AN: Here goes part 2. I'm writing it before I even know if you people like part 1. I hope you liked it though, because I absolutely love both of these series, and am trying hard to preserve the integrity of both, which can get complicated because Gargoyles is so serious and SM is so happy usually. I think there was only one Gargoyles episode with overt slapstick humor. And it wasn't exactly a great episode. Disclaimer: Good lord, I seriously hope I don't have to do a fresh one of these for each part. If I owned these wondrous creations, I wouldn't be writing about them, I'd be orchestrating their comebacks. Gargoyles/Moon Part 2: Scouts in Manhattan As Luna watched the five girls be carried away by three hideous monsters, her eyes bugged out, and she slowly emerged from her place of cover by the trashcans. The Sailor Scouts were just dots on the horizon now, and it looked like a scene from the Wizard of Oz. She looked down the alley and saw the last monster and his brainwashed human climbing up the brick wall. She dashed towards them and with a mighty leap, landed on the monster's arm and began to scratch away. "OUCH!" Goliath roared, and went to fling the cat away. "Don't hurt it Goliath," Elisa scolded, and pried the enraged feline from his shoulder. "Easy kitty kitty," she soothed, then noticed the cresent moon on Luna's forehead. "Uh, Goliath, I think this cat belongs to those uh, Moon people. Don't worry kitty cat, we'll take you to your owners." Thank God, thought Luna, I thought I had lost them for sure. And then she dug her claws into Elisa's coat as Goliath climbed higher and swooped off the wall and into the air. Cats aren't meant to fly, she thought desperately, and squeezed her cinnamon eyes shut tightly. When they finally arrived at the castle in the sky, Luna was ready to hack a furball. Upon landing she immediately squirmed from Elisa's arms and ran towards the shaken Sailors. "I guess that cat does belong to you," Elisa smiled as Luna jumped onto Sailor Moon's shoulder. Sailor Moon herself was shaking from head to toe, quickly backing into a wall with her Sailor Scouts beside her. "What are you going to do with us?" Sailor Jupiter demanded, fists ready for combat. "With YOU?!" Brooklyn's eyes widened incredulously. "You're the one who almost knocked me out of the sky, throwing right hooks all the way here!" "You're the lucky one," Lexington said to him," I think I'm deaf from that one's wailing." He pointed to Sailor Moon. "Do you think she's a banshee?" "Enough," Goliath declared. "We're not going to do anything to you. Now tell us, why did you attack? Who are you working for?" "We're not working for anyone," Sailor Moon spoke up."We're just here to find our friend, and then we'll leave." She stuck her chin out indignantly. "Sailor Moon," Mars scolded, "We fight against evil where ever it is. We're not leaving until you guys are Negadust!" She tried to point to the Gargoyles, but her injured arm throbbed in protest. "You don't have to fight us. We're both on the same side." Goliath held up his palms. "We protect this city from those who wish it harm, and if you mean what you say, then we have no quarrel with you." All the commotion had attracted the attention of Bronx, the clan's blue Gargoyle dog, and Hudson, the oldest soldier. Bronx approached the Scouts curiously. "Uh, nice doggie," Sailor Venus said, sweatdropping and moving closer to Mars. "What's all this?" Hudson asked in a thick Scottish brogue. "I was watching the television and then I heard this awful wailing. Is it a banshee?" Lexington smirked. "No, it was her," he said, pointing to Sailor Moon. Hudson looked at the five, puzzled. "Hello Lasses, maybe we should get you inside to have that arm tended to. I think there's a first aid kit in the kitchen." "She should really go to the hospital," Elisa interjected. Sailor Mars shook her head, and exchanged glances with her friends. It was understood that they would play along until they knew more about their adversaries. "I heal fast. I'm a Sailor Scout." Everyone filed into the kitchen, and Hudson began to search the cupboards for the kit. Sailor Jupiter gasped at the sight. The kitchen was quite impressive. There was even a walk in freezer. "Wow," she breathed. "Just imagine what I could cook in this place." Behind her, Broadway smiled. He was imagining it too. As Mars got her arm bandaged, Lexington noticed Amy's palm computer. "Hey, that's cool," he said, jumping up on the countertop to look over her shoulder. "Er, yeah," she said sheepishly, uncomfortable at having him so close. "But what I want to know is, who are you? What are you? My computer can't get any data readings from you, and it has no information regarding you." "That's not surprising, since hardly anyone knows we exist," Brooklyn quipped. Sailors Jupiter and Venus had taken seats on the massive chopping block and crossed their arms over their chests, waiting to hear the Gargoyles story. Brooklyn looked at Goliath questioningly. "Short version," Goliath said simply. Brooklyn took a deep breath. "We're Gargoyles. A thousand years ago, the humans we trusted froze us in stone. Then, a year ago, Xanatos heard of the legend, and broke the spell by raising our castle above the clouds. Since we awakened, we've been protecting this island. My name is Brooklyn." At his instigation, everyone introduced themselves. "Now what's your story?" he asked, looking straight at Jupiter. After getting nods from the others, Jupiter said,"A long time ago, we were princesses on the moon in a time called the Silver Millenium. Our world was destroyed by the Negaverse and now we protect the present and the future as the Sailor Scouts. Who's Xanatos?" "I'M Xanatos," said a voice from behind them, and everyone turned. A man in a dark suit stood in the doorway. "Goliath, what's going on here? Why are there five young women in my kitchen?" "Xanatos, these are the Sailor Scouts. Some kind of sorceresses from Japan." "Oh, this all sounds fascinating. I wish I could stay and hash it out with you, but Fox and I have dinner plans. Owen is babysitting Alex." He turned to go. "And if the young ladies stay the night, remember I renovated the east wing of the castle into guest space. They're welcome to it. And Goliath?" "Yes?" "Keep that dog away from the priceless tapestries?" Then he ducked out the doorway. Goliath turned his attention back to the Scouts. "If you are who you say, then you are welcome here." "EEEW! I don't want to stay in some creepy castle!" Sailor Moon wailed. "Sailor Moon, we don't exactly have anywhere else to go," Mercury sighed. "And besides, I believe what they're saying. They haven't done anything to hurt us, and I think meeting up with them was pure coincidence. Maybe a good one," she added, half smiling at Lexington. "They might be able to help with our problem." Jupiter hopped down from the cutting board. "I agree with Mercury. I say we stay. But there's one more thing you should know," she looked at the Gargoyles. "We don't always run around like this." And she powered down into her dark green turtleneck and khakis. "My real name is Lita Kino." Mars, who had finished having her arm bandaged, ran over to her, shocked. But when she looked into Lita's eyes, then back at the Gargoyles, she too powered down into jeans and a red blouse. "I'm Raye Hino," she said. "And if we're going to work with you, we have to trust you." The other girls' brows were knit with worry, but one by one they powered down. Amy smoothed her powder blue dress and extended a hand to Lexington. "I'm Amy Mizuno." Venus tugged on her orange cardigan nervously. "I'm Mina Aino." "You guys, do you really think we should tell them who we really are?" Sailor Moon asked, knees still shaking. "JUST DO IT SAILOR MOON!" They all shouted at her, and she powered down into a blue skirt and pink sweater. "I-I'm Serena Tsukino." Goliath smiled gently. The girls were definitely starting to charm him. He wondered when his daughter Angela would get back from patrolling. She would welcome a little bit of feminine company. "Let's show you to the east wing." "NO!" Serena shrieked. "Guys, we have to find Darien!" "She's right Sailor Scouts, that is why you came," Luna said from Serena's shoulder. "Oh my God, that cat can talk!" Elisa jumped back. Luna cocked her head. "You accepted the fact that these girls can transform into superheroines and throw fire from their hands with not a peep, but you're surprised that I can talk." Luna sweatdropped. "Hey, take it easy Luna, I'm sure they don't get that many talking cats around here." Mina smiled at Elisa. "Don't mind her, she hates to travel." "So, ah, what's the problem you guys are trying to solve?" Broadway asked between bites from a large submarine sandwich. Raye placed a hand on her hip. "Its our friend Darien. He came to Manhattan to study abroad and now we think something's happened to him." "That could very well be," Elisa stated. "People get mugged and murdered in this city every day." At this, Serena's eyes started to dribble over. Raye was hasty to comfort her. "Er, uh no, we're sure he's not dead. Serena's his soul mate, if he were gone, she'd know probably. And besides, he wouldn't be taken easily, he's also a warrior, like us. So, have you guys noticed anything unusual lately?" "Not exactly, but we get our fair share of unusual around here. If something's going on, we usually hear about it," Goliath said, rubbing his chin. "Broadway, Brooklyn, why don't you take two of the girls out patrolling with you? Maybe you'll come up with something. And while you're out, you can find Angela and fill her in. Lexington, maybe you could hack into something." Amy perked up. "Oh that would be great, I would love to see the technology in this place. We could access the university files and see if Darien's disappeared or if any strange behavior was reported." "Great," Lexington smiled. "The control room is in the main part of the skyscraper." And with that, the two left the kitchen to research. The others headed back out onto the rooftop. "Uh, how do you guys patrol?" Serena asked slowly. "We fly over the city," Brooklyn answered. "I think I'll stay here with Raye, get settled in," she stammered. "That leaves you and me Mina," Lita said, walking towards Brooklyn. "Guess so," Mina sweatdropped and allowed Broadway to lift her in his arms. Brooklyn scooped up Lita and the four dove off the castle. Behind them, they heard Luna meowing to be careful. Goliath was preparing to patrol as well. He knew that the girl's friend might already be dead, and he couldn't let the city go unprotected while they all went on a wild goose chase. As far as he knew, it was just a lover's quarrel. He looked back at Elisa, and she winked. He could trust her to keep an eye on the other girls while he was away, so he glided off. Once in the east wing, Raye and Serena stood gaping. It was beautiful, like something out of a Disney fairytale. Four guestrooms, each with four- poster beds, velvet drapery, and intricately woven rugs. "Wow, this is lovely," Raye said, tracing her finger along the woodwork of an oak dresser. "Yeah," Elisa agreed. "Xanatos and Fox sure know how to live in style. Sorry there are only four rooms, guess two of you will have to be bunkmates." "Hey, got anything to eat around here?" Serena wondered, bouncing on the bed. "Sure Lass," Hudson said from the doorway. "I'll be happy to bring you something from the kitchen." "Better bring the WHOLE kitchen," Raye muttered, making Elisa smile. "You guys better fill me in on your problem," Elisa said, taking a seat at the writing desk. "Well," Serena began," It all started when I got this letter from Darien. He said he's fallen in love with someone else and isn't coming home, which we all know can't be true because he and I were *meant* to be together, I mean, we already have a daughter in the future-" Elisa started to tone her out, thinking it was just a lover's spat and they were wasting their time. "-and I mean, the letter totally didn't sound like him, and it said the woman's name was Dominique! Yeah, like I'm supposed to buy that! Who has a name like Dominique?! Something has obviously happ-" "Whoa whoa, hold on," Elisa said, rising. "Did you say Dominique?" "Uh huh." "Was there a last name? Any description?" "No. Why?" Elisa groaned. "Because Hunnie, I think your friend Darien may be in more trouble than any of us realized." *************************************************************************** Mina, Lita, Brooklyn, and Broadway soared over the city. The wind whipped Lita's ponytail back, and she smiled. It was totally invigorating. "Hey Lita," Mina called. "This is actually wicked cool!" "I know! Serena and Raye are missing out!" She wrapped her arms tighter around Brooklyn's neck. "Can you go any faster?" "Sure," Brooklyn laughed, and prepared to tuck his wings in for a dive. "Hey hold on," Broadway growled, his eyes starting to glow bright white. "Isn't that a gang of Tony Dracon's men?" Broadway didn't wait for an answer, just swooped down on to a nearby rooftop to survey the scene. "Who's Tony Dracon?" Lita asked. "Local Mob boss. Broadway has kind of a thing for him." As Brooklyn and Lita joined them on the roof, Broadway was ready to make a move. There were six men around a loading dock, and an unmarked gray van. They were conversing intensely. "They'd better not be trafficking guns. I hate guns!" Broadway snarled. Behind them, Mina and Lita took out their transformation sticks. Better safe than sorry, they thought, and whispered their transformation calls. Brooklyn and Broadway turned just in time to see electric flashes and golden hearts reveal Sailors Jupiter and Venus. The girls hurried to the edge of the roof to look down on the action. "Wow, that was amazing," Brooklyn said to Jupiter quietly. She winked at him, then looked below. Two of the men were preparing to open to back of the van. "There better not be guns in there," Broadway warned. "I hate guns!" The men revealed massive bags of white powder, to the approval of their customer. "Nope," Brooklyn said. "Looks like drugs." "Drugs! I hate drugs!" Broadway cried, swooping from the rooftop. "As much as you hate guns?" Brooklyn quipped, preparing to follow him. "Hey wait! Take us with you!" Jupiter insisted. "I think it's too dangerous down there," Brooklyn said sheepishly, and dove off the edge. "We'll show them what dangerous is," Jupiter said, rising to her feet. "We've jumped off higher rooftops than this in Scout form, eh Venus?" Venus nodded, and the girls jumped, landing on the sidelines of the fight. Broadway was roaring and crushing the van while Brooklyn dodged bullets and sent an attacker flying with a punch to the face, at the same time felling another with a tail whip. Jupiter was awed, but when she saw one of the men taking careful aim at Brooklyn, she took action. "Jupiter Thunderclap Zap!" she yelled, and slammed her fingers into the ground. The electricity split the pavement under the man's feet and sent him sprawling onto the ground, twitching from the voltage. Venus added her "Love Chain Encircle," and he was down for the count. Just then, one of the thugs grabbed Jupiter from behind, but with a deft movement, she swung him over her shoulder and planted a foot on his neck. The scum that were still conscious were running away down the street. Jupiter let the man up. "Get outta here!" she called. "And don't do drugs!" Brooklyn was tossing the unconscious ones into the back of the van, and Broadway slammed the dented door shut. The police would find a nicely wrapped package. The Gargoyles walked over to the Scouts, and Brooklyn knelt to examine the torn pavement. "That's the last time I leave you behind," he said to Jupiter. "You're incredible." She just smiled and shrugged. Beside her, Venus's eyes moved from Jupiter to Brooklyn, and back again. Hmm, she thought. *********************************************************************** A cold cloth to the forehead brought Darien back to the world of the living. He opened his eyes a crack and was affronted by blurry swimming vision. It felt like years since he had been awake, and as he twisted his neck to survey his surroundings, bright spikes of pain lit up in his temples. He forced himself to ignore it and propped himself up on the plain gray couch. "Don't strain yourself," said a deep but feminine voice from behind him. Darien swung his gaze left and saw a beautiful woman sitting beside him. A woman with emerald green eyes and wild red hair. She rolled up the sleeves on her simple white blouse as she submerged the cloth into cold water and wrung it out. "Dominique," Darien muttered. "Where am I?" He looked around at the sterile surroundings, the decor was modern and metallic, and he recognized it immediately. "Yes Darien, you're at Nightstone Incorporated. In one of the hidden rooms. Don't you remember anything?" Dominique's brow was knit with concern, and she dabbed the cloth over Darien's bruises. Darien touched his fingertips gingerly to his broken lips, but everything in his mind was fuzzy. "I remember...being attacked, by something. Something hideous, a blue monster with wings. It jumped me as I was leaving Nightstone." He paused, and didn't notice the shadow that passed over Dominique's eyes. "Last night? Or two? Dominique, how long was I out for?" "You've been unconscious for four days and nights." "Oh God," Darien moaned, and heaved himself up off of the couch, wincing at the pain of bruised and possibly broken ribs. "I'm supposed to catch my plane home to Serena tomorrow." He started towards the door, but Dominique called out. "Darien! She won't let you leave. She- the thing that attacked you, has taken over Nightstone. She's holding us both captive!" Her eyes were desperate. "She says if you try to escape, she'll kill me." Darien walked back to the sofa. "Don't worry. I promise I won't let her hurt you. But we have to find a way out of here." He took her hands in his. Dominique smiled. "I'll figure something out. But I have to go now. She told me as soon as you woken up to get you some food. You need it even if you're not hungry." "Be careful Dominique. Don't antagonize her. We'll get out of this, I swear it." She caressed his cheek gently, and her next words seemed to choke her. "I- I trust you Darien." As the door zipped shut, Darien started to pace, despite the pain. One side of the room consisted of one way windows, and he went to them, pressing on them tentatively, without much hope. He knew that Dominique built her company like a fortress. Everything unbreakable. Every aspect must have strength, she had told him in one of their meetings, if you are to overcome your enemy. Darien bowed his head. Dominique. She had wowed him. Such an able businesswoman, beautiful, yet not forced to trade on her looks. Ambitious, driven and intelligent didn't begin to describe her. He sighed. He would get them both out of this safely, he vowed. He closed his eyes, and let his heart scream. SERENA! I'm sorry my love, but I need your help! Please Serena, find me! I can't escape on my own! In another room, a set of clever eyes followed his movements on a security monitor. Those eyes studied his every step, watching his pacing, and smiling as he gingerly tried the windows. Lips curled in a smile. "You wondrous man. I have such plans for you." ********************************************************************* Halfway across the city, Serena's heart jumped and her eyes popped open from a dead sleep. "DARIEN!"
