Sailor Moon Quasar: A Plutonian Girl and Her Dog Chibi-Mamoru Darien Chiba Chapter 5 Event 5B: Preventive Justice (Or Is It Vengeance?) "Come in," I called. Sharon walks into the room and I spin around to face her. "What is it, Mama?" "What are you doing?" Sharon asked me. "Oh, you're doing your history homework. I hear you were upset about something having to do with Hermione Mizuno." "Yeah, I heard from Cecelia that she's being abused," I agreed with Sharon. "I also heard that your response to this news was to burn Dr. Mizuno's house to the ground," Sharon continued. "That response is so out of proportion to news you don't even know is true that it affrights me. I have half a mind to take you to a child psychologist to find out how the hell such a thought entered your mind." "I'm sorry, Mama," I apologized. "Claribel, it's okay to be angry and want revenge on someone that has hurt you or angered you," Sharon said as she sits on my bed and takes my small tender hands in her big seasoned hands, "but acting violently and destructively on that anger is not." "Mama . . . ," I protested. "I'm not finished yet," Sharon rudely cut me off. "Claribel, I'm going to punish you by grounding you until further notice. If your father and I catch you anywhere but at school, at home, or Cherry Hill Temple during this time, you will be spanked. You will bring your homework to us to be checked for completion and accuracy every night and if we don't like the quality of your work, you'll redo it until we find it acceptable." "Mama, I learned my lesson already," I protested. "I know I went off half-cocked and I promise that I'll never, ever do it again. I feel awful for wanting to burn down Dr. Mizuno's house and I'm sorry that I hurt you and Papa by the rash actions I have performed as well as those I was about to perform . . ." "I don't think you have learned a thing, Claribel," Sharon told me as she dabs my teary eyes. "Don't forget that your father and I decide the length and the conditions of your punishment. Even if we do lift your punishment, some of the conditions may be permanent." "Mama, this isn't just," I sobbed. "I know what I was about to do was wrong and I feel bad about it, but you're making matters worse." "I beg to differ with you, Claribel," Sharon disagreed. "This is being more than fair. Now no more talk; your punishment begins now. Back to work!!" Sharon then rises and leaves. I turn my attention to my homework and try to resume working, but I can't bring myself to do anything. Why is this happening? I'm just a little girl!! I'm too young to be treated this roughly!!! I didn't actually do anything wrong. Mama, why can't you see that? And this homework . . ., I need a break. I head to the kitchen and fill Cereberus's dish with kibble. "Claribel, where are you going?" Kerwin asked. "I'm going to feed Cereberus, Papa," I told Kerwin as I head out to the back yard. Actually, Cereberus doesn't really need to be fed; I need to talk to him. "Claribel, why are you feeding me?" Cereberus asked me when I present him with the dish of kibble. I nearly drop the dish at this. "Cereberus, you can still talk to me!!!" I exclaimed. "I thought I had to have the Pluto Quasar Onyx to be able to talk to and be able to understand you!!!" "The Pluto Quasar Onyx started our liaison, but our mutual love for each other keeps it going, Claribel," Cereberus replied. "Claribel, what's the matter? You look as if you had a fight with your best friend." "My mama and my papa grounded me, Cereberus," I sobbed. Cereberus growls grimly at the news. "Claribel, don't cry; it's just a temporary punishment," Cereberus comforted me. "Just serve your sentence and it'll be over before you know it. Did your parents tell you why they were grounding you?" "Yes, they did," I told Cereberus. "I was about to set the Mizuno home on fire because Dr. Mizuno and Mr. Ryo were abusing Hermione." "CLARIBEL!!!!" Cereberus barked. "Look, Cereberus," I began, "I don't need a lecture from you!! I got lectured by Ariadne's parents for going off half-cocked and I got lectured by my papa for not coming to him with my feelings and then my mama lectured me and grounded me for not controlling my anger. I am sick of being lectured!!!!" "Claribel, why are you yelling at Cereberus?" Sharon asked me. I jump in surprise; I was so caught up in lecturing Cereberus that I hadn't noticed that Sharon had walked up behind me. "Cereberus can't understand a word you're saying. I knew it was a bad idea to stop making you take your afternoon nap. C'mon, Claribel." Sharon then grabs me by the arm and takes me inside to the kitchen. The next thing I knew, I feel seven sharp smacks on my rear end and then find myself locked in my room with orders to get on my homework. One thing that Sharon forgot, being the bitchy old crone that she is, is that it's very difficult to do homework when it hurts to sit down. But if I don't get my homework finished, who knows what else will happen to me? I grab the comforter off my bed, fold it several times, place it on my desk chair, and sit down. At least I can sit down somewhat comfortably now . . .
