Subject: Dark on the Outside - Chapter 6 by Ari --------------------------------------------------------------------- DARK ON THE OUTSIDE DISCLAIMERS: If you've read any previous chapter of my story, you know what I would usually write in this particular area. =====CHAPTER 6: ALL NOT SO QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT===== MEANWHILE, BACK IN AMERICA DOVE GROVE, NEW JERSEY DEGENERATE HQ The exact opposite of the Achievers, the Degenerates were evil, sick, demented, and all-around bad guys. They wanted to rule the world more than anything, and would destroy all who opposed them. So obvi- ously, their arch-rivals, the Achievers, were #1 on their hit list. If the couldn't get anything else, they want to see their leader, Owen Teei, suffer a slow, painful death. In a private office, a trashy-looking man (i.e. Satan-worship- ping junkee) sat in a chair, in deep thought. He pondered the possibi- lities as to how he can attack next. Of all the things he wanted to do to those damn Achievers.... "Um, excuse me sir," a low-ranking soldier came in, crashing his train of thought. "There's something here you need to see." The soldier led the man through several corridors to the war room. An ob- vious copy of the Achiever equipment, the Degenerate War Room had eve- ry thing of the legit form, save for the right lighting. And then he sat down in his big, plush chair. He was known as the biggest threat to modern civilization. He is Marcus Westbrook. "So what have you found out?" Marcus asked. "Our spies' reports have been comfirmed. Owen Teei has indeed left for Japan one week ago today," a general said. "Excellent," Marcus said. "After one week without leadership, they will surely be in a state of confusion! Am I right?" A smile graced his face. "As far as we know so far, yes sir." "Good." Marcus walked around the room to the mainframe compu- ter. "I think we should attack soon." "Yes, sir," came the chatter of his yes-men soldiers. You see, in responce to Owen's prismatic shield on his home, Marcus put a spell on the town of Dove Grove. Those townspeople with a decent amount of hate in their hearts were made into his demonic servants. Those others were made into refugees, as lots of homes and businesses were overrun. Those unaffected citizens and Achievers which were captured were put into slavery. Few citizens were captured, since they lived on the East side of the town, east of the Teei Estate. Whatever buildings left were made into orphanages, and relief areas. "Take a look at this," Marcus said as he looked at the monitor. "There are several Achiever outposts on the outskirts of town. If we take them out, then we can starve those Achievers into submission!" As the map indicated, the DHQ, the Teei Estate, and the four Achiever outposts formed a hexagon in Dove Grove. "I'll give the attack codes, sir," another soldier said. He then went over to a keyboard, punched a series of keys, and then stepped away. MEANWHILE, AT THE ACHIEVER OUTPOST ON JERROLD AVENUE Although not as elaborate or grand as the headquarters, each of the four outposts had equipment just as powerful and advanced as the mother base. The same staff of hard-working men and women was on hand, and the base was equipped to handle any situation. A captain looked on at a monitor showing a map of the town. As he looked on, he was thinking about that day a week ago. I hope Owen's alright, he thought. But he was brought back to reality as a loud buz- zing echoed through the room. "Rayray!" someone called. "WHAT?!" he called as his trance was broken. "Take a look at this!" Rayray looked up at the monitor and saw about 2 dozen or so blips slowly making their way to the center of the radar. Those blips were Degenerate forces. "They've mobilized their army!" "Send our forces out to meet them," Rayray ordered. STREETS OF DOVE GROVE MINUTES LATER The ground thundered under the treads of the Degenerate Armed Agression. More than 20 tanks, black in color, rolled down the streets in 2 rows towards their destination. Citizens ran in fear at the site of them, and doors and windows were shut tight. A scout tank was in front of the pack, sending back information. "There's no oppostion within miles, sir," the driver said. "No one is putting up any resistance. ETA...about 3 mi-" At that, the scout tank exploded into flaming wreckage. Coming over the hill were the Achievers' forces, led by camoflague colored tanks of their own. "Aight, here's the part where we kick your ass," Rayray said, watching the fight via sattelite. Then, the battle started. The scene boomed with exploding shells and tanks from both sides, leaving nothing but chaos in their wakes. After a brutal hour-and-a-half, the damage was appalling. Many buildings were destroyed or trashed, being in the path of stray shots. The Degenerates lost half of their forces, but Achiever losses were greater, and were forced to retreat. OUTPOST JERROLD MINUTES LATER The six remaining tanks returned home to await the enemy ad- vance. Fortunately, though, the base was decently fortified, and had enough firepower to hold it's own. After about 4 minutes, the Degene- rates arrived, and resumed the battle. The Achievers used everything they had to fight back the opposition, but it was too overwhelming. All the tanks were destoryed, and most of the guns on the base were de- stroyed as well. Infantry units entered the base moments later. "Oh, shit," Rayray said, panicking. "I gotta get outta here." As he turned to run, he found himself looking down the barrell of a 9mm handgun. "Going somewhere, fatass?" the gunman asked. Desperate, Rayray kicked him in the groin, and as he fell over, elbowed him in the back. "Yeah, outta here," he said. He entered a secret escape tunnel which was connected to the Teei Mansion, and shelter. "Laida! [later]" he said as he closed the hatch. Minutes later, when he entered the A- chiever war room, he hit the tunne self-destruct button, which made the tunnel inaccessible. It took almost 2 months, but eventually, all four outposts, Prodigy, Axe, Breakdown, and Jerrold were overrun. Breakdown and Axe were completely destoryed, so they weren't commandeered. Jerrold was converted into and enemy lookout tower, while Prodigy was sabotaged as the Degenerates took over. Zimmer, Dinker, Rayray, and Remmy all made it home safely. That meant that Teei Mansion stood alone, and every effort to destroy it will be thrown at it. BACK IN JAPAN DURING THE SAME TWO MONTH TIMESPAN Chaotic effects such as those were not limited to New Jersey. While evil was winning on the other side of the Pacific, evil was hav- ing problems...especially within the nWo. First off, after a battle with the Sailor Scouts, a mysterious warrior invaded the Negaverse. He put the Deciphel under a strange enchantment, and the two were never seen again. And then there was Bret Hart. During an esper attack, Bret Hart watched from a distance away as Sailor Moon destroyed one of Kefka's espers, named Siren. After she did this, he walked slowly into site, hands up by his head and carrying a white handkerchief. Seeing that there was no danger, he put the item away, and pleaded his case. At first, the Scouts thought he was ly- ing...but his eyes said he was telling the truth. He finished by say- ing "I want to be the hero that I was!" Too bad he never got the chance. Moments after reconciling with the Scouts, Bryan Adams came a- long and "got rid of the damn traitor." Although he tried to escape, he met the wrong end of Sailor Moon's moon scepter. After Bret Hart was destroyed, Hollywood Hogan figured that the problems in the nWo would make them extremely vulnerable. So, they sent Darkheart into the battlefield to do most of the dirty work, while they worked out their difficulties amongst themselves. Several times he was accpmpanied by an esper, but he seldom stayed after the esper's inevitable destruction. While the situation in Dove Grove was clear, the opposite was true in Japan. The nWo is crumbling, but Darkheart is providing ample game for the Scouts. Will the New World Order fall apart? Can the Sailor Scouts destroy these powerful menaces? And what is the deal with Darkheart? What would possibly happen if he ever found out he was nothing more than a mere pawn in the long run? As night fell on the city, Darkheart stared out into the dark night, pondering the events of the last two months... =====TO BE CONTINUED===== It took long enough, but I finally got this chapter out. This is, so far, the biggest hurdle that I had to clear. Now, things can go far more smoothly now, to me. Don't hold back...there's plenty of room for those positive re- sponces I've been getting. But if you have any flames or whatever on those lines, then just keep them to yourself.
