Title: Soulmate Express Part: Prologue Author: Aquamarine Angel Edited By: Crescent Moon Email: aquamarineangel@sailormoon.com Homepage: http://www.geocities.com/universe_guardians Kinnichiwa, Minna-san! Aquamarine Angel signing on for the mission! What mission, you ask? The tale of the soulmates, of coarse! We've all read a few fanfiction stories about the Sailor Scouts and their soulmates. Well, I've decided to write my own version of the tragic love stories. This one takes place during the present era. Someday I might write the prequel! =================================================================== ---------------Soulmate Express by Aquamarine Angel---------------- =================================================================== ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Prologue ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I want to end it with you," Mamoru said, coldly. Not an once of true feeling was revealed in his voice. His steel blue eyes gazed off in the distance, avoiding Usagi's searching gaze. "I can't believe that. You were Endymion. I was Serenity. We were together before we were even born," Usagi replied. Her voice trembled with pent up tears. *He can't really mean what he says... can he? After all we've been through just to be together?* "I'm saying I don't like that anymore. Why do I have to go out with you because of the past? I..." Mamoru trailed off as a single tear trickled down Usagi's face and fell to the ground. Usagi quickly whipped away her tears and looked at the ground, ashamed. *This is no time for crying. Tears will only make Mamo-chan want to break up with you more. Why would he want to be with a silly girl who can't control her tears?* Suddenly, Usagi spotted two shoes... They were a pair of small, black dress shoes... Chibi-Usa! "Maybe you like Chibi-Usa more than me," Usagi murmured, bringing her eyes back to Mamoru's face, trying to locate a trace of the reaction that wasn't there. "Don't say such stupid things." *He thinks I'm stupid...* Usagi's heart ached. It was like Mamoru was stabbing her with the sharpest dagger imaginable, rather than speaking to her with words. *Oh, Mamo-chan! Do you think I'm forcing you into a relationship that you have no desire for?* "I'm sorry for making you go out with me!" Usagi cried. At that she whirled around and dashed out of the apartment building, blond pigtails flying. Once out of sight of the building, Usagi slowed to a walk and wandered into a telephone booth. She crouched down and started crying. "I'm sorry, mother. I can't bring Mamoru home any more." * * The next day * * "Miss Haruna?" Usagi murmured. Her red headed teacher looked at her, surprised to see her most air-headed student at school and in class half an hour early. "What is it, Usagi?" Miss Haruna asked, worried. *It's now or never, girl. Usagi took a deep breath.* "I would like to transfer to the United States, with the student exchange program," she explained. "I have my parents signatures, already. I just need yours." Miss Haruna looked positively shocked. "Why do you want to go to America, Usagi? Won't you miss your friends?" It was Usagi's turn to be shocked. She hadn't expected Miss Haruna to care if she went or not. If anything, she had expected her boy-crazy teacher to sign the permission slip as fast as possible so that she could get her worse student off her hands. *Is it possible that Miss Haruna actually cares...? Think fast, Usagi! I can't tell Miss Haruna the truth or she'll make me work it out. This isn't something I can work out!* "Well... You see, Miss Haruna, I think I've botched things up here..." Usagi had a plan. "What do you mean?" Miss Haruna probed. "I've created a reputation for being an air-headed ditz who can't even make it to school on time much less pass a test. I want to change that by starting over someplace new. I figure if I go someplace where no one knows what I'm like, people won't be prejudiced against me when I try to do well in school. Not to mention, I really want to see the world! What better way to see the world, than go to America where people from all races and nationalities live?" *Wow! Did that come out of _me_?* Miss Haruna looked dumbfounded. She never knew that Usagi felt like she was being held back. Immense guilt welled up with in the teacher. How could she deny her student the chance to start over when she had contributed to Usagi's feeling of helplessness? "I'm sorry, Usagi. I underestimated you. Of course I'll sign the permission slip." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ END OF PROLOGUE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter one is on the way!
