Event 6E: A Cage of White I have never seen so much white before in my life!!!! Although a white bodysuit is part of my Quasar Sailor Pluto costume, I loathe the color white!!! "Papa, Mama, I hate it here!!!" I exploded. "Claribel, what did I tell you about talking to me in that tone of voice?" Kerwin asked me as he turns to look at me. "Your mother and I deserve to be spoken to with respect." "I know and I'm sorry, Papa," I told Kerwin, "but all this white makes me feel like nothing. I hate being here. Couldn't they have put some designs in red, green, or black on the walls to welcome me here? Anything but this white!! Yuck!!!" "Claribel!!!" Sharon and Kerwin exclaimed. I think I went too far this time. There's got to be something I can say to diffuse this. Think, Claribel!!! "Okay, everything's all unpacked," Sharon said to Kerwin. "Well, Claribel, we have to leave." "No, don't leave me here all alone, Mommy," I begged Sharon as I cling to her. "I know you don't want us to leave, but somebody will have to pay for this, Claribel," Kerwin told me as he gives me a hug. "This isn't free, you know." A pause. "Look, Claribel; why don't we do this? Your mother and I will arrange a surprise for you when you wake up from surgery. Until your surgery, we'll keep in touch with you and visit you when we can. OK?" "Daddy, I'm scared," I whispered in Kerwin's ear. "We know you're scared, Claribel," Sharon replied, "but getting yourself all worked up will not do you any good. Now I want you to just take it easy and not worry. Everything will be just fine." With that, Sharon then leads Kerwin out of the room. I can't help crying as I watch my parents head down the hall. "Mommy, Daddy," I sobbed as I lay myself on the bed. I begin to suck my thumb as I always do when left by myself. What's that down on the end of the bed? It's the blanket Sharon wrapped me in when I was a baby. I seize the blanket and wrap myself in it. I then resume sucking my thumb wondering what the future holds . . .
