Title: From Thy Kingdoms Come - Chapter 6 Author: Aquamarine Angel Rating: PG Edited by: Crescent Moon E-mail: aquamarineangel@sailormoon.com Web page: http://www.geocities.com/universe_guardians ____________________________________________________________________________ Trever glanced in the mirror. His hair was pure gold. His eyes a warm golden brown. He was tall, almost 6 feet, with an average build. His skin was slightly tanned - even though it wasn't summer. He was wearing blue slacks with a stylish sweater. 'Not to shabby,' he thought. 'Samantha should be impressed - I hope!' After making sure he looked presentable, Trever shot out the door in a hurry to see his "beloved" Samantha. He slowed from a run, to a quick walk when he reached the corner of his street. After taking a few turns, he found himself standing in front of the former book shop. The shop really did take on the form of some mystical and forbidden place. There were colored lanterns decorating the entire outside of the Magic Shop. A sign was hanging above the entrance with the words "The Middle Age Shop of Magic and Mystery." 'Alliteration,' Trever thought. 'That is the only reason that sign works. Too bad no one ever tries thinking of anything more creative.' Trever took a deep breath and opened the door to the shop. Boy was the shop ever crowded! Over twenty people were shoved into the small shop. The shop itself was very organized and very spooky looking. There were candles everywhere, as well as fake spider webs, and jack-o-lanterns and all sorts of strange things like ouji boards and tarot cards. Trever was getting the creeps. Something wasn't right. He knew everything was set up in good fun, but he couldn't help feeling that something terrible was just waiting to happen. The other people in the store didn't seem to share his concern. "The place looks like something out of a bad Halloween movie, huh?" a voice said from behind Trever. He recognized the voice immediately. "Samantha!" Trever exclaimed as he turned around. "The one and only! Great party, huh? Not! I've never been so incredibly bored in my life," commented Samantha. "I'm glad you're here." "Where else would I be? This party does seem awfully dead...." Trever said. "The owner of the store hasn't shown up yet. When he gets here, he is going to give a speech. After that, I think there is dancing and buying and selling involved," Samantha said. Just then an young man pushed past them. He was about 23 or 24. His hair was black and his eyes were brown. He didn't seem quite right.... The man walked straight to the podium that was set up by the sound equipment. Then he spoke. "Sorry, I'm late. I want to thank you for joining myself and my staff members. This is to be a happy little celebration. That means this boring speak of mine will kept short to ease your suffering." < < Laughter > > "Now lets cut the red ribbon that is behind me, and watch magic at its best. I'm warning you all, none of this is an illusion," the gentleman said. Then he cut the ribbon. Chaos broke loose. "Oh my god!" Samantha cried, as the magic shop faded into nothing and all the party-goers found themselves in a strange room of stone. It seemed almost deathly cold in this room. Puddles of water were frozen on the ground. There were no windows. The only way out was the bared metal door. Trever could see his own breath in front of him. Things weren't so bad for him, he'd lived by Lake Superior for years before moving to Florida. Samantha, on the other hand, wasn't taking the intense cold very well. She was shivering and tears were running down her cheeks. Trever took a chance, and pulled Samantha close in a warming embrace. She smiled at him gratefully and his heart melted. Reality overtook the two of them soon enough. The other people who had attended the "grand opening" were crying out in fear, trying desperately to find some logic in what had happened. Their mad hope was that this was all an illusion and that it would fade. Somehow, Trever knew this was no illusion. Samantha knew it too. Then it struck him full force. The gentleman. He jerked around towards the direction that the man should be located. There he stood, completely unfazed. In fact, the man looked pleased with himself. Trever made a move towards him, but was shocked to find that Samantha was holding him back. "I know," she said. "I'll take care of it, just as soon as I find out what he's up to." Trever looked at her, astonished. "Find out what... Waite a minute! You knew he was going to do this!?" Trever cried. "Sssshhhhhhh! Not so loud!" she hissed. "Sorry, but would you please explain what's going on. I don't know what to think anymore. Something terrible is going on here and I don't know if you're a part of it or not," Trever whispered, agitated. He was more than a little frustrated at the moment. The chill was beginning to sink into his bones ever though he and Samantha were huddled close together. "It is kind of a long story. To make things short, my real name is Sara Stormwell. I'm know how to use real magic. I just started training just a few weeks ago when I was attacked by a minion of that man. I was the only one who didn't fall under his spell. I then helped the mighty sailor soldier, Lady Pluto. She then revealed that I was a sailor soldier as well, and that I must give up everything to save the universe. I wasn't actually supposed to be at the shop, but Pluto went off looking for other soldiers. I wanted to help, so I decided that I would try to fight off the dark forces, myself. It is good practice, I guess. I kind of regret my actions, though. I don't know if I can get everyone to safety on my own, and Pluto can't help us now..." the revealed Sara explained. The look of confusion and regret on her face tore at Trever's heart. He didn't know if he should believe her or not, but somehow he couldn't bring himself to doubt her. "Look, I'm a bit upset that you lied to me. I also have trouble believing all this stuff about magic and soldiers and all this saving the universe stuff, but I do know that something evil is here and that man is it. I'm going to help you fight this. I'm not completely useless if we have to fight. I've also read a few mysteries. Spying is my specialty - after all I have to keep tabs on my little sister. If we're going to get everyone back to the magic shop, we've going to have to do it together. Right?" Trever said. He was all seriousness. Saman - Sara was giving him one of those looks that made him want to forgive all sins and just hug her. "Right," was her reply. Before anything more could be said, the man spoke. "If all you terranian cowards are quite finished running around like chickens with your heads cut off, I would like to introduce you to the reason you're all here...." END OF CHAPTER 6
