Realizing Destiny By: Cresent Moon (Cresentmoon16@yahoo.com) rating: PG Usual Disclaimer's Apply Realizing Destiny "Just one more day?" Serena exclaimed walking down the hall of her school. She was getting ready to go on a trip with her Spanish class for the weekend. They were leaving on Thursday, so she would get to miss one day of school and get to sleep on the 12 hour bus trip. She had been waiting for two weeks for the trip and it was almost time to go. Then she started to realize that she would miss someone whom she just got to know. ~Flashback~ "Hey Serena, what's up?" Darien said as she walked into the arcade. "Go away, Darien, I don't want to talk to you today." "Good, because I didn't want you to yell at me today. Can I buy you a drink or something?" "What's with you today? You didn't call me 'Meatball Head' and you're offering to buy me something. What's gotten into you?" "Would you rather I call you 'Meatball Head'?" "No, but why are you acting like this?" "Why do you have to ask so many questions? Let's just act like civilized people for once, ok?" "Alright." The two sat down at a table and talked the afternoon away. "Ya know, a girl could get used to this." "What are you getting at, Serena?" "I am just saying that you could spoil a girl like this." "I try." "Ya know, yesterday I would have never thought that I would be sitting down at a table with you having a civilized conversation for more than a minute." "Much less two hours." Darien finished. "What?!" she screamed. "Two hours? My Mom's gonna kill me. I was supposed to be home an hour ago." She got up and left the arcade, running the whole way at top speed. "Earth to Darien." came Andrew's voice. "What?!" was his reply, as he turned to face Andrew. Darien had watched Serena until she was no longer in sight. "You like her, don't you?" "So what if I do? I know she hates my guts, so why bother?" "Two hours ago, I would have agreed with you. But, now I am not so sure. Why don't you ask her out?" "Because. Why would she want to go out with me?" "Well, let's see, you two have talked non-stop for two hours about nothing and I have never known her to not give someone a chance. In your case, a second chance. "Very funny, but I bet she says 'no'. She'll laugh at me and just go on her way then things will go back to the way they were before." "How much do you want to bet you're wrong?" "I bet $20, but let's just keep this little wager between you and me." "Fair enough. You're on, buddy." Darien got up and left the arcade. ~End Flashback~ 'And to think that a small bet would make Darien show his true feelings' Serena thought. She found out about the bet from a couple of "birds" and she was glad that someone made him do it. Serena had always thought he was cute, but hated the way he acted. She had caught him staring at her a couple of times, but thought nothing of it. Since the day they made that bet, her and Darien had become very close. They were always together and they were going to be separated. '3 hours left, then the bus leaves' she had looked for Darien for the last hour. She checked the arcade, called his house, even went to the college, but he was no where to be found. Time was up. She had to go meet up at the bus. She walked up to the bus very sad and slowly. As she was about to board the bus, she heard someone calling her name. "Serena!!" She turned around and saw Darien running up to the bus. "Darien?! Where have you been? I've been looking all over for you!" "I've been looking for you, too. I had to tell you something." He said with a sad voice. "What? What's wrong?" "I got an offer to go to America and study. I leave Saturday." He turned his head down and looked away. She looked at him and forced a smile on her face. "Really, that's great. That's what you've always wanted." She said as cheerful as she could. Darien saw right through her cover and embraced her in a tight hug. He put his hand on her chin and lifted her head up to look at him. He bent down and kissed her lightly. "I told them no." He smiled slightly then he felt her arms tighten around him. "Why? That's what you've always wanted? Why did you tell them 'no'?" She questioned him angrily. "Because the only reason is that I wanted to get away from this place. I thought there was no one here for me. I was wrong!" "What did your family have to say about you not going?" "I have no family. The only person I might call family is Andrew." He turned his head away from Serena. "I'm sorry. I didn't know." "It's okay. I know you didn't." All of a sudden, a teacher's voice interrupted the moment. "Where is that kid?" "He got sick." "So, what are we going to do? Is there anyone to take his place?" Serena thought for a moment. "Darien, how fast can you pack?" "Um, 10-15 minutes. Why?" "Mrs. Williams, I know someone who can take his place. Just give him 20 minutes to get ready." "Serena, what are you talking about?" Before he could say another word, she was giving him instructions. "I want you to go home and pack for 3 days worth, then be back here in less than 20 minutes, got it?" "I guess." ~20 minutes later~ "Ok. I'm packed now. Where are we going?" "Get on the bus and I'll tell you everything then, ok?" "Alright." They boarded the bus and found two seats next to each other. "Care to explain yourself now?" "Well, I really didn't want to leave this weekend because none of my friends are going to be there and I wanted to be with you, and now I can." "So, where are we going and what are we going to do there?" "We are going to a ranch for a Spanish workshop." "But I don't know Spanish!" "Don't worry. I'll help you. Besides, we have to use it very little if any. So, it'll be no sweat." "If you say so." "We are going to do some dancing, horseback riding, and a few other things, but it will be easy." ~2 hours later~ '11:00pm. I wonder how far away this place is.' Serena had fallen asleep a while ago and her head rested on his shoulder, and he was getting tired as well. He rested his head on hers and drifted off to sleep. At 5:30 the bus came to a stop for gas. Darien and Serena both woke up to the sound of people stampeding off the bus to go buy drinks and to fight for the bathroom. They got up and followed the group into the small building. 15 minutes later they had to meet back on the bus for the last four hours of the trip. "We're still not there yet. How long have we been on this thing? I'm hungry!" Serena whined. "Well, let's see, we left at 9, it's now 5:30, we have about 4 more hours. And as for food, you should have bought some at that store." "I did, but I already ate it." "I should've known," he said as he wrapped his arms around her. "Why don't you go back to sleep and I'll wake you up when we get there." "Alright." She said as she laid her head on his chest and fell back to sleep. "Sleep well, my Serena." He said as he kissed her head and then leaned his head back on the window. He, too, fell asleep. At about 7:45, Darien woke up to the sounds of car horns and screams. The driver had fallen asleep and they were going into the opposing traffic. The driver quickly woke up and jerked the wheel of the bus, only causing it to flip on it's side. The last thing Darien heard were screams and then it went black. He woke up in a white room. He turned his head to look around when his eyes fell upon the person next to him. By some twist of fate, he and Serena were in the same room. He heard two heart monitors, but to his dismay they were beating at the exact same pace. She was unconscious and was on assisted breathing. He then also noticed that he too had an oxygen mask on his face. Then, he began to feel the pain in his body. Slowly he remembered the events of why he was in the hospital. A nurse walked in and noticed that Darien had woken up. She left rather quickly and returned with a doctor. "Hello, young man. Do you know where you are?" He nodded his head 'yes' in response. "Good, now do you know why you're here?" Darien nodded his head again. "That's good. The reason you and this young lady are in the same room is because when you two were pulled from the bus, we had to pry you two apart. So, they decided to put you together. Can you speak?" "I think so." "Well, it looks like you can. Can you tell me your name?" "Darien Chiba." "Mr. Chiba, Can you tell me her name?" "Serena Tuskino." "Good, now we can call both of your families." "I have no family." "I'm sorry. Is there anyone I can call?" "No, Serena is the closest thing to family, and she's right here with me." "Alright." The doctor said as he was beginning to leave the room. Then, suddenly, the two heard a slight moaning noise from the other side of the room. "Where am I? What happened?" "Ms. Tuskino, you are in a hospital. Your bus was in an accident. You suffered a concusion-" He was cut short. "Where's Darien?" She asked in a worried tone. "I'm right here." Came his voice. She got up to go and hug him, but was stopped by a strong pain in her leg. "Ouch, that hurts." "You didn't let me finish. You also have a broken leg. Mr. Chiba only had a concusion. You two were lucky. Many people were seriously injured." He said then left the room. "Hey, Meatball Head, how are you feeling?" "Sore, you?" "I'm doing better now that you're awake." "I told you that you didn't have to know Spanish." "I would have rather gone to the ranch and been embarassed than this, but too late now." "Yeah, at least we're together." "I have to tell you something, Serena." "What is it? You can tell me." "I love you. Not like puppy love, but true undeniable life long love, do you understand?" "Yes, and I feel the same way. I was just scared that you wouldn't feel the same way." "Well, I do. And from now on, we will tell each other everything. No more secrets." "Um, I'm not sure if I can do that. I have a very good secret." "Well, let's see if I can change that by telling you you're mine." He got up and went over to her bed. He put a hand in front of her and formed a rose. "I don't understand. The only person I know that can do that is..." She paused and looked away from his hands and into his eyes. "...Tuxedo Mask?!" She said in a question-like tone. "That's right, Sailer Moon." He said with a grin. "What? How did you know?" "The Odangos kinda gave it away. Plus, when Tuxedo Mask holds her, it's the exact same feeling as when I hold you." "That explains why you're always disappearing." "Do you think that it's a sign or something?" "Maybe, like what?" "Maybe that we are destined to be together, ya think?" "Definitely." "I love you. Both of you!" "And I love you, too. Wait there's one other thing that has to match up." "What's that?" "I am also Princess Serenity and she was supposed to marry Prince Endymion." "Things keep looking up, don't they?" "What are you saying? Are you Prince Endymion?" "Yes, my princess." "That's great! Do you know what that means?" "Yes, I do, but I think we need to keep it down or the rest of the hospital will know who we are." "Oh, sorry." "That's okay, why don't we get some rest, so we can get out of this place and your parents should be here real soon. Sweet dreams." He said as he kissed her forehead and returned to his bed. Within 30 minutes, Serena's family arrived at the hospital. They rushed to her bed and started shouting a million questions at once. Soon after that, her friends came, too. They all walked in and talked with her for a minute until Raye noticed Darien in the other bed. "Hey, Darien, how are you doing?" "Better, just want out of this place." "You and everyone else. So, when DO you get out of here?" "The doctor said that they were going to keep us overnight for observation, then we should be able to go home tomorrow." "That's great." "What time is it?" asked Serena from the other side of the room. "It's 10:30 in the morning. Why?" replied Darien. "Because I'm hungry." "Figures. I'm surprised you can fit in that tiny outfit the way you eat." Raye caught onto the meaning of his statement faster than the rest. "Serena, you told him." "No, I didn't. He found out on his own." "How?" "Ask him." "Mars, calm down." "How did you find out?" questioned Raye. "You aren't the savior and friends of the Sailor Scouts without knowing who you're saving." "You mean to tell me you're Tuxedo Mask?! Funny!" "What, do you need proof?" "That would be nice." "Fine, what do you want me to do?" "How about transform into Tuxedo Mask?" "Alright, lock the door so no one can come in." As soon as that was done, he pulled out his transformation. "So, what do you think now?" "That's a first." "So, that would explain a lot, but how long have you known?" asked Amy. "Let's just say a while." Just as he was about to de-transform, his clothes changed into those of Prince Edymion and Serena's changed into her princess gown. Queen Serenity then appeared. "What's going on?" asked Serena. "Hello my daughter, scouts, and Edymion. I am glad to see that the Sailor Scouts are together once more. Now you can have peaceful lives once again." Said Queen Serenity. "Mother, what's going on?"" asked Serena. "A thousand years ago, you and Edymion were engaged to be married, but we were attacked and the Moon Kingdom was destroyed before you were married. I couldn't let it end like that. I used all my strength and the Silver Crystal to send you to the future to live happy lives. I am glad to see that you have reunited once again." With that said, she vanished and their clothes returned to normal. A few moments had passed and neither Serena or Darien had said anything. "Um, guys, I think they need to be alone for a while." Raye mentioned. We'll see ya later." Darien commented. The girls then left and Darien looked at Serena for a moment before he said, "I guess we really were meant to be together. I love you." "I love you, too. Always and forever, Darien."
