? DISCLAIMER: The characters of Sailor Moon belong to Naoko Takeuchi. The first phrase of the story comes from an old anime, Voltron. Y'know: "From days of long ago, in a galaxy...." This story is also inspired by David Eddings, author of the Belgariad and the Malloreon. All the rest are mine. Haha, mine, mine, mine! ================================================================ PROLOGUE From days of long ago, long before there is chaos, long before the people of the Moon lived in constant fear, long before the reign of the Dark Kingdom, Moon Kingdom was reigned by the legendary Lunar Dynasty. During this dynasty, peace spread throughout the land. Queen Serenity, the last of the Lunites, lay in wait for the birth of her child. With her are the Wise Men of the Light, an elite group of seven old men and advisers to the Queen. Upon the birth of each heir to the kingdom, it is custom for the Seer of the Wise Men of the Light to look into the child's future. And when Queen Serenity gave birth to a lovely daughter she named Serena, it is only natural for the Seer to predict the child's future. But when the Seer looked into the Princess Serena's future, he saw that Princess Serena, together with a man from another world, a terran prince with eyes as blue as the deep end of the ocean and hair as dark as the midnight sky, will save the Moon people from darkness. He would seek the Holy Armor and bring forth with him his generals to bring to light and destroy the darkness. But Moon Kingdom is in peace and terrans do not even know that there is life in the moon, so people deemed this prediction as inaccurate...very inaccurate. Six months later, Dark Kingdom attacked the people of the Moon without warning. Queen Serenity sensed that this will be the fall of the Lunar Dynasty. Together with the consent of the Wise Men, she gave her child to the child's nurse, Luna. After all, Princess Serenity is the Chosen One, she will save Moon Kingdom. But before she let go of the child, the Queen gave her the necklace, with a pendant in the shape of a crescent moon which is the symbol of Moon Royalty, to the child. The necklace will be proof of Princess Serenity's identity when she comes back to Crystal Palace. She will come back together with the man from another world, his Generals, and four warriors bearing the power of water, love and beauty, fire, and thunder and lightning... to claim her inheritance... to claim her birthright... to save her kingdom. But this is just a myth. Myths are not true... Or so they say. - From the Legends of the Moon ---------- "No!... Jas, we've talked about this before. I am not going into that fortune teller's booth," said a very handsome man with very blue eyes. "Oh, come on Darien. How bad can it be? It's just for fun. Please!!!," said a redhead with a very curvaceous butt. "Okay, okay. Just stop your whining." Darien Chiba is one of Tokyo's wealthiest businessmen. He inherited ten million dollars when he reached the age of twenty one, and he doubled that money many times over. And at twenty-three, he's now one of the most eligible bachelors in Tokyo, and being drop-dead gorgeous didn't hurt his reputation one bit. Today was one of the rare days which he doesn't spend in his office immersed in his work. Clad in beige slacks, an Italian shirt and a heavenly English sweater, he was spending this particular 'holiday' in a carnival with his girlfriend, Jasmine Lamb, a very vain and wicked woman. Secretaries in Darien's office sometimes joke that Darien's girlfriend's name means 'Jas Look At My Butt'. The only reason that Darien dated the woman was because it was convenient. It didn't hurt Jasmine's reputation to be seen with the unattached and unattainable Darien Chiba. And Jasmine did not harbor any illusions of finding love in Darien's arms, and having a girlfriend discouraged other women to run after Darien. The truth is Darien is terrified of marriage. He's so afraid of making the mistake of marrying someone that's after his money that he gave up on the merest idea of any commitment at all. And Darien was tired of being chased by women because of his money. He had long given up on finding and marrying the girl of his dreams, a girl who'd want him for himself and not for his money. As they entered the tent of the fortune teller, Darien felt a chill run through his spine. It was as if something that should happen was happening now. It was eerie. The minute that Darien and Jasmine stepped inside the room, it was as though they entered another world. The tent was hung with gauzy cloths of hundreds of colors. At one corner of the tent was a large python in a cage. At the floor were hand-tied carpets of black and different shades of red, and through the draperies that hung from the ceiling Darien could see piles of dark colored pillows. Incense burned at every corner of the tent. It gave the tent an aura of mystery. At the center of the pillows, sitting cross-legged, her hands in her lap facing heavenwards, was what was surely the most hideously looking old creature on earth. The old woman was hunchbacked with hands that looked like twisted vines, face that looked so old it looks like it would crumble with a touch. But what really made her scary is her eyes. They are eyes that could make grown men run away with fear... eyes as black as sin... eyes that bore through your soul and take it away. "Young man, come to me," the fortune teller told Darien with a voice that sent a chill through his bones. The voices outside seemed to fade away and all they can hear is the old woman's voice and a wind that whispered through their ears. Jas gulped and croaked, "Actually, I'm the one who wants my future told. Darien doesn't even..." But the fortune teller interrupted, "Silence! Madame Lorelei is speaking. Hail the Terran Prince. Thy destiny awaits thou. Darkness must not prevail. Go forth, armed with the Holy Armor, and take with thee thy generals to save thy princess in grave peril." "Old woman, you're giving the creeps," Jasmine shivered. She's actually shaking now. "Jas, do you have to take me to this lunatic..." "I said SILENCE! Take this ring with thou and save the moon people. They lay in wait for your coming," the fortune teller's voice echoed through the tent. "You're giving me a ring?! Don't be ridiculous..." "Darien, just take the ring and let's get out of here. That woman is a wacko." When Darien took the ring, the fortune teller fainted dead away to the floor. When Darien tried to help, a burly man who looked like a pirate appeared. "Lad, do as Madame Lorelei says. She is seldom wrong." With that, he disappeared with the fortune teller in a cloud of smoke. ---------- After the fortune teller incident, Darien dropped Jasmine off and went straight home. Something about what the fortune said chilled him to the bones. It felt weird. Darien never experienced anything like this all his life. He had never been afraid in his entire life before this. He felt like he has been waiting for this moment forever, which was weird because he doesn't even like fortune tellers. As he entered his apartment, he took the ring out of his pocket. It was a weird looking ring, made of a metal that Darien has never seen before, and on its center is a rose. He felt as if he just been to Wonderland with Alice. 'That old woman must have escaped from a mental hospital somewhere. No sane person would say things like that. Moon people, yeah right.' Darien sat on the bed. Wondering if the ring fits him, he placed the ring on his finger. Suddenly he felt all dizzy, as if his world is spinning around him, and he was being sucked though a vortex that he couldn't escape. He felt like he's falling to emptiness, like he wouldn't stop falling. Images blurred around his head and everything became a kaleidoscope of color. He closed his eyes. After what seemed like an eternity, the dizziness stopped. He opened his eyes... and he couldn't believe what he saw.
