AN: Hi everyone. Thanks for sticking with me to the end. And thanks to all of you who have emailed, it helps a lot. When I started this story I didn't know how long it was going to get, but this will be the last part if it kills me. It may end up being one mammoth of a chapter, but I'm going to finish this now. I hope I've done justice to both of these series. Disclaimer: Gargoyles and Sailor Moon are mine! All mine!! I created and own everything!! MUAHAHAHA!! (I really hope you're catching the sarcasm.) Gargoyles/Moon the Final Part: The Power of Love By Ahn Na Blue Rated PG On the rooftop of Nightstone Incorporated, five women stood dazed, and one heartbroken girl knelt on the ground, her head in her hands. The wind seemed to match the turmoil of their emotions, whipping their hair around them dramatically. Elisa went to kneel next to Serena, who had fallen in shock after seeing her love transformed into a Gargoyle. The petite blonde was weeping silently, tears staining her gloved hand. The detective laid a comforting hand on the girl's shoulder. "Don't worry. The Gargoyles will catch Demona. They've handled her many times before." The Sailor Scouts had gathered around, and at Elisa's words, a spark of knowledge glittered in Mars' eyes. "No they won't." Five sets of eyes darted questioningly to the priestess's face, and the realization set in. Sailor Moon grabbed Elisa's arm. "Mars is right. The Gargoyles have no idea what a strong new enemy they have in Darien." Her face blanched as she said the word "enemy," and she crumpled into tears again. "What is she talking about?" asked Elisa seriously, scanning the faces of the other girls. "Darien is no normal human," Mercury said. "He's almost like one of us." "You mean he's got supernatural powers too?" Elisa asked incredulously, and the girls nodded. The cop's hand flew to her ear and grasped the microphone she always kept clipped to the inside of her jacket. "Goliath, stop following Demona. Call the others back here." The girls listened closely as they heard Goliath's voice come out of the tiny earpiece. "What? Elisa, why? What are you talking about?" "Darien isn't a regular human. He's got super powers just like the Sailor Scouts. Trust me Goliath, it'll be better if we regroup at the castle. I don't think you have any idea what you're up against." The speaker crackled, but Elisa could hear Goliath calling to his daughter and the trio to give up the chase and return to Nightstone. Sailor Jupiter listened closely, and in the background, she thought she could hear Brooklyn swear. She smiled. Within minutes, the Gargoyles were swooping onto the rooftop to gather up the Scouts. Brooklyn, still angry at having to let Demona go, came at the roof at near full speed and scooped Jupiter up without a word. Once safely positioned in his arms, she powered down into her normal self. "You okay Brooklyn?" He looked at her through the haze of his frustration, and felt it melt away. He sighed. "I'm really sorry we let this happen to your friend." Lita's green eyes softened into a smile. "It's not your fault. You weren't the only warriors there. Darien is our responsibility. We should have taken care of him." The smile fled from her face as she thought of the battle, replayed it in her mind and wondered when she should've used her attack, when she should have done something just a little bit differently. She tried to memorize her mistakes, angry at herself. "Yeah, well Demona is my responsibility. I should've taken care of her." The red Gargoyle's eyes began to glow, and it snapped Lita out of her reverie. "You and I," she said, playfully hugging him, "are too much alike." He looked at her for a minute shocked, then smirked. "Always running into things fists first." They were laughing when they reached the castle. ********************************************************************** "Tell me about Darien," Goliath ordered sternly, once they had all gathered near the fireplace. The girls all looked to Serena, whose odangoed head still hung low. "I can't do this right now," the girl mumbled, rising off of the couch where she had been sitting next to Mina and heading off towards the guest bedroom. Raye's lips formed a tense line. "Don't be such a meatballhead Serena! You can't just duck out on a meeting! Do you want to get Darien back or not?" Halfway to the door, Serena paused, her sides heaving with frustration. She whirled around, eyes narrowing at her antagonizing friend. "I can't do this right now," she said with slow control. "Well you have to! This is your boyfriend we're talking about here, and besides, you're our supposed leader!" Serena took one deep breath, and squeezed her head between her hands. "Look, I can't do this I am so sick of this I just need to be alone right now Raye, just by myself, do you understand that? I NEED TO BE ALONE!!!!" Raye sweatdropped and wilted at the girl's angry outburst. "Uhm, sure, whatever you say Serena. Try to get some sleep or something." Barely listening, the blonde turned and walked through the door, slamming it shut behind her. Luna leapt quietly from Amy's shoulder and went to scratch tentatively at the doorknob. After a minute or so, the door cracked open and allowed the cat entrance, then shut again. "One more time," Goliath said, a little more gently. "Someone, I don't care who, tell me about Darien." Amy took a breath. "Darien is a college student with an excellent record in academics. He's smart, fun, and lives in his own aparment in Tokyo." "But he is also superhero Tuxedo Mask, friend of the Sailor Scouts who's always there to bail us out when we get in over our heads," Lita added. "Bail US out? Don't you mean 'knock Sailor Moon's clumsy butt out of the way of danger'?" Raye scoffed. "He is also an excellent student of the martial arts, and a capable warrior." Mina raised a finger. "AND, he is one day destined to be the King of the Earth, and rule forever by Neo Queen Serenity's side." The Gargoyles looked puzzled, as did Elisa. "Earth is going to have a king?" Lexington asked skeptically. "Oh, that's way far in the future," Mina said nonchalantly. "You'll all be dead by then." The Gargoyle's mouth's dropped collectively open, and Brooklyn looked sadly at Lita. Hearing of her immortality made him think of all the other barriers between them. "So, what kind of powers does this uh, Tuxedo Mask have?" Elisa wondered. The girls were silent for a moment, as if even they had to think about it for a minute before remembering. Raye's eyes lit up. "He throws magical roses!" "Roses?" Broadway grinned. "Kinda pansy, don't you think?" "Well, he can also jump real high," Mina added. "And he offers good advice in the form of cheesy speeches," Lita said rather sheepishly. "Oh oh!" Amy exclaimed, a mini lightbulb appearing above her blue head. "And he can make his cane grow sometimes!" The Gargoyles were unimpressed, and the girls were sweatdropping like mad. Lucky enough for them, they didn't have to explain any more, because Serena and Luna emerged from the guestroom. "All right Scouts!" Serena shouted forcefully. "I've had time to think it over!" Luna sat by proudly while the girl went on her rant. "I am so SICK of some tramp trying to steal my boyfriend! Every other week there's someone kidnapping him, or brainwashing him, or, or, turning him into a Gargoyle creature! Well I have had it! No more Miss Nice Moon Princess! This Demona chick is going down!" "All right Serena!" Mina said, giving a peace sign and winking, "You go girl!" Raye nodded approvingly. "It's about time you grew a spine." "Can it Raye!" Serena said in a fiercely determined voice. "Let's get down to business! How are we going to get my Muffin back!" As plans and battle strategies got underway, Brooklyn slipped out of the room quietly, but Lita caught the movement in the corner of her eye, and followed him out to the small false courtyard area where they had eaten their picnic. ***************************************************************************** Brooklyn's wings drooped. His mind was swimming with too many thoughts and questions. Whenever he closed his eyes, Lita's smiling face floated into his memory. He could hear her laughter in the wind, imagined her breath on his shoulder in the last moments before dawn. She made him feel alive; she thrilled him. She was the most amazing person he had ever met. Their hearts fit together so well, and she was leaving. His eyes were downcast. He knew this magical presence in his life couldn't stay, and the emptiness of the thought choked him. "Brooklyn?" He heard her soft inquiry and whirled, surprised and embarrassed, part of him wondering if she had known what he was thinking. She walked towards him hesitantly. "Is something wrong?" Lita sat down cautiously on the stone bench, trying to gauge his mood. Looking at her, sitting there so innocently, Brooklyn bolstered his strength. He didn't want to waste any of the time they had on sadness. He would treasure every moment he had with her, and forget that it was fleeting. "No, there's nothing wrong," he lied, smiling a little and moving closer to her. "What's up?" Lita studied him silently. She knew what he was feeling, because she was feeling it too. "I know-" she began, but stopped. I know I have to leave, was what she was going to say, but the moment it left her lips she knew it was a mistake. Her eyes clouded with sadness. I know I can't stay, she thought, I know our destinies can't be changed. My place is in Tokyo, beside my Princess. She felt tears start to gather in her eyes, and impatiently shook her head. She wouldn't waste their time with tears. They would have what they would have, and when Darien was safe again, she would go home, with no regrets. "I mean, I need to know, I was wondering, how you thought we should find Demona. I don't think she'll be hanging around Nightstone Incorporated." Brooklyn saw the traces of tears before she could hide them. She's so brave, he thought. So I can be too. "If I know Demona, finding her won't be a problem. She'll find us." Lita smiled as he sat down next to her, and rested her head against his shoulder as he enfolded her in his wings. "Don't worry. Everything will be okay." He held her close and stroked the chestnut fall of her hair. They stayed there for a long time in the embrace, feeling each other's heartbeat and wishing things were different. ******************************************************************************* Demona laughed gaily as she and Darien swooped into another one of her lairs. She looked at him with hungry adoration. He was beautiful to her, with night black wings and shining eyes. She watched him flex his new muscles with relish. He had flown magnificently, with no fear, and exhibited the ability to dive and recover just as well as she. He was the perfect Gargoyle warrior. And he belonged to her. She smiled, and he walked to her and lifted her in his arms, delighting in his own power. He kissed her and she purred, triumphant. "We'll be so happy here my love," she promised, her mind spinning with plans. She raked her talons over his black T shirt and then whirled away playfully, crossing her arms in thought. She didn't really know how her spell of entrancement worked. She didn't know if all of his memories of the girl Serena had been erased, or if they were just clouded. Or even better, she thought wickedly, if the memories were perfectly intact but now meant nothing to him. But the girl was a risk she couldn't take. The bond between the blonde twit and Darien had been strong, and Demona knew too well how difficult those bonds were to break. Besides, the five young witches had allied with Goliath's clan. They were her enemies for that reason alone if nothing else, and the powers they wielded were strong. They mustn't be allowed to cause her any more trouble. "Would you like to test your strength?" She asked Darien, with mischief in her voice, and was rewarded by his darkly eager smile. "Tomorrow night we're going to launch an attack on Goliath's castle. The sorceresses he has employed are strong, and they must be destroyed." The resolve in Darien's eyes faltered, and he frowned. "I don't think that's necessary. They mean nothing to us now. They can't hurt us." "Those humans know who you are! And Goliath has long been a thorn in my side. Together we can defeat them and all the other Gargoyles! And after they're gone you and I and my daughter can take our rightful place as the rulers of this world." A crazy light had come into her eyes, a sickness acquired over years of hatred and betrayal. "Rulers?" "Yes my love! You are a Gargoyle now, a superior being! The humans who plague this planet will obey us, as they should. Or they will suffer for it." "No. They've never harmed me. I have nothing against them." Demona blanched. It appeared that Darien's good heart was getting in the way. "Humanity is my enemy Darien. I have tried to trust them, tried to serve and protect them, and every time I have been met with cruelty and betrayal. They have tried to kill me for a thousand years." She walked towards him purposefully. "You are my love. Are you saying you won't stand beside me?" Darien watched her. Her own words were causing her pain, and he knew she spoke the truth. The thought of anyone hurting her turned his heart black, and his eyes narrowed. Demona smiled. Killing the Gargoyles and their newfound sorceress brat friends would be the perfect ice breaker for Darien. "We attack now. Before they would expect it." ********************************************************************************** Back at the castle, the Gargoyles and Scouts had run into a brick wall in their planning. They didn't know where Demona was or how to find her. Now that Darien was a Gargoyle, it appeared that Serena's mind link with him was no longer a factor. Angela was also clueless about her mother's whereabouts. Serena was yanking on her pigtails in frustration, and Mina was pacing. Amy was racking her brain for a new angle, and Raye was tapping her fingers impatiently on the coffeetable. When Elisa's beeper went off, everyone was grateful for the momentary distraction. "It's Matt," she said, referring to her partner. "I'd better go call in." She walked quickly out of the room, and the quiet ensued. Within minutes she was back. "Dracon's on the move with some heavy hardware," she announced, and Broadway's ears immediately perked up. "I've got to go." "What?" Serena exclaimed. "You're leaving?" "I'm sorry Serena, but crime doesn't go on hold because your friend has been turned into a Gargoyle. I have to take care of this. I'll be back as soon as I can." Broadway jumped up. "Can I come Elisa? Please?" She nodded, and the big light green fellow ran to the closet, swinging the door open wide to reveal an array of trenchcoats and detective hats, straight out of an Untouchables episode. Donning a set, he wagged his tail, ready to go. "I'll join you as well Lass," said a thick Scottish voice. Everyone turned in shock to see Hudson standing in the doorway. "What?" he said to their astonished faces. "You act like I never go anywhere. You'll all be here to protect the castle tonight, so I can finally get some fresh city air." He walked over to join Elisa and Broadway. "Pick your jaws up off of the floor. Stop looking so surprised." "Um, okay." Elisa said hesitantly, and the trio walked out the door to hit the street and do some crime-stopping. After they had left, things continued to go nowhere. That is, until the entire castle shook from a massive explosion. "What the heck was that?" Lexington shouted, jumping up. "We're under attack! Everyone to the rooftop!" Goliath ordered, and everyone in the room bolted for the stone staircase. The Gargoyles were in the lead, and as they ran, the five girls racing behind them shouted their transformation calls. Three Gargoyles, a Gargoyle dog, and five Sailor Soldiers emerged on the roof to see Demona and Darien circling the castle, each with a laser blaster in hand. "Darien no!" Sailor Moon gasped. The blast that had shaken the walls had come from a small grenade, thrown by Demona not so much to cause damage as to get their attention. "You've caused me trouble for the last time Goliath!" Demona shouted from the sky, taking careful aim at the stones above where the group was standing. She fired, and the castle wall crumbled, and rocks began to rain down. "JUMP!" Sailor Jupiter shouted, and the group launched themselves out of the way. A small cry was heard, and Mercury turned to see Lexington and Bronx mostly buried by the rubble. "Lexington!" she cried, and ran over to him, trying frantically to dig him out, without much success. Angela ran to the foreground. "Mother stop this!" "Stay out of this Angela! I don't want to fight you." "DEMONA!" Goliath's thundering voice caused her to take a pause. "Why are you doing this?" The fire haired Gargoyle cackled. "You always ask such stupid questions Goliath." She reached into her belt, and produced the green transformation stone, which immediately began to glow. She called out a word in Latin, and the stone emitted a bright electrical blast, which caught Sailor Venus head on. The girl fell to the ground in convulsions. "Venus!" Mars ran to her side, trying to shake her back to consciousness. Demona looked approvingly at her little toy. It was multifunctional. "Stop it Demona! Where did you get that thing?" Goliath demanded. "Another stupid question. I've been a sorceress for centuries Goliath. Do you think I don't know how to conjure a simple talisman?" She raised the stone in her hand again, taking aim at Sailor Mars. "This is too easy," she smiled. In two great leaps, Goliath was off the roof and into the air, heading on a collision course with the other warrior. He hit Demona directly, knocking her out of the sky and causing her stone's aim to be off. The blast hit Mars in the left leg, sending her rolling. Darien's eyes went dark as he watched Goliath attack his love. With a roar, he launched himself towards the battling duo, dropping his laser gun. Goliath heard his approach and turned just in time to receive a mighty fist to the jaw, and he fell to the earth. Darien's temper was flaring, and he followed, engaging the big gray Gargoyle in battle as soon as he had regained his feet. The two locked fists in a test of strength, and Goliath was surprised to find himself struggling. "Darien, I don't want to hurt you," Goliath said between clenched teeth. "How dare you attack Demona!" he growled, oblivious to the other's words. He used his tail to lash at Goliath's legs, and then twisted to throw the bigger Gargoyle over his head and into the stone wall with a crash. Sailor Moon was dumbstruck. Everything had happened so quickly. Two of her friends were wounded and out of the battle, and nothing seemed to be going in their favor. She surveyed the scene around her, undecided and beginning to panic. Darien was still fighting Goliath, and the sight of her love so transformed was consuming all her thoughts. Sailor Mercury knelt beside the fallen Lexington, her hand on his bruised shoulder. She looked over her shoulder at Mars and Venus. Mars was holding her leg in pain and Venus was still unconscious and twitching. Her eyes narrowed, and she rose to her feet. She took another look at Lexington as he moaned, and her fists clenched. "SHINE AQUA ILLUSION!!" She growled fiercely, releasing a powerful wave of water and ice swirling straight towards Demona, who hovered in the sky. Demona had been watching Darien fight Goliath with interest. Her love and her ex-love fighting each other with bitter rage. The sight was so appealing to her that she didn't pay any attention to Mercury's attack call. The ice hit her blaster straight on and froze it in her hands. She dropped it with a cry, then turned on her new adversary, her eyes glowing red. Sailor Mercury was angry, and she rallied her remaining allies. "Destroy the stone! It's the link to her power! If we destroy it, Darien might turn back to normal!" "Right Mercury!" Sailor Moon nodded, reaching for her tiara. Demona lifted the stone again, and recited an incantation. A glowing green fog emerged, and quickly floated down to encase Sailor Mercury. Mercury fell to her knees, crying out. "I-I can't move! It hurts!" The fog had formed a bubble around her, and it was pulsing, squeezing her and sending magical shocks to her brain. "Destroy the stone and you destroy your friend, sorceress brat!" Demona grinned triumphantly. "Mercury no!" Sailor Moon yelled, hesitating, her arms fluttering, at a loss about what to do. I can't attack her, she thought, her anger seething. She had wanted so much to have her revenge on this creature who had taken her Darien, but now things seemed to be going all wrong. "Fools!" Demona was laughing. "You're all foo-" But she didn't get a chance to finish her sentence, because Brooklyn came flying at her from behind, knocking her to the ground and sending the green stone talisman flying. Out of Demona's hands, the glow surrounding it ebbed and died, and Mercury was freed of her bubble, gasping. "It's over Demona," Brooklyn growled, but she lashed him with her tail and he rolled to the side. She rose to find herself face to face with Sailor Jupiter, whose fists were raised and ready to fight. "He's right," she stated. "It's over, you fashion freak." The two warriors squared off, eyes narrowed. Demona sprang, but Jupiter sidestepped and landed a reverse punch into her back, sending her down on her knees. As the Gargoyle regained her feet, Jupiter called her thunderbolt and slammed her fingers into the ground cracking the pavement and forcing Demona to lose her footing. Brooklyn was back in the action and caught Demona from behind, trapping her arms behind her. "HOLD HER!" Sailor Moon shouted, spinning her scepter into her hand and whirling it around. "It's time for you to taste some Moon Power you Nega scum!" "Sailor Moon," Mars grumbled from the ground behind her. "She's not from the negaverse you Meatballhead." "Oh, er, uh, whatever Mars! Taste Moon Power you..you.. just plain scum!" The blonde spun about, gathering energy. "Moon Princess Elimination!!" The attack caught Demona directly, and the Gargoyle fell limply out of Brooklyn's grasp. "DARIEN!" she screamed helplessly. Darien was still struggling with Goliath, but at the sound of his love's pained voice, he summoned some of his super powers and sent the big Gargoyle sprawling with a massive punch combination. "Don't worry my love!" he called to her. "I know their weakness." His eyes narrowed as his gaze settled on Sailor Moon. "Take out their leader, and the rest of them are helpless!" "What?" Sailor Moon asked, eyes wide. She backed away fearfully as Darien advanced on her. He leapt, throwing a punch in her direction, but she dodged, and his fist met the stones behind her. "Darien stop!" Sailor Moon pleaded, praying that she wouldn't be forced to fight back. He didn't seem to hear her, but caught her ankle as she attempted to crawl away. He dragged her to him, grinding the delicate bones in her leg. She winced, tears springing to her eyes. She turned to look into his eyes, and saw only hatred as he grabbed her throat and shoved her up against the wall, choking her. Brooklyn's eyes began to glow and he moved to attack, but Jupiter's gloved hand on his arm stopped him. He looked back at her, puzzled. "Let them do this." "But he's going to kill her!" Jupiter shook her head slowly. "Sailor Moon can defend herself perfectly well." Her eyes were glued to the scene playing out before them. "You don't understand what they have." Brooklyn looked back at Darien and Sailor Moon, then looked at the other Sailor Scouts. They were making no move to intervene, just staring at the couple, eyes bright with anticipation. Sailor Moon was losing strength. The hold Darien had on her throat was strong, and her vision was beginning to swim. She looked into his eyes, and lifted her hand to the hand encircling her neck. She didn't try to pry herself out of his grip. She didn't struggle. She just looked at him, held his hands, and a single tear slipped from her darkening eyes. "Darien," she mouthed, but had no breath to form the sound. The hands around her throat faltered, and familliar eyes wavered with uncertainty. Thoughts were invading Darien's mind that he didn't understand. He saw this girl in another time, smiling down at him from an ivory balcony. He heard her laughter as she skipped down the street ahead of him, gossiping with her friends. He shook his head, confused, and his grip loosened. He saw this girl in a white gown, a sad smile on her face, holding out a golden locket. The melody played out in his memory, and a light came into his eyes. Serena's breath was coming in shallow gasps as she caressed his stricken face, her eyes tinged with concern. "Darien," she whispered hoarsely. His eyes met hers. "Meatballhead," he answered. Demona had regained her feet behind them, and was watching the scene with apprehension. "Darien?" she asked loudly. "Darien! Destroy her!" The Gargoyle that was Darien let forth a menacing growl. He turned away from his princess and sprang himself at Demona, knocking her back. "YOU!" he spat at her. "You've transformed me into this! You almost made me kill my Love! You'll pay for it with your life!" Demona's face crumpled. "No! You belong to me! This girl means nothing to you!" She gathered her formidable strength and shoved him away. "You love me!" He looked at her with scorn. "I could never love you." On the ground a few feet away, Demona's green stone talisman began to glow, then shattered, emitting a swirl of green fog that rose into the air, and dissipated. Darien grasped his head and howled as his newly formed wings sunk back into his body, and he fell to his knees. He was human. "Darien!" The collective cry rose from the Scouts, and those who could walk ran towards him, kneeling him and embracing him. "No!" Demona was shaking her head in disbelief. "What's happening!" A light musical laugh arose from behind her, and she spun to see Puck, floating a few yards away, spinning and clapping his hands in delight. "You are your own undoing Demona." "What?" "Remember your incantation: CREATES A CREATURE WHO WILL LOVE ME, is what you said. By your own words, your spell is broken. He doesn't love you, and POOF! No more transformation." Puck went off into gales of laughter. "Oh how I enjoy seeing your plans foiled." And with a blink of light, he disappeared. Demona roared, and then realized she was utterly surrounded. Brooklyn and Jupiter looked at her menacingly from one side, and Serena, Darien, and Goliath watched her from the other. "All right Miss Thang," Sailor Moon stated, "Its time for you to get Moon dusted!" "No Sailor Moon," Darien protested weakly. Sailor Moon and the others looked at him quizzically. "She's been through so much in her life. She's been betrayed so many times. Don't you see? She's evil because she's in pain." He took Sailor Moon by the shoulders. "Heal her. Take away her anger. Please Serena, please try." Sailor Moon sighed, but nodded, and opened up her locket which contained the Silver Crystal. "Moon Healing-" she began. "I don't need your help, you fool!" Demona hissed, and reached into her belt. She threw something to the ground which exploded in a puff of foul smelling smoke. Everyone immediately began coughing, and by the time they regained their senses and the fog cleared, Demona was gone, and all they heard was her parting battle cry. A cry of pain. Angela's shoulders drooped. She had remained neutral in the fight as her mother had told her to. She still couldn't find it in herself to give up on Demona. Goliath reached out a hand to comfort his daughter, but Angela ran into the castle before she could begin to weep. "Well, I tried," Sailor Moon said doubtfully. "Demona will never be healed. She'll never allow herself to be." Goliath said sadly. "But congratgulations. Your friend is back." The Scouts smiled, and hugged Darien. "Its good to be back," he grinned. ************************************************************************************ After a day of rest, Darien was as good as new. Mina and Raye were covered with bandages. Mina was unable to walk, and Raye had a nice shiny new set of crutches. They all wore the fatigue of battle. But the battle was over. It was time to go home. The Gargoyles gathered on the rooftop to see them off. "It has been strange," Goliath commented, "but you are welcome among us anytime." He held his hand out for each girl to shake. He would miss their antics. The castle would be much quieter without them. Elisa hugged each girl. "If you're ever in trouble again, we'll always be here to help." "Same goes for you guys," Serena said happily, one arm around Darien's waist. She wasn't letting him out of her sight. "Speak for yourself Serena," Raye muttered. "I've been beaten up more on this trip than during our entire fight with Beryl. I've been SHOT IN THE ARM," she accentuated, looking directly at Elisa, who blushed, "and now I'm a total gimp!" "Hey, look at me Raye," Mina said. "I'm practically in a full body cast over here!" Everyone smiled. Lexington and Amy were exchanging email addresses. "Maybe we can meet in a chatroom sometime," suggested Lex. "That would be fun," agreed Amy. The others shook their heads. What a couple of computer geeks, was the collective thought. "Hey Lita," Serena called. "It's time to go." Lita and Brooklyn had been off to the side. Brooklyn was reluctant to let go of the girl's hand. The moment they had silently dreaded had arrived, as they knew it would. Neither one wanted to say "I'll come back and visit sometime," or "I'll really miss you". Neither one wanted to say good bye. Lita was the one to pull herself away. Her princess was waiting, and her place was with her princess. As Brooklyn watched her walk away, he felt his heart trying to follow her. It stung him; pain rose in his throat, and the desperation of the moment forced tears into his eyes. He ran after her. "Lita!" She turned, her face soft and sad, and threw herself into his arms, allowing herself to finally cry. He wrapped his wings around her and fought to ingrain everything in his memory. He breathed in the scent of her hair, felt how the curve of her body fit with his. Before they released each other, she kissed him gently. "Goodbye," they said. The girls transformed for the Gargoyles one last time, and linked hands, forming a circle with Darien in the center. They began to glow. "Sailor Teleport!" They shouted, and Lita and Brooklyn's eyes met for the last time. Goliath raised a hand in farewell. "If you're ever in the area," he called out, "Say hello to the Ishimura clan for us!" Serena' eyes opened wide. "WHAT!?! There are Gargoyles in JAPAN?" And then the group disappeared in a flash of light. Goliath went to Brooklyn's side and laid a comforting hand on the young Gargoyle's shoulder. "I've said it once, and now I'll say it again," Brooklyn mused. "When do we get our world tour?" The End. Thank you for reading. Please email at ahnnablue@hotmail.com and tell me what you thought of the ending. Any thoughts? Sequel ideas perhaps? I'd love to hear.
