Title: Love Silver Millennium Style By: Charlenie E-mail Address: butterflydragongirl@yahoo.com "Part One: Difficult Matchmaking" "Chapter One: Not-so-sweet "I hate you!"s in the Garden" Rating: A G or soft PG (damn is used once and so is the phrase "my life sucks!") Hello Minna-san! I have decided to join the many ranks of fan fiction writers who write a story about the Silver Millennium. and yes, I sorta stole the title from an old 1970's variety show so sue me (oh please not really, I am truely broke and my parents would not enjoy a law suit right now) Except, our good friends Usagi and Mamoru don't fall in love at first sight. (Right now, it is *so* cliche). In fact, they hate each other (sound familiar?). Why, you ask? Because I was tired of "fall in love at first sight stories" out there. There are way too many (some are good some are bad, you know who you are...) I wanted to right a fan fic about the Silver Millennium and well here I am! Also, I would like to apologize if this fic turns out to look real bad. There really is no way to fix that on Yahoo! Mail, I really am sorry if it happened. Thanx for taking the time to read this pointless message, Charlenie (please send comments, complements, and even flames to: butterflydragongirl@yahoo.com.) (oh yeah: Sailor Moon and 'Love American Style' do not belong to me WAAAHHHH! (about Sailor Moon not "Love American Style") I am using them artistically in a work of fiction so please don't sue me or my nice, wonderful, law-abiding parents!) Love Silver Millennium Style by: Charlenie Part One: Difficult Matchmaking Chapter One: Not-so-sweet "I hate you!"s in the garden. Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom sat in her favorite spot in the Royal Gardens, in her personal rose garden. She felt much pride in them, because she had grown them on her own with no help from the gardener. Today her mother, Queen Serenity, would introduce her to yet another Royal Family, this time they where from Earth, in an attempt to find a suitor she "would not reject." Fat chance. She didn't want to marry some stupid little prince from some stupid little kingdom that just happened this time to be the planet her home revolved around. In fact, she didn't want to marry at all. All she wanted to do was live a long happy life ruling her kingdom, and in nowhere in her happiness equation did a Prince come into the picture. She could imagine this Prince, what had her mother said his name was...oh yes it was Endymion, she could imagine this Prince Endymion: arrogant, oppressive, cute, but totally exasperating. Princess Serenity knew that tonight, she would be miserable, and that she would have to guide him around the Palace Grounds while he told boring, exaggerated accounts of old battles. Needless to say, the Princess had predisposed herself to be a bored, boring hostess who would have the worst time she had had in her life. "Princess Serenity?" A soft voice called. The Princess recognized it as her mother's and responded properly, "Yes, Mother?" "The Royal Family of Earth will arrive shortly. If you wish to freshen up, I suggest that you do so now." The last part was more of an order than a pleasant request. Princess Serenity then heard the footsteps that heralded her mother's leaving. The Princess let out a sigh. She had to go make herself "pretty." Was there anyone in her life who understood she didn't want to get married at the moment? She couldn't even confide in her Senshi anymore, for being princesses themselves, they were too busy getting crushes and being courted to understand her plight. One of them would probably have accepted an offer from one of the numerous Royal Families by now. It surprised her that none of them were married yet. Maybe it had something to do with being a Sailor Senshi and her guardians. The Princess reluctantly arose from her spot on the warm bench and walked to the Palace to "freshen-up." ______________________________________________________ Prince Endymion of Earth sat on the transport that would take him to the Moon Kingdom. Later, he would meet yet another princess his parents thought would be a good wife for him. He could imagine her: vain and full of giggles, which sprung from extremely lame jokes. Sure she'd be beautiful, but that didn't make a person, and Prince Endymion knew that. The transport stopped at the station and the door opened to reveal a beautiful landscape. His parents stepped out, looking as dignified as ever, and gestured for him to do the same. The Prince escaped from the stuffy transport and saw the beautiful girl in a sailor fuku who had been sent to greet them and escort them to the Palace. The Senshi was young and had long black hair and purple eyes. Her fuku was red and purple and she had a smile on her face. "Welcome to the Moon Kingdom," she said cheerily, "I am Sailor Mars and I have been sent by Queen Serenity to escort you to the Royal Palace where you will be staying for the duration of your visit. If you will please follow me, I will take you there now, its not a long walk." Sailor Mars walked off and the Royal Family of Earth followed her. Sailor Mars had been correct, it hadn't been a long walk. They all reached the Royal Palace in a matter of minutes. They entered the Palace in a grand procession, stopping at the open doors of the huge banquet hall. Sailor Mars told them that was where they could wait of the Queen and her daughter. She smiled, announced it had been a pleasure, and left them standing by the large, open mahogany doors that were intricately carved and inlaid with Moonstone. The King and Queen of Earth entered the banquet hall followed by their son. They all sat in adjacent chairs in front of a large table. And they began to wait. ______________________________________________________ Princess Serenity sat in front of the large mirror on her dressing table. She took out her odangos, the trademark hairstyle of the Royal Family of the Moon, and let rivulets of golden hair fall about her face and down her back. She picked up her brush for several minutes and pulled several tangles out of their consecutive knots. Brushing her hair never failed to soothe her, even though to comb her whole hair of extremely long hair usually took several hands and several hours. Looking into the mirror, the Princess saw a totally different face peering back. Long golden hair framed a young, beautiful face, which contained sad blue eyes, a well-shaped nose, pink lips, and a Crescent Moon insignia on the girl's forehead. Seeing the Moon insignia, she broke out off her reverie. It was the only distinguishing mark on her. The only other person who had one was her mother. There'd be no way she could hide in the local population for a while until the Prince and his family were gone... The Princess then parted her hair and put it back up in its normal odangos in a matter of sceonds. After six years of putting her hair in that particular fashion by herself, it was second nature. She checked in the mirror whether the buns were equal, and seeing that they were, the Princess arose and went to the balcony where the air was fresh and there was always a breeze to ruffle her hair. She looked over to her beloved gardens, leaning over the rail so much that she almost lost her balance and fell over the balustrade.* "Princess?" A soft voice called. Could no one leave her alone? "Yes?" She replied calmly. "It's Sailor Venus. Your mother requests your presence at the royal entrance to the banquet hall immediately." "Thank you. You *can* go if you wish. I do believe you still have working legs." The Princess said cynically. She wanted to stay *here*, not go meet the "Prince of Earth." "Your welcome. Oh and *I* think you're lucky. I sneaked a peek and he *is* cute." Sailor Venus let a giggle escape. "Nothing but the best for my Princess." Sailor Venus then left as silently as she had arrived, closing the door behind her. As if the cuteness or non-cuteness of a person really mattered in her liking of a person. If she was lucky, he'd have the personality of a twig. Princess Serenity reluctantly left her comfortable spot on the balcony and gracefully put on her "house shoes," delicate ivory satin ballet-type slippers which were lightly embroidered with gold circles along the top, in the fashion of her dress. The Princess walked down the marble staircase and made her way to the door where her mother waited for her. As she walked, the Princess instructed herself *not* to be spirited, interesting, or anything else that was hereself. *He* would like her if she was herself, so she wouldn't be who she really was. Queen Serenity had her silver-light blue-white hair in their normal odangos and wore her usual white dress with bows in the front and back. Princess Serenity had always thought it looked like a sailor fuku that had been made into a dress fit for a royal function.** ______________________________________________________ Prince Endymion was thoroughly bored. He had been waiting for Queen Serenity and her namesake daughter for what seemed like hours, but he knew had only been for about twenty minutes. Not that late for a monarch. His parents had stared a casual banter about nothing, just to take up time. Their talk was about nothing interesting, just affairs of state and the like, none of which interested the Prince. He thought about whether he should be difficult or not. Difficult, he decided. That way the Princess would become so exasperated with him, that she would soon lose interest, and he could go after who he really thought was special: Sailor Mars. She was beautiful, helpful, kind, gentle, and not like any other princess he had ever met. Maybe it had something to do with being a Sailor Senshi that evened out one's temper. The doors opened and through them came the graceful form of Queen Serenity. Her silver-white-light blue hair was done up in the most peculiar style, two buns, one on each side, with ponytails coming out of them. Odangos is what he had heard them been called in the past. She wore a white dress with bows in front and back, not unlike a sailor fuku, he thought, and had the golden insignia/birthmark of the Moon on her forehead. Her eyes were light blue, and she had a welcoming smile on her face. Well, if her daughter were anything like her mother, than maybe Princess Serenity couldn't be *that* bad... The Queen stopped in front of the table and out came the Princess. Her blond hair was done in the same style as her mother's and she moved with the same fluid grace. Her eyes were a little bit darker shade of blue and wore a beautiful white dress. It was high waisted, a style that suited her figure beautifully. The top had gold circles (that looked like doughnuts ~.^) that went beautifully with the ivory color and beads of the same color lined the waistline. She wore a gold-beaded bracelet on her right wrist and had two pearl barrettes in her hair. She couldn't be more than fourteen, but as beautiful as she was, she lacked one important feature: a smile. She must have had a beautiful one, but she must not use it often. Her face held an expression of indifference and looked down at the floor a lot. She glanced at him once and he caught a glimpse of anger in her eyes. Anger? The Princess must resent this marriage business as much as I do, he thought, there's one thing we have in common. Still, he was determined not to like her. ______________________________________________________ Sailor Venus was right, he *is* cute, the Princess thought to herself, still, he must be an absolute dork. "Prince Endymion," her mother said, "Princess Serenity will give you a tour of the Palace Grounds and, later, a tour of the city and the surrounding country. I will be throwing a ball in two weeks and Prince Endymion is to act as Princess Serenity's official escort." Well, they are sure trying to be discreet, thought Princess Serenity cynically. She rose from where she had sat down a few moments ago and said aloud in a flat voice, "Prince Endymion, if you would follow me..." He rose, and from the look on his face, Princess Serenity decided that he looked about as thrilled as she felt about the time they were going to be spending with each other. She showed him the vast ballrooms first, where she told him the *full* thousand year history of the rooms. "No offense, Odango Atama, but you are not adept at keeping people awake." Prince Endymion said to her after she had recited the full three hour history of the room. The Princess could not keep the anger from biting into her tone, "What did you just call me?" "Odango Atama." He calmly replied. "Why you...you...you exasperating man! How dare you call me that! I refuse to show you the rest of the Palace! I'll get one of the Sailor Senshi to give you the rest of the tour, I don't know who, but I personally refuse to go on any further!" And she stormed off, glad of the excuse to be angry with him. _______________________________________________________ Prince Endymion didn't think *that* angry. That wasn't his intention...yet. His plan had been to slowly annoy her until she went insane. The Prince was following Sailor Mercury, a blue haired, blue eyed, blue fukued Sailor Senshi. She was pleasant enough and knew enough history of the Palace for the tour to be interesting (though she did use words and concepts he had never heard of before when they had passed the Palace laboratories). Their personalities fit well together and they became fast friends. After she had given him the full tour, the two spent the rest of the time until dinner talking about various things (like the push from both Senshi and Prince to marry someone and soon).*** Dinner was pleasant enough, though Prince Endymion didn't think it was possible for a human being to eat so much food at one sitting. He saw the Princess eat enough food to feed a full army for a month (or so it seemed to him, anyway), and he wondered how she kept her small figure. It sort of grossed him out and he kept his attention towards his own plate. After dinner he went to the small rose garden that Sailor Mercury had showed him earlier and proceeded to examine the beautifully colored roses. Suddenly, an angry voice came out of the absolute silence and solitude of the garden. "What do you think you are doing with *my* roses?" It was the Princess. "Well? I asked you a question, 'What are you doing with *my* roses?'" "I am admiring them." The Prince replied. That seemed to take the wind out of her sails. "Do you have a problem with that?" "In fact, I do! You're going to...to...to rub off all the pollen and kill the resident rose population!" "Sure I am, Odango Atama," Prince Endymion said in a mocking tone and he smirked as he saw her face turn bright red in anger. "I do have a rose garden at home, I think I know how to handle them." "First off, as I have said before, do not call me Odango Atama, and second, keep your filthy paws off MY ROSES!" She had started off quiet and then had lost control and started screaming at him. "And third, I HATE YOU AND WANT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU!" "Odango Atama, I just want you to know that I'm going to call you Odango Atama and handle your rose garden, if I damn well please! I also want you to know that I hate you, too!" The Princess stuck her tongue out at him and gave him a raspberry (you know what I mean) and stomped off inside the Palace. _______________________________________________________ Princess Serenity was *angry*. He has called her that horrid name again and if that wasn't bad enough, he had messed with *her* roses! She ran to her mother's chamber, where she had retired for the evening. "Mother!" She called. Hearing her daughter's distress, the Queen let the Princess into the chamber, "What is it, my dearest daughter?" "Oh mother, you cannot force me to be with Prince Endymion for a whole half-month! I cannot stand him for that long! I cannot stand him at all! You have made a horrible mistake in your matchmaking!" "I do apologize, my dearest daughter, but you *must* remain with Prince Endymion for these two weeks. I cannot find anyone else on such short notice. Besides, you make such a cute couple, that I would hate to break you up!" "Mother, I cannot stand being in the same room as him, yet alone have him be my escort! I utterly refuse for him to be my escort!" "My dearest daughter, as I have said before, I cannot find anyone else! You will give him the tour of the city and surrounding country, show him a good time (again, you know what I mean you sick people!), and he *will* escort you to the ball. I will hear no more of it!" Princess Serenity had never heard her mother use so firm a tone before and knew it was not a time to argue with her. "Good night, mother." The Princess said solemnly as she walked out of her chamber. "Good night, my dearest daughher." Was the Queen's soft reply. Princess Serenity had changed into her white nightgown and had let down her hair from their customary odangos (she couldn't stand it when she laid down sideways and a bun dug sharply into her head). Her Senshi had come to her chamber as well, clad in their sleepwear, to spend the night because every once in a while they had a "sleep-over" and talked about their troubles, crushes, and all the latest gossip (like how Princess Mekana of the planet What's-its-name wore a wig!). All the girls asked her about her day with Prince Endymion and she told them about it from the ballroom scene to the recent incident in her rose garden to her mother's firm "you will stay with him." Princess Ami looked puzzled. "When I was giving him the rest of your tour, Princess, he was nice about and we had a nice long talk about our lives, afterwards. It seems he has a lot of pressure from his parents to marry, like me." Princess Serenity looked at her like she was crazy. "And I snuck a peek at him when he entered the Palace, and he sure is dreamy," Princess Makoto said. "Anyone that handsome just cannot be as bad as you say he is." Princess Serenity looked sad, like no one believed her, and was losing ground quickly. "Maybe he's just reacting negatively toward you because his parents are pushing the marriage." Princess Rei said softly. "I know I would if my mother and father stared being severly unsubtle about wanting me to marry a complete stranger. Or maybe, your personalities just don't mix." "No way I believe it. They are perfect for each other." Princess Minako said firmly. "We are NOT perfect for each other!" Princess Serenity yelled. "I hate him and he hates me! What more is there to it! And I am stuck with him for two whole weeks for hours a day! My life sucks!" The Princess threw herself on her bed, not wanting to fight with them anymore about her and Prince Endymion's incompatibility! Her friends just shook their heads slowly and went back to talking giving her the space that they knew she needed until she had calmed down a little. *(AN: A really fancy way of saying a railing or banister) **(AN: While the Sailor Senshi are royalty, they do not wear their sailor fukus to royal functions, they wear the "princess dress" of thie respective planets and aura colors. The fukus are their battle uniforms.) ***(AN: I am NOT building a romantic relationship between Prince Endymion and Sailor Mercury. I am building a friendship. It will be important in chapters (and parts) to come.) Hope you liked it! Send comments, compliments, and even flames to butterflydragongirl@yahoo.com.
