AN: This is a Gargoyles/Sailor Moon crossover for those who didn't know from the title. If you aren't familliar with the Disney cartoon Gargoyles, I don't recommend reading this fic. It just won't make much sense to ya. I have deviated from the formula a bit here. Let's assume the time frame to be just after the end of the R season but before the outers arrive. As for the Gargoyles time frame, it is after Hunter's Moon but before the Goliath Chronicles. Disclaimer: Doesn't everyone love disclaimers? Oh look, I get to do a double! I don't own Sailor Moon or Gargoyles. Dammit dammit dammit. Oh well. Maybe in my next life. Gargoyles/Moon Part 1: Darien's in Danger! (Rated PG) By Ahn Na Blue For once, running didn't bother Serena. She was flying to the temple as fast as her legs would carry her. The other sailor scouts were calmly having tea near the warmth of the sacred fire when she ripped open the door and launched herself bodily inside. At the shock of her entrance, four cups went flying, and chaos ensued. "OW OW! HOT! HOT!" Lita was puffing, most of her tea having landed in her lap. "Dammit Serena, that was my best china!" Raye was fumed, getting right up in Serena's face, not noticing the frantic look in her friend's eyes or the letters she clutched in her trembling hands. "You better be ready to pay for that out of your allowance!" Serena's face crumpled dramatically, and a stream of panicked tears coursed out of her eyes. She began to wail, and the four girls covered their ears. "Okay, okay!" Raye shouted over the noise, "Chill out meatball head! You can pay me back later! Now stop that awful racket!" "SOMETHING'S HAPPENED TO DARIEN!" The hysterical princess was reaching supersonic levels of noise, but now she had her friends' genuine attention. Amy rose gracefully from her kneeling spot on the floor and placed an arm around Serena's shoulders. Gradually, the shaken girl stopped yelping out tears, and sat down heavily in their circle. The mood was tense because the threat was very real. Two months before Darien had been selected to go on a very exclusive student exchange program to Manhattan Island, New York. Serena had of course urged him to go, and so he had packed his bags to spend a semester in the Big Apple. "Now that you're calmed down, tell us what you think has happened," Amy said softly. Serena took a deep breath...and started to wail:"SOMETHING'S HAPP-" Immediately four sets of hands were clamped over her mouth. "Tell us calmly," Amy elaborated, daring to release her grip. Serena twisted her hair nervously, visibly trying to contain herself. "Darien was supposed to come home next week for a holiday," she began hesitantly. "And then today I got this in the mail." She handed over a crumpled and tearstained scrap of paper, marked with what was clearly Darien's concise handwriting. Amy read it aloud. "Dear Serena, I don't know how to tell you this. You need to know that you will always be my Princess, and have a special place in my heart. But I won't be coming home next week. There's no reason to draw this out Serena. I met a woman here in Manhattan. Her name is Dominique, and she is the most vibrant person I have ever met. I am in love with her. I didn't mean for it to happen, but it has. I'm sorry. I hope someday you'll understand and maybe forgive me. Darien." Amy, Lita, Mina, and Raye looked up at their blonde friend in shock. They could see she was on the verge of more tears. "QUICK QUICK! Somebody comfort her now before she starts! Hurry!" Lita was insistent. Mina picked up the cue, leaning in close to Serena and placing a comforting hand on her knee. "I'm sure he doens't mean it Serena. There must be some mistake." Raye raised an eyebrow. "I don't know, maybe he just got totally sick with all of her *whining!* I wouldn't blame him." The priestess crossed her arms coolly, trying to rally her friend in her own way. It worked. Serena shot a hot glare in Raye's direction. "Of course its a mistake! My Darien would never leave me! You didn't give me a chance to show you the other letter!" Serena thrust it out and waved it triumphantly in front of the raven haired girl. Amy took it and read it aloud also. "Dearest Serena, You have no idea how much I want to come home. The days can't go by fast enough. Seeing you next month will be medicine for my soul. But I have to thank you again for making me go on this trip. Someday I'm going to take you here and show you the sights. Its invigorating. But part of me feels like there's something going on here. I don't want to worry you, but I also want to let you know that our *friend* Tuxedo Mask will be doing some patrolling for a while. I'll let you know if I find anything. Don't worry about me, my love. Thinking of you will keep me safe. Love, Darien." Amy paused to ponder the letter's implications. "Hmm, that does seem rather suspicious." "Of course it does!" Serena asserted, springing to her feet. "And that's why the Sailor Scouts are going to Manhattan! Pack your bags guys, and get ready to get on the next plane outta here!" "Hey!" exclaimed Raye, rising to meet her. "You just can't expect us to drop everything on a moment's notice!" "We're the Sailor Scouts Raye, dropping things on a moment's notice is what we always do." She spoke with surprising authority. "And I'm the leader, I say Darien's in trouble, and we have to go, NOW!" Raye turned away huffily, but a small smile curled on her lips. She enjoyed seeing Serena assert herself as leader. "Wait a minute! Where are we supposed to come up with the money for a plane ticket?" Lita interjected, and Serena's face fell. "And we have to clear this with Luna and Artemis," Mina pointed out. By now Serena was starting to pout. "Don't sweat it, Meatball Head!" Lita said cheerily. "We'll get the money somehow. I know! We'll have a bake sale and I can make a bundle of my homemade muffins!" "And I can make a special appearance as Sailor V to sign autographs for cash," Mina added. "Don't forget the Temple can run a sale on charms," Raye chimed in. Amy pushed her way into the center of the bustling girls. "OR," she emphasized, "We could just save our pocket money to spend in New York and travel by Sailor Teleport." Her friends' faces lit up like Christmas trees. "AMY YOU'RE A GENIUS!" They all shrieked. Amy just smiled. "And Luna can come with us while Artemis stays here to keep an eye on things while we're gone." It was decided to go with Amy's plan, and within the hour all were assembled back at the temple, with Luna in tow. "VENUS STAR POWER!" "MERCURY STAR POWER!" "JUPITER STAR POWER!" "MARS STAR POWER!" Four Sailor Scouts stood outside the temple doors, powered up and ready to go. "Oh thank you guys. You're the best friends anyone could ask for," Serena's lip trembled. "Hey Meatball head, Darien could be in serious trouble. Shut up and transform already!" Mars was impatient. "MOON CRYSTAL POWER!" Sailor Moon joined the group and all five joined hands. "Focus on your destination, Scouts," Luna cautioned. They closed their eyes. "SAILOR TELEPORT!" And in a flash of colors, they were gone. ********************************************************************* Meanwhile, it was only hours after nightfall in New York City. A tall, muscular, blue-gray Gargoyle glided over the rooftops, a slim dark haired woman in his arms. "It's a nice night for patrolling," Elisa Maza said absently, her arms draped about the big Gargoyle's neck. She stole a glance at his profile. What most humans would tend to call ugly, even monstrous, she had slowly grown to love. She ran a hand through his long black hair. He allowed himself a smile, then turned his attention back to the city below. His eye tuned in to a dark alley. Something moved in the shadows. "Elisa, do you see something in that alley?" She pried her gaze from him and peered into the night. Probably nothing but a cat, she thought, but Goliath is so thorough when it comes to protecting. "Let's check it out," she heard herself say. "Should we radio the others for backup?" Goliath asked as he swooped lower to navigate into the alleyway. Elisa smirked. "I think we can handle this one on our own." They landed solidly and Goliath set her gently on her feet. An enormous, fat tomcat skittered out from behind the dumpster. She raised an eyebrow at Goliath. "I guess it was nothing," he muttered sheepishly, and turned to sink his talons into the side of the building so he could climb up. "You sure you don't want to hold that tomcat for questioning? Maybe he has a lead into that illegal arms ring I've been tracking." Elisa's hands were folded across her chest, a smile playing on her lips. Goliath turned and placed a wing around her, sharing the jovial mood. Being a New York City homicide detective, Elisa wasn't always so lighthearted. "That feline did look to be a hardened criminal," Goliath joked, leaning in for a kiss. ******************************************************************** Just a block away, the five Sailor Scouts finished their teleport. Right in the middle of a Manhattan street. "EEEK! LOOK OUT!" Venus shrieked, and all five girls dove out of the path of a speeding taxi. The driver screeched his tires and swerved to miss. "Hey, watch where you're standing ya lousy streetwalkers!" He yelled, waving a fist out the window. Jupiter's eyes narrowed, and she raised a fist in return. "Street Walkers!" she growled, and then realized she was in her sailor uniform. "Oh, maybe we better power down." Mars put a hand on her arm. "Hold on guys. I'm picking up some seriously weird vibes here." Sailor Mars' eyes went blank as she focused on her power, walking slowly towards a shadowy alley. What she saw when she reached the entrance made her and the other sailors gasp in fright. A large, gray blue monster with webbed wings and long black hair was obviously feeding off an innocent woman near the dumpster. Sailor Moon recovered quickly. "Stop right there Negasleaze!" she shouted. "You let that poor woman go this instant!" She pointed at Goliath menacingly while the Sailor Scouts struck poses behind her. Goliath had released Elisa from their embrace when he heard the young girl's cry. Now the two lovers stood staring wide eyed at something they could hardly believe. "Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" Goliath asked tensely, his deep voice even lower than usual. "If you're seeing five girls in sailor outfits with legs up to their chins, then yeah." Elisa reached her hand into her coat pocket to retrieve her gun and flash her badge. "Who are you?" She called out. "I am Sailor Moon, champion of justice, and in the name of the moon, I'll trash Negascum like you!" Behind her, more voices joined the chant. "We are the Sailor Scouts! We fight for love and against evil!" The sailors shouted out their names and struck poses. In the midst of all the declaration, three more Gargoyles had swooped onto the nearby rooftop and were looking down skeptically. "Uh, need any help Goliath?" asked the rather overweight light green one. "Who the heck are they?" asked the smaller dark green one. "Didn't you hear them?" snorted the brick red, lean gargoyle with white hair. "That's Sailor Moon, and those are the Sailor Scouts." He called down to the girls. "That's very nice," he shouted sarcastically."Frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years, here in Manhattan, the spell is broken, and we live again! We are the defenders of the night, WE ARE GARGOYLES!" Down in the alley, Goliath and Elisa smiled at the trio's antics. "Very nice speech Brooklyn," Elisa whispered. The Scouts had noticed the three new "monsters" and were in battle position. "Don't worry Miss, we'll save you," Mars stated. "Thanks, but I don't need saving," Elisa answered, hands on hips. "They must have brainwashed her," Mina offered. "That's it," Mars growled. "Mars Celestial Fire, SURROUND!" A swarm of flaming rings went shooting down the alley straight towards Goliath. "FREEZE!" Elisa yelled too late, and had just enough time to fire one shot before the gun was burned from her hands. Mars was gripping her upper arm tightly, but blood still dribbled though her fingers. "You shot me! You shot me in the arm!" "OOH, you're gonna get it now," Jupiter declared, as thunder began collecting in her palm. "Wait, wait, wait!" Amy cried, running in the middle of the action. All this time she had been typing furiously into her handheld computer. "According to my readings, these guys are definitely not from the negaverse. That doesn't mean they're not evil, but we shouldn't rush in to battling them until we know more about them. They could be really dangerous!" Meanwhile, at the other end of the alley, Goliath and Elisa were in awe. "Did you see that?! Fire shot right out of her hands!" "Sorcery," Goliath snarled, and then shouted to the trio on the roof. "You three, take them back to the castle. We can treat their wounds and find out more there. That blast was sure to attract the police. LET'S GO!" At his command, the three younger Gargoyles swooped down and grabbed the girls. Brooklyn, the red sarcastic one, snared Mercury and Jupiter, while Broadway, the overweight light green caught Mars and Venus. Lexington, the little green one, tucked Sailor Moon under one webbed wing, and the entire pack glided off into the night. TO BE CONTINUED... This part was a little bit light hearted, but I wanted to start out that way. Hopefully it will get more serious as I progress, and I know it will get more romantic. Darien should appear in the next episode. Email me at ahnnablue@hotmail.com and tell me what you think so far. Remember, flames must be entertaining to be appreciated.
