~Emerald Eyes~ ~(PG) Chapter 3 By Callisto~ Neighbor "Mako Chan," Usagi said, turning to Makoto as they walked home from school. "Are You sure you?re OK? I mean because of yesterday, and how you left so suddenly." "Oh, I?m fine, Usagi-chan." Mako turned to Usagi and smiled. She didn?t know why, but she just couldn?t tell anyone about the weird daydreams she had been having. She didn?t understand them herself, and she didn?t want to worry the others for no reason. "It was just ... well, I just wanted to ... get away from that annoying Shin!" She made up the only excuse she could think of. "He was giving me a headache. And the way Rei and Minako were going crazy over him! Please. I didn?t want to watch that anymore." "I think he likes you!" Usagi said with a sly grin. "What!" Mako cried shocked, and looked down at the ground. Her face became a light shade of pink. "I don?t think so." She said as they turned the corner, looking up just in time to see Mamoru and Shin coming their way. Usagi?s eyes lit up,"Mamo-Chan!" she cried as she ran to Mamoru. "Usako! Hi, Mako-chan." Mamoru said. "Hi Usagi-san, Makoto-san." Shin said smiling politly. "Hi Mamoru-san." Makoto said smiling happily at Mamoru, but turned sharply and grimly said to Shin,"Hello." "Well, I?d better get going. I have a lot of studying to do. Are you going to come Usagi- chan?" Mako said turning. "Mako-chan, me and Mamo-chan are going to go to the movies tonight. Didn?t I tell you?" Usagi told Mako a bit giultily. "Well I?d better get going home as well." Shin said happily. "Have fun you guys!" "Bye Usagi-chan..." Mako said turning sadly. "Bye Mako-chan." Usagi called after her. "I?ll see you tomorow!" Makoto walked silently down the street for a moment, but she heard footsteps behind her and looked behind her. "Why are you following me?" She asked Shin a bit angrily. "I?m not following anyone." Shin said in his usual carefree voice. "Yes you are you?re following me. Didn?t you say you were going home or something?" She replied not bothering to even look back. "I am." He replied simply. Giving up for the moment Mako returned to walking in silence. Barely two blocks from her house, the sound of footsteps behind her still there, she spun around again. "Quit following me already!" She said getting angrier by the minute. "Hey there?s no law against me walking home down the same street as you. Its not my fault we live near each other. Boy, you sure have a temper on you." He laughed still as calm as ever. "Ooh, what?s the matter with you, don?t you ever get mad!" Makoto stopped and turned around. "Yea, like right about now!" Shin said, his voice rising. "What?s that supposed to mean! You?re not the one being followed around town!!" She cried. "Ahh!" She let out an exasperated yell, turned around and began stomping down the street. She walked past two corners and glanced back to see if Shin would turn, but he never did. When she atopped at the gates of her apartment complex she noticed that the footsteps behind her were gone. "Finally!" She thought, but when she glanced around she saw that Shin had stopped behind her. "Are you going in or not?" He asked, that grin still spread across her face. "Ok, now you really are following me!" She cried, her temper raising. "Who would have known we live in the same complex? What a coinsidence!" He smiled as she gave a low groan and opened the gate. She walked to her biulding and headed for the elevator. She pushed the button and walked inside. The doors began to slide shut, but before they could Shin stopped it with his hand and stepped inside. "Floor 5?" He said. "Oooohh!!" Mako cried as she pushed the number five. She stood in the corner waiting for the elevator to reach her floor. She glanced behind her to see a smiling Shin looking at her. She quickly looked away and watched the numbers move up as they made their way to floor five."2...3...4... Why is it taking so long?" She thought. ?Ding!? the bell chimed and the doors slide open. Makoto wlked down the hall, stopped at her door fumbling through her key chain in search of her house key. She looked three doors down to see Shin turning the key in his door. She glared and unlocked her doo and stepped inside. "Goodnight neighbor!" Shin called happily after her. She stopped and let out an exasperated yell and slammed the door shut behind her. She could still hear Shin laughing as he clicked his door shut.
