Event 7C: The Rules are Set "Okay, now here's what will be taking place here," Neo-Queen Serenity explained to us once she was satisfied that the Inner Scouts and their daughters have left the palace grounds. "A triangle has already been marked off in the center of the gymnasium. You'll each have one hour to do as much fighting as you can. The idea here is to stay inside the triangle while you fight three of the twelve boys Mr. MacGrinrun has waiting in the wings which will be chosen for you at random. The boys will be allowed to leave the triangle; however, you won't. The line here is out, so that means you should avoid stepping on the triangle." "Here are what attacks will not be permitted," King Endymion said as he gets out a list. "There will be NO punches to the face. You will NOT attack the joints or the groin in any way. Grappling, sweeping, and throwing are also illegal. Ditto for wrestling and body slamming." Cecelia growls angrily. Many of the moves she uses while fighting have been forbidden by the king. "You will be allowed three chances to prove yourself. If you violate any of the rules I have laid down, you will be penalized with a strike." "Just like baseball," I remarked. Everybody laughs with me, even Serenity. "Yes, Claribel, just like baseball," Endymion agreed. "If you step on or outside the triangle, you will receive a strike just as you would if you made an improper attack. If you get three strikes, then I'll see you back here on July 2." "What about the boys? Do they have any rules?" Irvette asked Endymion. "The boys will have rules that they have to obey, Irma," Griffith told Irvette. "Mr. Caballero and I will be watching the fight to make sure that the boys behave themselves, so don't worry about them. You just do your thing the best way you know how." "Is there anything else you want to add, Serenity?" Endymion asked. "I have nothing further," Serenity told Endymion. Zaccheus and Griffith return that they have nothing further to add. "Well then, let's get started," Endymion said. "Claribel, you're up." Something tells me that this will be a long day.
