This is the ending (well, basically) of the Negamoon saga that I created in my head, back in December 1995, when DIC started showing reruns instead of the ending episodes. I didn't put it to "paper" till I found fanfics on the internet. Till then I thought I was the only goofy person who liked to imagine new endings to shows. Long live the goofs! Without us, you "normal" people would be bord. By the time I decided to write this story, I had learned the ending, via the internet, of course. As such, I have used a few facts learned from Hitoshi Doi's Sailor Moon page to suit my purposes. So sue me. Warning Will Robinson: Retaining an attorney will cost more than my entire net worth. So sue someone else. This is the paragraph where I write: All the characters (except a few minor droids and such) were created by someone else and don't belong to me. So I will understand if you skip this paragraph. Too late. I hope everyone enjoys reading my story. Things you should know before you read: 1. In keeping with the show's comedic style, I placed some of the anime's cartoon expressions in the narrative. 2. I spelled Leta with an E. I prefer this spelling. 3. To the characters who were not given a last name in the dub, I have given them a close translation of their original surnames. Ex.: Serena's name is Moon. Melvin is the only exception because I haven't figured out what his surname means. 4. In the episode "Talk Radio," Serena's parents discussed their anniversary. Later, over the air waves an Ann dedicated a song to her husband for their anniversary. For that reason, I assumed that Ann was Serena's mother. OPERATION END THIS STORY LINE By Cloretta Bailey Baileyct@ionet.net My brother's address so please go lightly on the flames. Episode 1: Operation Find Sailor Moon "How many times do I have to say it, Serena? It's over." Darien's gaze never flinched as he said the words. He had never been able to look her in the eyes while saying them before. His words washed over her like a dark wave of negaenergy but hurt far more. "Why?" she whispered. Darien's gaze faltered, but his determination didn't. "It just is." The old Serena would have flooded the bridge where they stood with her tears, but that crybaby no longer existed. She had grown up a lot in the year since she became Sailor Moon. Serena was a princess, and Princesses did not shed tears in public. Instead, she gripped the guard rail on the bridge where they stood and looked out at the Tokyo streets below. She would like to have been able to hold his gaze as he had done, but she wasn't that strong. Not yet. Even though Darien's hair wasn't red, Serena loved him so much she had given him a final chance. He had rejected her just as she knew he would. Serena had some pride. She had never used it before--not in her 15 years of life on Earth--but she needed it now. "Good-bye Darien," she stated calmly. "I hope you find someone to make you happy." Serena turned and walked away. Darien watched her retreat with a despondent expression. A tear slid down his cheek. Serena walked blindly down the street, oblivious to her surroundings. She knew there was a reason Darien jilted her, but he wouldn't tell her. She deserved better treatment. Now she had to get over him, so she could someday be happy with her red-head. Luna saw Serena. The black cat had gotten worried. Serena was later then usual for the scout meeting. She was even the person who arranged the meeting, saying it was urgent. Today wasn't their usual day. Amy had to skip computer school to be there. Luna called to Serena but the girl kept walking. Serena felt her composure begin to weaken. She ran toward the secluded trees near Raye's temple. Once she reached them, she threw herself against the truck of a large Cherry tree and the tears flowed. By the time Luna caught up with her, Serena had slid down the tree to curl up in a tight ball on the ground. The ground was muddy from a rain storm the day before, and Serena seemed to be rubbing her school uniform in the mud. Luna started to tell her to stop crying but didn't. Serena's tears were from the soul and that meant Darien was the cause. That jerk had hurt her again. Luna had an urge to claw some sense into the boy. Instead, she curled up next to her princess to comfort her as only the guardian cat could. The other girls joined the twosome by the tree. Soon, all five girls and both cats were crying. They knew the reason was Darien. None of them noticed when the child with pink hair and red eyes arrived. "Why is everyone sad?" Renie asked. "That creep," said Leta. "I choked him once. I wish I had never stopped." "Get in line. Next time I see that maggot, he's history," Mina stated. "We'll see how flame retardant that cape really is." Amy mumbled something about finding the most painful way to die and started punching up data on her mini computer. "We could shrink his head," Leta suggested then shook her head. "No, been done." "When?" Artemis asked. "An Artful Attack," Mina answered. "At the construction sight with Sailor Moon." "Zoicite do it to him?" "No, the creator did." "Why do you know that, Mina? You weren't part of the team during that episode," a muddy Luna asked. "The creator made me first." "Thirty-nine lashes with a cat-o'-nine-tails followed by crucifixion," Amy said in awe. "Those Romans sure knew how to kill." "A cat with nine tails!" Both Artemis and Luna looked at their single tails and heaved a sigh of relief. "Who are we going to kill?" asked Renie. "Darien" was the answer supplied by six voices. "No! You can't hurt him. He's Tuxedo Mask." "How did you know that?" Raye asked. "You're the scouts, so he must be Tuxedo Mask." "They won't hurt him," Serena said. She hadn't wanted Renie to see her in her disheveled condition. Renie had discovered she was Sailor Moon. Serena didn't want her learning the rest. "Go help Grandpa play a prank on Chad or something. I need to talk to the girls alone." Renie looked doubtful. "You promise you won't hurt Darien. Serena is too ditzy for him anyway." "Why you--" Serena stood and tried another approach. "Renie, leave NOW!" The mud splattered blond was a fearsome sight. Renie blanched, turned toward the temple and ran as if Rubeus were after her. "But don't leave the temple grounds," Serena called. She wiped mud from her face then dejectedly sat back down. "Some mother I am." "Since when did you want to act like Renie's mother?" Luna asked. "Since I figured out that I AM Renie's mother." Six sets of eyes became dots as they all cried, "WHAT?" "I should have figured it out sooner, but all I have been able to do is think about Darien. I've failed my own daughter." Tears threatened to come again. The scouts dreaded this tirade, but it never came. Serena had no more tears left. "I can't protect her when all I think about is Darien." "Get over him," Raye said harshly. "It's easier than you think." "But I've tried." "You haven't tried hard enough. Forget him," Leta added. "Forget . . . How?" Serena looked at each of her friends but no one had an answer. Finally her gaze fell on the black cat. "Luna make me forget." Luna raised her paw and pointed at herself. "Me . . . How?" "Of course, the Luna Mind-Meld," Amy said. "Couldn't it work in reverse?" "I don't know. I've never tried it." "Well, do so," her six companions said. "Are you sure, Serena? If it works, you might forget all of us." "Oh yeah . . . Well if I don't know you guys, then undo it." "Then we try crucifixion," Leta added with glee. At first it didn't seem to work, but Artemis wiped the mud from Luna's crescent moon and the meld began. It took longer than usual. Luna had to search Serena's mind for memories of her romance with Darien. Serena made is easier as she wasn't fighting Luna's attempts, but it was a complicated process. When at last the meld was complete, the six companions watched a dazed Serena as she slowly became aware of her surroundings. "Luna, you're all muddy. . . Why is everyone looking at me?" She gazed at her own grungy appearance. "Oh Luna, I'm sorry. I tripped again didn't I?" She stood and tried to wipe the mud from her skirt. It was hopeless. She even had mud caked in her pony-tails. "Oh no, Renie saw me like this. Now she'll have another reason to gloat. If she ever figures out I'm her mother, she'll be ashamed of me." Before despair set in Raye took Serena by the arm. "Let's get you cleaned up. You can ware one of my Shinto robes while we wash your clothes." Floating Mirror in Blue Space The dark interior of Rubeus' spaceship reflected his black mood. He started to put his fist throw a mirror, but it was the only one left. Rubeus had broken all the others when the sisters were healed. Those traitors would pay for their treachery. He should never have trusted them. They were incompetent pawns. Mental note: No more pawns. What had to be done he would do himself. He was expecting a visit any moment from the Wiseman. Rubeus hadn't seen him since he had given Rubeus the strobe two days before. He was sure to endure the Wiseman's displeasure. He needed a plan, a good one. "Rubeus," said the Wiseman when he arrived. "You have failed to get the sisters back. Fail again and I will dispose of you." "It's those scouts. They keep getting in the way. But I'll get that rabbit and the crystal yet." "The scouts are unimportant for now. I have noticed a resemblance between Queen Serena of Crystal Tokyo and Sailor Moon. They are the same person." "How is that possible?" "It makes no difference. I want Sailor Moon brought to me." "I don't even know who she is," Rubeus said desperately. "Sailor Moon must have the crystal. She always arrives where the crystal is supposed to be." 'She always arrives to protect the rabbit, but that doesn't mean they are the same person,' Rubeus thought. He wouldn't have dared say it aloud. "The crystal will make another appearance tomorrow, Rubeus. Send a droid to wreak havoc and keep the scouts busy. Go observe and report back to me when you discover Sailor Moon's identity. I have plans for her." Commercial Break The muffins were moist. Serena was on her fourth. With all her wiggling, Mina was having trouble combing Serena's freshly washed hair. "Stop eating and start talking," Raye said from her perch by the door. They were sitting in her bedroom and Raye was keeping watch. They didn't want to be disturbed. "Why are you always so mean to me?" Serena whined. "Mean? I just washed your clothes and loaned you mine while they dry without a thank you, I might add." "Please," Amy interrupted. "Tell us why you think Renie is your daughter." "Okay. Well first, Renie's name is a shortened version of mine. She claims to have her mother's hairstyle. It's mine. She has a crescent moon on her forehead. So do I." "Artemis and Luna do too," Mina added as she continued to comb Serena's hair. "They're cats," said Raye. "How many human's do you know with moon's on their foreheads?" "I've got a four on my head," the mistress of Jupiter added with a smile. At the look she received from the others, she looked down at her cup of tea. "Okay, bad joke." "What other proof do you have? At best, this is all circumstantial," Amy said. "The Luna ball called Renie a princess. I'm the moon princess." "Therefore, any future moon princess must go through you," Amy concluded. "Exactly, the Luna ball also said there were four female warriors who protected her. The same four scouts that are here in the past." "But there are five of us," said Leta. "We must get reincarnated again," Mina said with a grin. "Cool." "Rubeus told me he had seen the future and I wasn't in it." "If we are reincarnated again, then so are you," Raye said in a voice that accepted no arguments. "Rubeus isn't very smart," said Amy. "He chased away his loyal support." "What do you expect from a guy whose moon symbol is upside down," Serena added with a giggle. "It wouldn't hold water," Amy replied. "His intelligence must have leaked out." The scouts laughed. It felt good to relieve tension from the subject. When Amy calmed down she had to agree. "Serena is Renie's mother." "Who is Renie's father?" Leta asked "A guy with red hair." Mina started to ask about Darien but bit down on her tongue to stop herself. She squealed and grabbed at her mouth. In the process, she pulled Serena's hair causing Serena to fall backwards against Mina. Both girls hit the floor with a crash, Mina the hardest. "Ouch, that hurt." Serena rubbed the back of her head. Mina, who was rubbing her nose and head as well as curling her tongue, had a distorted expression. 'You don't know how much,' she thought. She started crossing her eyes and sticking out her tongue. "What are you doing?" Amy asked. "Checking for blood." "Why did you bite your tongue?" Serena asked. Dangerous territory. "What makes you think Renie's father has red hair," she countered. "Yeah, how do you figure that?" Artemis asked. "Better make it fast. Grandpa and Renie are on their way here." Raye moved to sit next to the others. No sense in letting Grandpa know the girls had a secret to guard. "Simple, I'm a blond. Queen Serenity had white hair. Renie's hair is pink." "So?" Serena looked at them as if they were stupid. "Duuhhh! White and red makes pink." The four members of her court slapped their heads and fell backwards. Renie entered the room followed by Grandpa. He was carrying Serena's uniform freshly dried and folded. Renie surveyed the girls on the floor. "Serena, did you say something stupid again?" Serena grabbed at Renie but missed. Grandpa handed her the uniform, so Serena went to the restroom to change. "What was so important that you girls needed to watch for intruders?" Raye stood and looked down at her grandfather. "None of your business." "It's no secret," said Amy. She sat calmly and sipped her tea. The girls held their breath waiting for her answer. "We were discussing the dance a week from Saturday." The girls gave a relieved sigh. Serena returned wearing her school uniform. "What about it?" Grandpa laughed and advised them to get their lies straight next time then left the room. "What dance?" asked Renie. "The city wide junior high dance," Amy replied. "All the students from all the junior highs are invited," Raye added. "Does anyone have a date?" Serena asked. Raye, Mina, and Leta looked disgusted and shook their heads. Amy, however, looked guilty. "Greg's going to be in town that weekend. Sorry." "I don't have a date either," Serena said. "Darien refuse?" Renie gloated. Raye and Mina gagged the girl. "Darien? Why would I ask him?" Serena had a fleeting glimpse of a memory, but it was gone before she could make sense of it. "I have to have a date. Freddie is going to be there with his latest simpering little miss." "You probably won't see him, Leta," Raye said. "Thousands of people will be on the grounds that night." "He enjoys watching his former girlfriends suffer while he shows off his latest conquest." "And you liked him?" the girls said disgusted. "What about Ken?" Mina asked "He's like a brother to me. Freddie knows that." "Does Ken have a date?" asked Serena. Once Leta confirmed that Ken was free. Serena thought of a solution. Raye would take Chad. Leta would fix Ken up with Mina and ask Andrew to take her. Leta was dubious and said so. "Rita is in Africa, so Andrew's Saturday nights are free. He is a nice guy. He'll take you if you tell him about Freddie." "I want a date, not sympathy." "Leta, work with me here. You need a gorgeous guy to shove back in Freddie's face. Andrew is definitely that. I used to have a crush on him." "When?" Renie grumbled. "I like Andrew and I would love to have a date to rub in Freddie's nose." "I don't know Ken," Mina said. "You'll love him." "Oh, then why haven't you introduced him to me before?" "I never thought about it." "Chad would be okay as long as he doesn't sing, but Grandpa won't let me date till I'm 16." Serena couldn't think of a solution to that problem, but Amy had no trouble. "Tell Grandpa you are going stag, but Chad will be there to guard you against all the boys who want to date you before you turn 16." "That might work." Raye resolved to try. "What about Serena?" Mina asked. "Nobody would go with her," said Renie. "She can't dance." "You ungrateful brat. I'm tempted not to go looking for the red-haired guy. That way you won't even be--" Amy covered Serena's mouth. "What guy?" "The guy who is going to worship the ground she walks on till the end of time." Leta replied wishing she had one. "Ooh," Serena clasped her hands together. "Unlimited fawning over me. I like that idea." "As if," Renie countered. "That's it. You're getting a spanking." Serena stood to chase after the pink-haired child, but tripped over Raye's leg instead. * * * * * * "Serena!" her mother, Ann, yelled when she saw the teen's messy bedroom. "Get out of bed and clean this room." Luna was startled awake. She jumped stiff legged and latched onto the ceiling, with all four sets of claws. The room below was disheveled. The contents of all Serena's drawers--even the drawers themselves--were scattered around the room. Renie had been searching for the crystal again. "I cleaned my room last night," Serena mumbled and rolled over. Ann sighed. She jerked the cover off the bed. Serena set up and opened her eyes. "RENIE! You're history." "Don't blame your cousin for your mess. You are not getting any breakfast till you clean your room." Ann stormed out the door. Luna dropped to the bed in front of Serena. Serena screamed and jumped backwards banging her head against the headboard. A bunny picture fell from the wall and hit Serena. She sat stunned; her eyes moved in zombie circles. Sammy, standing in the doorway, laughed. "Hay Meatball Head, you're better than a comedy routine. I should video tape you. I could win some money on TV." Serena threw her top pillow at him but hit the door he closed behind his retreat instead. She could hear his laughter as he descended the stairs. "Serena, do you still have your Crystal Star Locket?" Serena dove for her hiding place inside the pillow case of her bottom pillow. The locket was still there. She stood and started straightening up her room. "I'm hungry." "You're always hungry." "I don't see you growing feathers." While Serena cleaned her room, she found something she didn't know she had. She remembered the bunny frame, but why did it have a picture of herself with Darien? She seemed to remember Darien rowing her out into the park lake. When had she done that? More importantly, Why? It didn't make sense. Oh well, Breakfast was waiting. Commercial Break Serena didn't understand Leta. She wasn't the type to get cold feet. However, the moment they rounded the corner and saw Andrew, Darien and Renie out front of the Crown Game Center, she had frozen. Serena had to pull Leta after her. "What if Andrew won't go?" "We'll make Darien take you." "I'm not that desperate." Though Serena didn't know why, she felt insulted. "Darien's not that bad. He's cranky and rude but good looking. I used to have a crush on Tuxedo Mask." "You used to have a crush on everyone." "Look who's talking." "I've never had a crush on Darien," Leta said indignantly. At the mention of his name Darien looked at the approaching girls then glanced away. He said good-buy to Andrew and walked off. Renie ran after him, "Wait Darien, I want to talk to you," Serena called. "Hi Andrew. Bye Leta. Talk to you guys later." When the blond caught up with him Darien said, "We're through, Serena. I thought you understood that yesterday." "Trough with what?" "Go away. Darien's my boyfriend now," said Renie. "You weasel, you trashed my room." "Give me the crystal." "It's my crystal. You're not getting it." As the two continued to argue, a sweat drop appeared on Darien's head. He felt a Serena/Renie headache coming on. "I'm leaving." "You can't leave." Serena grabbed his arm. "Leta's asking Andrew to take her to the Jr. high dance. If he refuses, you have to." "Darien's not taking you to the dance." "Me? I'm not that desperate." 'Hay,' she thought. 'That's what Leta said.' "I've got a date." Darien's eyes narrowed. "What are you up to now?" "I'm destined to marry a red-head, but I don't know him yet. Are you okay? You look a little green." "I'm fine," Darien choked. If he saw her talking to another boy--red hair or otherwise--he wasn't sure if he could stop himself from killing the guy. One rose between the eyes and Bye-bye! Then he would have to explain to the police. Even worse, Serena would know he still loved her. "You're getting greener." Serena formed a cross with her fingers. "If you're ill, stay away from me." Darien glanced at Andrew. His friend looked like Darien felt. Trapped. "Who is this red-head?" "That's what I would like to know," Renie said. "I don't know. I haven't met him yet. Darien, do you know any red-heads?" "Andrew's sister and your friend Molly." "Ugh. I'm not gay. I want a guy." "In case you haven't noticed, most people in Japan have black hair. You're one of the only three blondes I know." He was no help. Darien didn't even sound like he wanted to help her find a date. So why did she feel pleased by that? She looked back toward the arcade. Andrew had gone inside and Leta was walking toward them with a triumphant expression. She started waving wildly, so Serena did likewise. "I think Leta's waving at the boy walking toward us," Darien whispered. Serena turned around and blushed. "Oh, hi Ken." Darien was annoyed by Serena's blush. This kid had brown hair. Reddish-brown hair. If it were anymore red, this Ken would be dead. "Do I know you? Are you Mina Love?" Ken asked. "No, this is Serena Moon. Mina will be here shortly." Leta said. "I'm not sure I like the idea of a blind date." "Mina's blond, not blind." Serena would have said more but across the street lounging against a light post was the best looking guy with red hair she had ever seen. In fact, he was the only guy with red hair she had ever seen outside of the evil Rubeus and foreign movies. He seemed to be staring straight at Serena. Her eyes became hearts as she thought he likes me already. But the guy turned and started to walk away. "Wait!" Serena pushed up her jacket sleeves and said, "Look out world. I've got a guy to catch." She ran after him leaving a dust cloud behind her. When Leta saw the expression on Darien's face, she almost laughed. "Serena's free to go after any guy she wants." Leta would have gloated more but a loud crash came from the arcade. Kids came out screaming. "There are a couple of wackoes in there." Leta started to go inside but Ken held her back. If she went in the arcade, Ken would follow. She couldn't risk his life; so the two, along with Renie, watched from a safe distance. As Darien entered, he saw two muscle-bound droids fling the video games around like they were bowling pins. Darien soon discovered his mistake. He couldn't transform into Tuxedo Mask without Andrew and several others seeing him, so he was forced to do as Andrew was doing. Dodging the machines as they were hitting the walls. Commercial Break Sailor Venus appeared in the doorway of the Crown Game Center. "How dare you destroy the enjoyment of kids." Ken's eyes bulged. "A sailor scout, wow!" "You have destroyed my Sailor V game. For that I will punish you. Venus crescent beam, shatter!" The beam divided in half and smashed into both droids. Angry sparks showered the floor around them, but the droids didn't slow their attacks. Mars arrived and sent a celestial fire after one droid while Venus crescent beamed the other a second time. Mercury arrived. She saw Darien running around like a target in a duck shoot, so she bubbled Darien's corner of the store to hide his transformation. Outside, Serena returned disgruntled. She had lost the red head in a crowd. "What's happening?" "Sailor scouts battle," Ken replied. Serena retreated to a nearby alley. She quickly transformed and ran to join the others. Floating above the alley, the guy with red hair watched her. The Negamoon symbol and sneer were the only flaws on Rubeus' handsome face. Phase one complete. He disguised himself as a normal teen and morphed to another location nearby waiting for the droids to be destroyed. Inside the arcade, Mars and Mercury alternated between firing and freezing one droid while Tuxedo Mask repeatedly bombarded the second with roses. He didn't miss once. He pretended the droid had red hair. Venus sent a love chain after the first droid then threw the chain to Mercury and Mars. She then encircled the second droid with another chain. Tuxedo Mask helped her with it. At the count of three, the four warriors, who were standing between the droids, yanked with all their strength and jumped clear. The two droids crashed into each other and fell to the floor. Their eyes spun around in zombie circles. Sailor Moon stepped in with her scepter and eliminated them. Ken rushed up to Venus. "You're Sailor Venus aren't you? You're great." Venus looked at him and hearts appeared in her eyes. "Uh huh." "And Sailor V?" "Uh huh." "Are you free for the Jr. high dance?" "Uh huh." "What's your name?" Mina attempted to answer, but the other scouts dragged her away. Leta tapped on Ken's shoulder. "In case you've forgotten, you have a date." "But I've just fallen in love." Andrew crawled out from under some rubble and dusted himself off. "Where is Darien?" "Over here," Darien answered. With Renie's help, he dug himself out from under the debris he had just piled on himself. Serena and Mina walked through the door. "What happened?" Serena asked. Mina walked up to Ken and gazed at him. Leta introduced her but Ken hardly noticed. He was too busy praising Sailor Venus. He didn't even notice that Serena had asked the same question earlier. According to Ken, Venus had dispatched the "at least twenty" monsters with no trouble and no assistance. "Serena, did you catch the red-head?" Darien tried to sound nonchalant but Leta heard jealousy in his voice. "Your fault," she whispered. "No," Serena replied. "But I'll find my red-head yet." Outside the door, Rubeus listened with a conspiratorial gleam in his red eyes. So, Sailor Moon--AKA Serena--liked red-heads. His laughter rang out as he morphed back to his spaceship.
