Miru by Black Beyond ***************** The battle stopped as everyone turned to stare at me as the lights began to build up, swirling around me furiously. I hacked away at them, telling them to hurry. I needed to assist them... And there I was. Even the Elder Senshi, even Neo Sailor Moon, who had seen it before, was standing memorized. "I *am* the messengar from the depths of death. Carrier of the protection of the planet of ruin, Saturn. The soldier of Silence, Sailor Saturn!" I could feel the raw power inside the glaive, awaiting my command. So, I gave it. "Silence Glaive Apply!" I sent a wave of power rippling over the ground, passing harmlessly under the senshi, only to slam into the army of demons with such force it threw us all back. I noticed that they crumbled like a smashed sandcastle against it. It clicked. They could protect themselves from attacks they were used to... like bugs and pesticides... "They can form a resistance against your attacks!" Elder Mercury screamed at the same time. She held up her hands. "Mercury Aqua Illusion!" A diiferent attack flew at the few youma left. "Shabon Spray Freezing!" "Crescent Beam Shatter!" "Fire Soul Bird!" "Supreme Thunder Dragon!" "Silence Glaive Apply!" I had a good idea that they didn't *want* to form a resistance against my attack simply because they were afraid of what I'd pull out next. They really didn't want to see what else I had. Insert evil villian laugh here, please. Now there was nothing but a mountain of dust that was slowly disappearing as the wind swept it away. That went unnoticed to the Neo senshi, who were staring at me like my skin had suddenly turned green. Uh oh. "Heh heh.... Hi, guys. Princess. So... I saw you guys getting canned, so I thought, hey, why not help out a little..." Big long, uncomfortable pause. "I'm in trouble, aren't I?" ~**~ "It was *after* the youma appeared!" "But still, you were told not to..." "What are you going to do, take away my henshin wand?" "Probably!" "You can't. I'm Sailor Saturn." "Not really. Not yet. We have no proof that any of the Neo-Senshi are senshi until your marks surface!" "But I kicked butt out there. They would have been dead meat." "It doesn't matter." "But Serenity!" "No buts." "It doesn't matter that I probably saved your daughter's life?" "No." "Oh, I'm sure she'll be thrilled to hear that." "Miru..." "Serenity, no. You don't understand. All my life... these dreams and feelings of something I've never been able to identify have always been there, and finally, I get something that doesn't let it all come out but a little, just so that I don't go out of my mind, and you're telling me it may not be mine and not to use it!" "Dreams? Feelings?" Luna pipped up. "What kind of dreams? What kind of feelings?" I went pale. Oops, did I say that? Busted, Miru. "Just dreams. I'm inside other's minds... I can see everything, their hopes and worries. I've done it a few times when I'm awake, too. And feelings of... I don't know how to say it..." "Of what?" The cat pressed. "Of something hidden beneath everything else! It's like the whole universe, only not, because it's just so much... I guess power, and I don't know how to say it. But it's all packed down. When you told me to say the words, there were the words I said, and a different set of words. That's why I asked. And I just don't know anything anymore! Just when I think I've got everything figured out there's something else thrown at me and I JUST DON'T KNOW ANYMORE!" "What words, Miru?" Luna asked gently. "Words." "Say them." "I couldn't. They're transformation words. I don't even know if they work." "Try them, then." Serenity was curious now. "Alright." I held up the transformation wand. "FOREVER CENTURY MAKE *UP*!" ~**~ At first, nothing happened. Not a thing. Just the slightest of glimmers. And a mark appeared on my forehead. Serenity descirbed it later as an infinity sign with an arrow weaving through it. Silence. And then, everything was on fire. Or, at least, I was. I was on fire. I could actually feel it burning me, charring my skin, and I could see Serenity scream. And then the flames began to build up, higher and higher, and there wasn't any pain anymore. Just power. The fire swirled around me, and then imploded, falling back towards me. Forming my fuku. Changing me. Turning me into a being that at that moment was stranger than any before. There was a crack of thunder in the sky as the lights disappeared. It was the same fuku, expect instead of red, my eyes were green. I knew it without looking. I knew that they were a pure green. As pure as the blood that had been there before. And not regular green. Not the emerald color of Mako- chan's; not the cloudy, mixed-with-blue of Haruka's. They were bright, neon, almost-but-not- quite glowing green, the kind you'd find on those plastic blow-up alien dolls. My hair was different, and in place of the normal hair that had been there before, it was fushia. No other color fit, but fushia. Later, I would be told it was just a tad more pink and just a little more purple than the infamous Chibi-Chibi's. It was longer, too, reaching about half-way down my back. I was different. I felt the true power that was mine rushing through my viens, and I knew that nothing could be more wonderful, more 'right' than that feeling. That feeling was what mattered. The feeling of utter calm and peace, the feeling that everything was alright. Four words begged to be spoken. "I am Sailor Century." There was silence. The worst kind of silence that is louder than any noise, the silence that fills your ears and makes you wish something could take it away. "Luna. Explain." Serenity's eyes were locked on me. Only me. And nothing else. "Sailor Century..." Luna was dumbfounded, frightened out of her mind, and I knew it. I felt it. I could sense the fear in the air. "A being of mists and thunder, the Imperial Sailor Century." A new voice said, and I turned to see Sailor Pluto, Hotaru at her side. "The one with the immortal powers of Death and Life, Healing and Destruction. Her coming means the peace of the world, the Neo Sailor Saturn, the Original Sailor Century!" Her words rang through the room. "I'm only supposing you knew about this, Sailor Pluto." Serenity sighed, standing up to greet her friends. "I do. I did. The youma attack was unfortunate, and true, they would have failed if she had not taken action. But now, the initial attack is over." "Serenity, The people will have heard about the attack. They will have heard of the Neo Senshi. Perhaps it is time for us to introduce them to Crystal Tokyo." "If you think it wise, Luna." Serenity nodded. "Sailor Century-- uh-- turn back into Sailor Saturn and go tell the Elder Senshi to come here. You can go now." "Yippee!" I transformed into Saturn, albeit a little annoyed at the lack of strength, and ran and told the Elder Senshi. And then, I had a date to catch. ~*~*~* I went as Miru. The shock of fulling returning to human was a bit severe, but I was used to it by the time I found the cafe again. I bumped into Fuji just as he was going in. "Hey, Fuji-san." I said, as he led me to a booth. We ordered chocolate shakes and then turned to me intently. "Let me guess-- you want to hear about the activity lately." "Yup-- and the atack yesterday." "Geesh. Alrighty. Well, actually, there's nothing to worry about. They received a tip-off from some old friends of theirs, and yesterday they finally got truth of it. But it was perfectly alright, because the senshi took care of it." "I heard there is a new crop of senshi." "Yup. They are called the Neo Sailor Senshi. And that's all I can tell you-- but don't worry. The Senshi and King are returning to Crystal Tokyo and are holding a ceremony to introduce the Neo Senshi." "I don't suppose you could give me any info..." "Nope." I didn't know yet if they were going to tell the people that there was indeed a new Sailor Saturn. The thought of two Sailor Saturns was spooky. "Is there a new senshi for every old senshi?" "Yup." "Is there a Neo-Sailor Pluto?" "Pluto? Not that myth again. Nope. No Neo Sailor Pluto." We were told that pluto had to remain a very top secret. Don't ask me why. "What about Neo Sailor Saturn?" "Why do you want to know?" "The people have a right to know if there are two senshi of destruction." "Destruction? Saturn is not about destruction! She can heal and is a very nice person. WHy everyone's afraid of her is beyond me, because she's not allowed to destroy the world. She wouldn't go against a direct order from Serenity!" "Alright Alright.. geesh. What about the Queen's new bodygaurds?" "You'll see everything at the ceremony. I'm supposing she'll introduce them. Endymion won't be very happy, but hey! He'll agree or, in the words of her highness, 'He'll be sleeping on the couch'." "You seem to know the Queen very well." "Nope. I hear things." "Ah. About how old are these Neo Senshi." "My age. Sixteen, Fifteen, Seventeen." "Do you know any of them?" "That's not a fair question, Mr. Burnett. If I said I did, you'd hound me for info. If I said I didn't, then you'd still hound me for info. I resign from answering." "You're pretty smart for a teenager." "And flattery will get you no-where." "Miru! Miru!" Yumi burst in, her face panicked. And Yumi doesn't naturally panic. So of course, I did the natural. I panicked. "Yumi, what's wrong?" I asked. She pulled me close to whisper in my ear. "Small Lady has fallen into a coma." If I was panicked before, it was nothing from what I felt right now. Adreniline was going through my system at twenty thousand miles an hour. "Yumi, let's get out of here. See you later, Fuji. Family crisis." We ran out of the cafe, into the alleyway, henshined, and ran back out, not caring who saw us. And believe me, two unknown senshi running through the foot-traffic like the hounds of hell are at our heels attracts a lot of attention. "How long has she been in a coma?" "A few hours. You left your communicator at the palace. I had Tenshi figure out where you were, and then I came after you." "Do you know why?" "No one does! Serenity is ready to kill! She's contacted Endymion. Venus and Jupiter are going to pull off a teleport with him." "I'm going to murder the person who did this." "Rei thinks it's someone inside the palace." "Not for long. When I get my hands on them..." "I know. Come on!" We rushed through the palace to Small Lady's room, where Ami and Tenshi were bent over the princess, working like mad. The Queen was pacing back and forth while the pair was told by Neko that there were senshi at every single door and all the windows on groud floor. The only people in the palace were the senshi. "Miru, you're to go to the front entrance with Elder Saturn. She says to power up, whatever that means. Yumi, Mars is at the back entrances. You're to go there. See you." She ushered us out, and only then did I notice that Elder Neptune was kneeling over the princess behind Ami. They've got each pair looking over something. "See you later, Mars." I shouted over my shoulder to Yumi as I headed for the front doors. I'd almost gotten there when I remembered Neko's words. I ducked into an empty room and henshined into Sailor Century, and took the opposite side of the doorway from Saturn. "This is bad, isn't it, Hotaru?" I asked. "It is. Endymion and the others arrived a few seconds ago. We have to find out was has caused the Princess to do this. We may need her help." She answered, her eyes gazing intently over the walkway before us. "When I get my hands on whoever did this, they will not be having a nice day." I growled, tensing as a woman passed in front of the gates. "There will be a lot of questions. Haruka sent everyone but us away from the palace. All the servants and advisors. Everyone. That in itself will be enough." "Will the ceremonies be tomorrow?" "Yes. But the Queen will not be present. If there's an attack on the crown then they must be protected above all costs." "I will not be presented?" "Yes. But only as Neo Sailor Saturn." I didn't know what to say to that. Was it good or bad they were keeping my true form as Sailor Century a secret? Probably. Because then we would have a surprise factor if we needed it. "What are our orders?" I asked. She sent me a quick grin before answering. "We're supposed to stop anyone from entering the palace and if they refuse to stop, in the words of Haruka, 'Take 'em out." We found this outragously funny. We were fit to be tied by the time we were able to take control of ourselves, Saturn noticed a man entering the large, golden harp-like gates of the palace. We waited patiently as the man approached. "Halt." I ordered, when he was right in front of us. "Who are you? What business do you have in the palace?" Saturn added. "I'm here to see the Queen." He answered. His face was vaguely familar to Saturn and I both. "I'm sorry. We're both under strict orders not to let anyone into the palace, sir. We must ask you to leave." "I'm afraid it is quite urgent." The man said. There was something off-- not quite human in his eyes. I saw it. "Sir, we are under orders. We have permission to take action. Please leave!" "Who are you, anyway? You're not one of the senshi." He directed his attention to me. "That is not your concern." I answered. Who was he? I purposely moved my glaive into the sunlight to show him I meant business. "Leave now." "Century! Saturn! It's okay. I asked him to come." Serenity said from behind us. We let her through to see him. "Rigel, this is Sailor Century. And of course you know Sailor Saturn." "That's where I know you from!" Saturn said. "You're that magi from the Silver Millenium." "Over my head." I muttered. Silver Millenium? Who knows? "Yes. He has come to look at Chibi-usa." Serenity, and then I noticed she was carried herself like she was in a dream. And Chibi-usa? I was silent as Rigel was led into the palace. Saturn turned back to her post, and said quietly as an explanation, "Chibi-usa is what the princess was called when she traveled into the the past." "Oh." It was silent, all the way to sundown. I was surprised that I didn't feel tired. I supposed it was the adreniline. I was ready for anything. Even Saturn's head began to droop, and finally, the slow methodic breathing told me I was alone. I figured that most of the Elder Senshi were probably asleep, with the Neo Senshi awake for action. I got confirmation of that theory as my communicator went off, turning itself on for a seven-way link. "Miru, is Saturn asleep too?" Otome asked me. "You betcha." I answered. I was glad that they couldn't see me through the watch. "She drifted off a while ago. Are all the other sleep too?" "All the Elders." Hiko answered. "That's bad. I mean, the palace is up to us to gaurd. Us and the Starlights." Iku corrected herself. "We'll do." Yumi said. "Where's Neko?" I asked. "Up in The Room. With Neptune. And you can be sure that neither of them are asleep." Tenshi said. I heard a murmur of agreements. "I can't believe this is happening." "I wish it had been me instead of the princess." Otome said darkly. "Maybe it's natural." I said hopefully. "Doubt it. Too big of a coincidence. We've got an attack, a debut tomorrow, and she goes into an unexplainable coma?" Yumi punched through that theory. "It's awful. I'm a bit relieved, though. Up there, she's got four people standing over her. Nothing can happen to her." Hiko said. "But what if we need Neo Sailor Moon?" Iku asked. "We won't. I'm allowed to fight now, and the Elder Senshi are back, all of them, and we've got the added helped of the Starlights." "Why weren't you allowed to fight before, Miru?" Iku asked. "Pluto had a crazy theory that the enemy was tied to my transformation-- but she was wrong. Not that wrong, but still wrong. So I'm allowed to kick butt." I looked up to see a trio walking down the pathway to the castle. "Guys, I've got company. See you." The communcator went off and I woke Saturn. "What business do you have here?" Saturn asked them. I stepped back into the shadows. "We'd like to speak to Princess Usagi." The woman said. "That's impossible. I must ask you to leave." She answered. They remained, staring her down. I was getting angry. "Who are you?" She asked, after a long, deafening silence. They grinned evilly. At that split second, I knew they were trouble. I was right. They began to metamorph, and then, instead of three more or less normal looking Crystal Tokyo citizens, there were three very ugly youma. "We can take 'em." I whispered, stepping out so they could see me. My golden glaive was already in the air by the time they registered my presence. "Silence Glaive Apply!" Saturn screamed, knocking them back as the words to my attack flashed in my mind. "Death Ribbon Entangle!" I moved forward, my glaive glowing with a dark light, slicing one of the three to dust as Saturn finished of another. We didn't have to destroy the last youma. A fireball blew past us and incinerated it. Saturn turned around to see which Mars was there. "Yumi!" She exclaimed. "You said company, so Rei-chan sent me to make sure everything was okay." She explained. "That was a nasty youma." "No kidding." I said. "Thanks for your help, Yumi-chan." "Hey, it's Sailor Mars, remember?" She waved two fingered style and vanished back inside to wherever her post was-- the back entrances, I think. "Miru, you should power down. I don't think Yumi noticed, but Sailor Century has to be a secret." Saturn said. "Saturn Planet Power Make up!" I shouted, and felt the slightly restricting powers return, and my features return to normal. Thankfully, we had no more trouble that night. ************************** End Part 4 -Black Beyond
