Three loud claps echoed through the immense chamber, rebounding off the walls in an uncanny way. They demanded silence and attention. Slowly I opened my eyes, having snapped them shut when the torches had been magically lit. The room was now bathed in the warm light of the flames, and I could see everything within it; the twin stair cases to either side of me, leading into the unknown and guarded by grotesque stone gargoyles with huge wing spans and each holding a sphere; the earth of green and blue. The stone doors were closed, and stood behind me, a portal back to safety. My eyes found themselves staring in front of me, at the four young men who were soon to be my generals. They stood staring back at me, standing at attention, in their perfect grey uniforms. I stared at them, my black eyes wide, unable to look away. Blood, blood. I forced that thought away from my mind. Behind them was the throne, up on a higher level. Made of dark stone, carved into the shape of a skull, sided by two stone creatures; a roaring lion and a rearing unicorn. Apon it sat Ares, and it was he who had clapped. My dear Father. I smiled bitterly up at him, my eyes glaring, filled with hatred. He returned the smiled, standing up and giving me a slight bow. All four generals followed suit, dropping down to their knees and remaining there, heads bowed. I bowed back, letting my dark hair fall over my black eyes and the earth and moon symbol. Rising, I saw Armand, Lestat and Louis enter. Armand had a serious expression on his face and was as unreadable to me as ever. Lestat had a smile on his, and was trying to hide it but failing. Louis looked as if he would rather be else where. I understood why perfectly. All three were dressed as they usually were; in elegant cloths that seemed to belong to another era. They stood beside my Father, facing me also. One of them looked like a boy, another a god, and the third, a sufferer. Together, they bowed to me, Lestat barely able to keep a straight face, Armand telling me, begging me, with his eyes not to do anything foolish. Louis gazed on me also, his eyes saying be strong, and see this through. Once again, I bowed, returning the immortal's bows. The room so far contained only the nine of us. Myself, the generals, the vampires, and my Father. When I returned to my upright position, a row of soldiers, all dressed in black armour, filed down each stair case until they stood flanking me on either side, facing their God of War. All each held a black flag with the symbol of the earth centred on a long silver pole ending in a sharp arrow head. Silence once again fell when the two lines of soldiers were in place. A rebounding sound came to me, like the hitting of a giant bell. It rang once, twice, three times, and when the third sound faded from the room, all the soldiers knelt down into the same position the generals had taken, their flags still pointing towards the heavens. A man entered. Almost two metres in height, he was a menacing figure. Dressed entirely in black from head to toe, with a trailing black cloak, he walked until he stood beside Ares. His face was covered in a startling white mask, carved from bone into the shape of a skull. In his hand, he held a dagger, sharpened to such a fine point that the blade's exact end was not visible. The hilt was also caved from bone, and was in the shape of a skull, studded with bright red rubies for the two burning eyes. I could not take my eyes off the dagger. Blood, blood. "The Loyalty Ceremony will now commence," Ares commanded, and sat back down on his black skull throne, smiling almost wickedly at me. The black clad man stepped down from the raised level on which Ares's throne was set, the silver blade of his dagger flashing dangerously in the flickering fire light. No fear, Endymion, no fear. Past the four generals the daemon of a man walked, until he stood in front of me, his skull mask staring at my hard expressionless face, yet was unseeing. "Let your blood run free," a deep, powerful voice rumbled from the skull mask. And before I could even digest his words, the bone handle dagger flew upwards, slashing both my cheek. The pain of it was sharp, stinging, the cold metal slicing open my skin and deep into the blood soaked flesh. It hurt, but I forced myself to be still, to not flinch. Into those hollow eye sockets I stared, my black eyes cold and hard. Warmth trickled down my cheeks. Blood flowed from my wounds like twin red rivers flowing into the sea of darkness. A few droplets landed on the stone covered floor, forming tiny red patterns. A crystal goblet appeared in Death's hands, and he held this under my chin, where the blood was collected and continued to flow in a single stream of life giving red. Like red wine it collected in the goblet, but still I did not move. I would not show any weakness. At last it was filled. The blood still came pulsing out of the two cuts, pumped out with my dark heart. Blood was precious. There was no need to loose more than one had to. I waved my right hand in front of my face. Blue light sealed up the wound until not a mark remained. The remaining blood dried and flaked off my skin until it seemed as if I had never bled. Death turned, dagger in one hand, crystal goblet in the other. He faced the four generals, delivering to them the glass filled with my life. Kunzite rose from his kneeling position, and stood facing Death. His face was impassive, seeming to feel nothing. When Death handed him the glass, he took it with both hands, silver eyes flashing down to the red liquid. He lifted it up to his mouth and drank a small amount of it down, never grimacing, never faltering. Once he had swallowed, he handed the goblet back to Death, and held out his own wrist to him, waiting for the pain. "With this fresh blood, bind it's owner to the one who drinks it," Death said with the same deep and menacing voice that seemed to fill everyone's heart with dread. The dagger cut open Kunzite's wrist, and once again, there was the flicker of his eyes, giving away his uncertainty, his discomfort. A few drops fell to the floor as he paused, but he at last lifted his own bleeding wrist to his mouth and sucked on it. He did not swallow however, and seemed to hold it in his mouth, waiting for something. 'Endymion!' Armand's voice rang in my head. 'Take the blood from Kunzite!' My eyes darted to Armand, not believing what he had just communicated to me. 'You are not saying I have to kiss him, are you?' I asked, feeling suddenly light headed. Armand merely glared back at me, demanding with his eyes to do as he commanded. Someone was going to die for this. Setting my jaw, I walked from my place, marked with my own blood, and stood before the white and silver haired general. His silver eyes were blazing, staring back into my black ones. Death stood away from the two of us now, and others looked on. Kunzite lifted both his hands, the wound from his wrist having already ceased it's flow of life's fluid. All the while, I did not break his steady gaze. His hands were placed over my jaws, partly touching my neck. They were cold, and I disliked the feeling it sent down my spine. The general took a step forward, until only a line of light could be seen between us. And then quickly, he pressed his hard, unyielding lips to mine, shocking me. I almost pulled back, but his powerful hands held me there, forcing me stand still. This was nothing like the kisses I had shared with Serena. This was pure torture. There was no passion, just duty. I parted my lips and let the blood flow into my mouth. It was hot, and tasted so metallic, yet it was so sweet at the same time. I forced myself to swallow all of it down, and it was more than just a few droplets at Louis had told me it was. At last, the blood was gone, and I could feel it spreading into my veins, becoming a part of me. How I wanted to cut myself open just to let it pour out of me. I didn't want this man inside of me! His hands fell from my face, and he was standing away from me once more. I stood in front of him, dazed, not knowing what to do next. Blood stained his pale lips, and a single drop fell from them, glistening in the natural light. He gave me a small smile, thin lipped and cold. "With this fresh blood, bind it's owner to the one who drinks it," the voice came again, pulling me out of the trance I had lost myself in. Jadeite had drank my blood whilst I had watched enchanted as that drop of blood had hit the ground. My own blood was there, mingled with Kunzite's. My head turned, watching, but unseeing, as Death posed his dagger at Jadeite's wrist, and then striking it. Time was repeating itself. The wrist was lifted, spilling the bright red blood before it could be taken into the mouth. And then Jadeite's hands were holding me, the way Kunzite had only moments ago. But it all seemed to long ago, so unreal. Jadeite's lips were warm and strong. Strange. You could tell one's personality from their lips; the way they moved it, their experience. So easily he pried mine open with his own, forcing me to take the blood and consume it. And all this he did so passionately, like a lover would. Sweetly he smiled at me when he pulled away, letting his hands slip down my face. And then he grinned, full of mischief, and stepped back, as if all this was nothing more than a game. In shock, I stared at him, my mouth partly open. I could still taste his blood mingled with my own in my mouth. It was so bitter sweet, yet so revolting at the same time. I was drinking blood! Once again, I felt the blood become one with my own body, pulsing out through every cell until it became a part of me, but still held the essence of another. Could I take any more of this? This senseless consumption of human blood for the sake of a superstitious ceremony? Please, just let me be. I never wanted guards. So please, no more. It was happening again. I will not feel any of this! Nephrite's lips were gentle on mine, almost pleading. 'I'm so sorry of doing this, my Prince Endymion,' they seemed to say as the blood passed between us. But I wasn't within my body anymore. I had shut myself up somewhere. I did not want to experience any more of this. Leave me alone. Blood, blood, and blood again. The last was Zoisite, and the sensation that passed through my body as I swallowed the last of the blood was almost painful. Power ripped through me, becoming a part of me as the blood from all four generals released their spirit. I could feel the link between us as keenly as if an invisible sting had been attached to us, binding us together. Without knowing, I had stumbled back a few steps, and then fallen to the stone floor. No one moved to help me though. They seemed to enjoy my suffering. Ripples of power pulsed through me, but it was fading. And then they stopped. I pushed myself to my feet, feeling light headed but powerful. Not only had this ceremony bonded me to my generals, they had linked me to their powers as well. I could feel my new found strength flooding my body, and it made me feel just a bit uncomfortable, holding such power. As I stood, the four generals moved to stand with me, two on either side of me. Death was standing next to Ares now, dagger raised above his head, the silver blade pointing upwards. "Let the life forces witness the binding of these five souls, and only at death will they divide once more," Death said, and threw the dagger at my feet. It landed, it's blade partly buried in the stone. "The mortal souls of these four humans now belong Prince Endymion of the Earth Kingdom, but let it be known that at the time when these mortal souls must depart from this realm, their immortal souls are theirs to keep." Death turned and faded into the doorway from which he had entered. Ares stood, a content smile on his face. "Well done, my son. You've pleased me greatly," he said, the smile still playing on his lips. Following in Death's steps, he exited through the darkened doorway. His soft laughter could be heard once he had disappeared from view. My will snapped. I stormed up to Armand and without thinking, materialised the crystal sabre in my hand, switching it on. "Something I will not like?!" I roared at him, the crystal sabre now gripped tightly in both my hands, aimed at his stomach. "Oh, you are going to die for putting me through that!" I yelled, and thrust the glowing energy blade through his stomach. The sabre burned a hole right through him, and blood gushed out of the wound. I pulled back the weapon, not believing what I had just done. Armand stared back at me, he large brown eyes wide and staring. He did not move, but slowly lowered his head to look at the gapping wound. I thought he would faint then, but right before my eyes, the blood ceased to flow, and the wound closed up, leaving not the slightest scar. All that remained was the hole burnt through his outfit. "Was that necessary, Endymion?" Armand said at last, looking up at me from his stomach. I just stared, not registering what had just occurred. Lestat was laughing so hard that he doubled over and started choking, and Louis was trying to help him. My eyes drifted over to them, not seeing what was so funny. "Never mind," Armand said, glancing over at his companions. "I understand why you did that. I would have too, and I apologise for putting you through that, though your Father ordered it. Some mortals just have a revolution to being intimate with others of their sex, though I see nothing wrong with it. We'll talk later, but I need to have a word with my friend over there," Armand said, giving Lestat a death stare who was still laughing. Armand teleported away with Lestat and Louis, looking much displeased. "Boy, am I glad that's over," a voice said from behind me, letting out a laugh of relief. "I do so hate formalities. So, Endy, when do we get to have some fun killing people?" I turned, annoyed. Shutting down the crystal sabre, I dematerialised it. "Don't call me 'Endy'," I snapped. "And we are not going to go around killing people!" Jadeite grinned at me. "Well, not just anyone of course, your Highness. Just a certain few. You get to choose. Should I suggest a few?" "Shut up!" I shouted. The guards were still standing within the chamber, looking on but silent. "I'm going. I am sick of this place, and I'm tired, and I want to be left alone." "My liege, we can not leave you unattended," Kunzite spoke up, his voice strong. "I've lived unattended for sixteen years, Kunzite. Surely you can leave me alone when I sleep!" I replied, turning on him. "Or are you going to share my bed too?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. "I did not mean that, my Prince. Your Father ordered us to stay with you at all times," Kunzite corrected me, sounding slightly impatient now. "My Father. Well, you are my generals now, so obey my orders. And I order you to leave me alone. If it upsets you that much, I'm sure you can arrange to have the rooms next to mine, but I have to get up early tomorrow and endure Lestat's torturous lessons. So if you don't mine, gentlemen, I am taking my leave now," I said, and teleported out of the living Hell. My couch looked so inviting when I appeared in my lounge room. I wandered over there, half asleep, and almost laid down on Nick who was seated there, flipping through the many channels on my entertainment unit. "God, Darien!" Nick yelped and scrambled out of the way. "Sorry, Nick, I'm just a bit tired," I muttered. "What time is it anyway?" "Almost lunch time. I was wandering where you had gotten to, since our class was cancelled today. Unfortunately, Dawn's class wasn't," Nick replied, settling onto the end of the couch. "So, where have you been? I looked in all the usual places, and didn't find a trace of you." "I've been to the Dark Earth Kingdom's capital planet. And you don't want to know what I've been up to," I answered, and tried to stretch. "I'm still in this cursed armour, aren't I?" I muttered, and let the blue light change my clothing and cover up my symbol. "What ever you've been doing, I would wash your face before you went any where. There's something staining your lips and chin," Nick replied, eyeing me carefully. "Fine, I've been drinking blood. Are you happy?" I asked, glaring at him. "Drinking blood? In case you've forgotten, Darien, you're human; not a vampire," Nick said, trying not to smile. "I suppose it was part of that Loyalty Ceremony you were talking about yesterday." "Unfortunately," I replied. "And Lestat was there. He was laughing at me through the entire thing, and I tell you, if I ever see him again, he is going to be sorry." Nick smiled and shook his head. "Well, it's over now at least. We've got the rest of the day left. Want to do something?" he asked, taking the remote control for the entertainment unit again, which he had dropped in surprise, and flipped through the many channels again. "Please, Nick, I've just been through a very disturbing ordeal. Drinking blood was only half of it. My weary body needs a rest before I do anything with it," I replied, standing up and moving towards my bed room. "How about we talk tomorrow?" "Alright. There's something I need to finish reading anyway. I'll see you later then," Nick said as he stood and walked to the door. "See you," I replied half heartedly as I wandered into my room and fell onto my bed, grateful that it was so soft and comforting. Nick let himself out and left me in peace. I let myself slid into much needed unconsciousness. The pillows were so soft against my cheek, and the sheets so cool under my bare hands and feet. Never Never Land was beaconing me, and I was only too happy to take the Sandman's out stretching hand and surrender myself to him. Pain suddenly grasped me, making me gasp in shock, draining away any sleep that had clung to me. My palms was throbbing with pain. I sat up in my bed and looked at them, my eyes wide in shock. There were tiny cuts randomly displayed there, each bringing forth bright red blood. A vision flashed through my mind as I stared at it. Serenity, standing on her balcony, my black rose held tightly in both hands, so tight that the tiny thorns on the stem of the rose cut into her tender hands. "Goodbye, Endymion," the words passed through her lips. And then she threw the rose off the balcony. The vision ended. I stared blankly into the space in front of me, confused by what I had just witnessed. My eyes were wide, vacant, my mouth slightly open. And I just stared into eternity. "My Prince!" Kunzite's voice exclaimed, cutting though the silence. I did not move. I hardly heard his distressed voice, nor my other three generals come rushing into my room behind their leader. Serenity, Serenity, Serenity. The blood on my hand smeared onto my face as I tried block out the vision of her. She was there, throwing away the rose. The rose became red as it fell through the air. I cried. The tears welled out from the bottom of my soul and I just cried. "Please, Serenity, no," I whispered through my tears. She was there, just standing out of my reach. Her lips started to form those words; 'Goodbye, Endymion'. "Please. Don't say goodbye," I said, and rose and walked to her, seeing nothing but her standing there. "I love you." And suddenly she was gone, and I was lying on the floor on my stomach, arms by my side, my eyes blank, the tears falling silently from my eyes. The rose touched the ground and became black. I closed my eyes. "The future is the product of the past, Endymion," a voice told me softly. I turned. Darkness surrounded me, and I could see nothing. Was I dreaming? "Partly," came the reply. "I am speaking to you through your dreams." Straining, I could distinguish the outline of a figure against the darkness. There was something familiar about the form. I had seen the cut of the uniform before. "Sailor Pluto," I breathed, not really knowing whether to be surprised or afraid. "Yes, Prince Endymion," she said, her form clear now for me to see. In her hand she held a long staff. One end held a blood red garnet orb. "I am the Guardian of Time and Space, one of the Sailor Soldiers, guard of the Moon Kingdom." I narrowed my eyes. "Why do you come to me in my dreams?" "To tell you that your course of actions is upsetting the Time Line. The existing future has changed because of you, and all that hold is your destruction and the like of others around you," Pluto said, her dark green hair flaring out behind her. "I thought we created our own futures," I said quietly. "Yes, that is true, Prince Endymion. The future is ours to create. I live outside of Time, and I see all that has, will or can happen. The future that was most likely for you and others has been changed, that is all," Pluto replied, her brown and red eyes gazing intently into mine. Without warning, she lifted her ivory staff and pointed it into the darkness. The space swirled, becoming a silver liquid, not unlike the still ponds and rock pools reflecting the silver moon light. A vision appeared there, unclear at first, blurred and unfocused. "Look there, Endymion. See what has passed, and what will come should you continue with what you have began," Pluto commanded. I looked, unable to disobey. Serenity. Always her. There was no other. She wept. Silver crystal tears fell from her eyes, so clear and blue as they always were, marked with the flaw of the falling tears. Her face was flushed, making her all the more beautiful, but giving her a hopeless look of sadness. And what had caused her all this pain? Who else but myself? My harsh words, stinging her fragile soul, breaking her heart over and over. She could see nothing but the times we had spent on Earth, the happiness we shared, and then the recent coldness I had expressed towards her, my hatred and anger. She was confused and hurt, on breaking point. She had never meant to hurt me. Only duty had bound her to it, as duty bound me to hate her and to destroy her life. The portal shifted, becoming black. Another vision became clear. It was dream like. The future; not yet created, but surly to come. Serenity stood there, her golden hair in that usual style, flowing behind her like spun gold, laced with silver and jewels. Dressed in her gown, as lovely as an angel. But something was wrong. Where was her innocent and sweet nature? Her eyes; they showed no of the happiness I had always known, none of the kindness. Only hate. And the symbol apon her forehead. Green and blue earth, black crescent moon. The scene changed again, moving outwards, showing the larger picture. A tall figure stood beside her, his elegant arm around Serenity's slim waist, his soft pale lips kissing her silken hair. Oh, I could have screamed. Hurt me again, dare you! Give your love to another!? And him, of all the wretched souls in this imperfect universe. Diamond. Always him. The thorn in my side. The portal collapsed apon itself, crushing the image it projected into my field of vision. "You crossed time and space to show me that? To show me how Serenity will hurt me next?" I roared at the soldier of Time and Space. My blue allure or energy glowed around me, showing my anger and rage towards this guard of the Moon Kingdom. "You are interrupting what I have shown you incorrectly, Prince Endymion," Pluto stated calmly, her voice as strong and cold as if it emitted from a stone statue. "No. She does that to hurt me. Her tears; they are nothing more than an over dressed act. And her loving Diamond, well, she does that to hurt me because she knows I love her, and I can not live without her. Everything she has ever done was to hurt me, and I will hurt her in return!" I yelled. "Never speak such words of my Princess to me again, Prince Endymion. You do not know her as well as I do. She would never hurt the one she truly loves. Dwell on what you have seen tonight, Prince of the Earth Kingdom. Your happiness in eternity depends on it, as does hers," Pluto said coldly with a hint of anger. "Tell it to someone who cares," I answered and turned my back on her. "You are foolish to ignore my warnings, Endymion," the Guardian of Time warned. "I'm sure. Serenity sent you to torment me, didn't she? Well, tell her she's caused me enough pain, and I'm glad I hate her, that I can live without her hurting herself just to cause me pain," I replied. "Heed my warning, Prince of the Earth Kingdom," Pluto said, and was gone. I awoke. The lights were dimmed as I had left them when I had fallen asleep yesterday, and I was lying on the bed where I had collapsed, exhausted. The time piece hanging on the wall told me it was early morning. I had slept the remainder of yesterday and the night. Did I dream all that had taken place? I was lying in my bed. Had I not fallen, calling out to Serenity? I glanced at my hand. There was no wounds, no blood. What of Pluto? Did I dream our conversation too? Making my way to the bathroom, I found no trace of blood on my face neither. But it had all seemed so real! Perhaps I was just going insane. "Kunzite!" I called into the empty rooms. The general appeared before me. "Yes, my Prince?" he asked with a small bow. "Don't bow to me, and don't call me 'my Prince'. Endymion or Darien would be fine," I said, quite sick of all formalities. "I want to ask you something. Did you come into my room last night?" Kunzite feel silent of a moment. "Yes. We sensed that you were troubled and came to see if you needed assistance. It appeared that you were having a nightmare, and had sleep walked." "Was I hurt in anyway? A cut perhaps?" I asked, glancing at my hands again. "No," Kunzite answered. "Why do you ask?" "I dreamt that I was. Don't concern yourself over it," I said with a shake of my head and a smile. "I assume it was just something a certain enemy of ours tried to upset me with. So, my High General, what are the plans for today?" "We'll be joining in your training classes. Of course, we will not reveal your true self. Would the name Darien be suitable for use among your peers?" Kunzite asked. "Yes, of course," I replied. "Very well, Darien, I will see you when you attend your class," Kunzite said and teleported away in a streak of light. Dreams. Such illusive products of the mind they were. Best just to forget them. Why dwell on something you could hardly remember? Better to focus on reality. But why those dreams? Why anything? Serenity's goodbye, Pluto. They came to me for a reason. To warn, yes. But they were both so different. Serenity said goodbye to me. Did she really mean it? Why did I even care! Pluto. Time. Future, Past, Present. She knew all. She warned me. Not to hate Serenity? To love her as I was born to do? But I was born to hate her, to destroy her! I was torn, plain and simple. Love her, hate her. If only I didn't feel so much. How I wanted to hold her in my arms, to kiss her, to tell her I loved her, that I would give my life for her. She was my angel, my only love. Yet how I wanted to hate her, to make her feel the pain she's caused me. Enough. No more. Let destiny take it's course. Should faith have it that we live happily ever after, or whether our lives are to be destroyed by one anther, then let it be. I was but a pawn in this life. I had no power. Dearest Serenity, whose name means tranquillity, peace, bliss, of which I had none, prepare for war, for that was what I had been demanded and destined to do. And should our love triumph over the hate that existed between our worlds, then I would be eternally grateful. End of Part Two, Chapter Six. End of Part Two, period.
