THE SECOND GENERATION:High School Tales Chapter Two:Interpreter Scott woke up the next morning in his bed. 'Wow, that was one weird dream!' he thought. Little did Scott, or the others, know that what they had witnessed in the park last night was not just a strange dream, it was their parents reality and soon it would be theirs. Scott quickly got up and ran downstairs to grab a piece of toast before he had to leave for school. He grabbed a piece of toast and was about to leave when he heard his mother call him. "Scott, that is not all that you're going to eat this morning is it?" she asked. "Um, maybe, gotta go mom," Scott tried unsuccessfully to doge his mother and get out of the door. "I didn't think so. Now you sit right down and at least have some cereal." Scott reluctantly sat down and ate a bowl of cereal. Then he stood up and walked towards the door to leave. Scott glanced down at his watch. "YIKES! I'm gonna be late!" he cried. "Don't worry, I'll take you," his mother said. Five minutes later Scott was getting out of his mother's car at Litch High School. He walked to the front doors and headed towards the office to get his schedule. It was the first day of school for everyone since summer, but everyone else had received their schedule in August. All around him kids were talking in English. Even though he taken English as his foreign language Scott still didn't understand most of what they were saying, he was to nervous. Scott pushed open the office door and walked over to the principal's desk. "Hello, what can I do for you?" the principal asked(of course in English). Scott took a minute to translate what the principal had asked him. "Uh,hello,I'm Scott Kino. I'm new here and was told to come and get my schedule." Scott replied in fairly good English. "Oh, you are the student from Japan correct?" the principal asked. Scott nodded his head yes. "Well, lets see what we can do for you." the principal took a few pieces of paper from his desk. One was Scott's schedule the other's were information for his parents. then the principal told one of the secretaries to call someone down to the office. "We have a interpreter for you so you can understand what the teachers are saying, however you speak English very well." the principal said. "Thanks," Scott told him. A few minutes later a girl entered the office. She was short(or at least shorter than the six foot Scott)was very pretty and had deep auburn hair. Scott immediately recognized her as Tegan, his mother's friends daughter. "Ah, Ms. Aino, thank you for volunteering to be the interpreter for our new student." the principal said, then he addressed Scott. "this is Tegan Aino, one of our best students. She will be in all of your classes with you and interpret the language for you." With that the principal dismissed them. "Hi, I've met you before haven't I?" Tegan asked as they left the office. "Um, yeah your mom is one of my mom's old friends," Scott said, then he realized that she had been speaking almost perfect Japanese. "Hey, where'd you learn to speak Japanese?" "I lived in Japan for seven years and in the United States for six. How do you know English though? You almost don't need an interpreter." Tegan informed him. "Thanks, I took it as my foreign language in my old high school." Scott replied. They walked down the hall a bit more then came to their homeroom. As soon as they were both seated in the back the teacher began calling roll. (Note: from now on everyone is speaking English unless there's something that says otherwise.) " Tegan Aino." "Here." " Daniel Chiba." "Here." " Mariana Hino." "here." " Scott Kino." "Here." Scott noticed that pretty much all of his mother's friends's children were in his homeroom. " Robin Mizuno." "Here." " Lindsay Tuskino." "Here." "Alright. Now class open your algebra books to page 132." * * * Scott turned up the driveway and unlocked the back door. All in all he had had a pretty good first day. He had become friends with Daniel, Lindsay, Tegan, Robin and Mariana. "Hi mom I'm home!" he called. No one answered. 'That's strange,' he thought. Scott found a note on the counter. Scott, Please come to the forest after school. It's very important that you come. Love, Mom Scott dropped his book bag and ran all the way to the Tokyo forest. When he got there Tegan, Daniel, Lindsay, Robin and Mariana were there. "What's going on here?" Scott asked. Everyone just shrugged their shoulders. Just then six figures started to approach them.
