Chapter 9- My Betrayal

	Lea and I were walking and talking about what had been during the past few 
days that Neph had been alive. 
	"Listen, Justine," Lea said, "I know you miss Nephlyte.  I miss Luc.  I 
know how it feels to have someone you love die.  I had it happen to me."
	"But it wasn't your boyfriend," I said, bursting into tears.  "This isn't 
like one of those 'he will come back' type of deals.  He is dead.  Do you know 
what its like to watch someone you love die by the hands of a really good friend 
and not be able to do anything about it?  I don't think so.  I am sorry your 
brother died, but he didn't die by the hands of someone you knew."
	"I know you and Neph loved each other, but he was really evil," Lea said, 
"You know he was.  He sucked energy from a whole lot of people."
	"Big deal. He was trying to change.  If he was still alive he would be on 
our side Lea.  He loved me so much he would switch sides just to be with me," I 
sobbed.  Lea and I stood there looking at each other for a moment.  I suddenly 
felt a very bad presence, rise up behind me.  I scooted over to Lea and 
whispered to her to find a safe place to hide.  She nodded and ran into a dark 
alley.  I knew she had transformed, but I pretended not to notice.  
I transformed into the Evil Masked Defender, but I noticed that didn't have much 
strength in that form, like I usually did.  I looked up to see a smirking 
Zoicyte above me.  
	"So," she said, "the Princess of the Negaverse decided to turn her back on 
the queen?  What are you trying to prove?" 
	"That you were wrong for killing Nephlyte," I cried.  I jumped up to 
attack her but I only got as far as her but when gravity set in.  What is going 
on here?  Why am I not as strong as I should be in this form?  All of a sudden, 
I felt myself de-transform.  What was going on?  I felt something sharp go 
through the boots I was already wearing.  I all of a sudden felt something warm 
start to surround me and I closed my eyes as I was engulfed in a bright light.  
	"Justine," said a familiar voice.
	"Who is there?" I asked, fearful of this being Zoicyte trapping me in on 
of her blossom balls.  
	"Someone you know," said the voice.  "Someone who was once on the 
Negaverse and is now dead because he tried to protect you from dying.  Someone 
you care for and who knows he cared for you more than life.  We love each other.  
We will always love each other."  With that said I knew who it was instantly, 
and I was crying with joy at hearing his voice.  My eyes flashed open and I ran 
to him.  When I reached him, we kissed and hugged and kissed some more.  It felt 
good to be in is arms.  It was so warm and natural and comfortable there.  I 
finally stood away from him.  
	"Neph, am I dead?" I asked.  I had been asking for death lately, but I 
never was answered it.  I wanted to be sure it wasn't a dream. 
	"No, my darling, you aren't dead," he said, "but you would have been if I 
hadn't summoned you."  I was somewhat surprised at this remark.  Why would he be 
plucking me out of danger?  Didn't he have any faith in me?  
	"I-I don't understand," I said looking at him with unsure eyes.
	"I mean," he said, "you are not powerful enough to hurt Zoicyte 
sufficiently in your evil form, but she can hurt you enough to kill you.  You 
have a new form now, though, so you can kick her ass easily."
"What is this new form my love?" I asked curiously.  I was not aware that I was 
clutching at the same sharp object that had sent me to this wonderful yet 
confusing place.
	"Look in your hand," he said.  I opened my hand to see a pretty little pin 
in the shape of a butterfly.  "When you need to turn into your new form, you 
will take off this pin and shout 'Masked Defender Power!'  and then you will 
turn into the good 'Masked Defender' that you truly are.  You will need the help 
of the Sailor Cousins and the Sailor Scouts.  Don't be wary of them.  You all 
are fighting the same evil.  One day I will return to your side and fight with 
you.  Now, you must go fight with the girls and avenge my death."  I nodded and 
hugged him once more before closing my eyes again.
I opened my eyes.  I was back where I had been when I turned into civilian form.  
This time I would catch Zoicyte.  I looked in my hand and saw the pin still 
there.  Don't worry Neph, I thought, your death will be avenged!  
	"MASK DEFENDER POWER!!!" I yelled.  This time, when I had transformed, I 
felt much stronger.  It was than that the girls had decided to finally arrive.
	"Sorry that we weren't here earlier," said a very out-of-breath Sailor 
Mars.
	"Yea, we aren't as speedy as Sailor Sun is," concluded Sailor Moon, who 
was much more out-of-breath than the others.  She was a klutz, but that wasn't 
exactly the main problem at this point in time.  Sailor Sun, who was beside me, 
and I looked on impatiently as the three caught their breath.
	"I haven't got the all  time in the world," said Zoicyte.  I only had to 
do one thing after that was said.
	"Mask... Laser beam... CRASH!!" I screamed as a bunch of rose-like lasers 
flew at Zoicyte.  I heard her scream in pain and then saw her disappear in a 
flurry of cherry blossoms.  The Masked Defender had made a wonderful debut, 
making it look so easy to beat Zoicyte.  I knew I hadn't won yet, but I had 
gotten a good feel for a new power that possibly could defeat Zoicyte and the 
rest of the Negaverse.  The girls stared at me as if I were some kind of alien.  
I decided to introduce myself and then get out of there.
	"Allow me to introduce myself," I said, "I am the Masked Defender.  I 
defend the Sailor cousins and their fellow scouts, Masked Twins, the Princesses 
of the Moon and Sun, and the Princes of Earth.  I also seek the Emperium Silver 
Crystal to bring back my one true love.  I must leave now, but know that I am 
your friend and not your foe.  You can trust me and I will always trust you, my 
dear friends."  With that done I flew off, to my new home with Darien and Hiro.  
I was very happy with where I was, and that was far from the Negaverse.  I swore 
to never let the girls or guys down, and then peacefully went to sleep. 
	The next day, we found Sailor Jupiter.  Her real name was Lita Kino.  She 
was a real tough girl because she loved to fight and she was a really good cook, 
too. When we met, she and I hit it off.  I told her my boyfriend was dead.  Some 
one really mean had killed him and I wanted to get back at them badly.  She told 
me that love would come again and not to let the murderer get on my nerves.  She 
said they would get their just desserts.  I gave her a hug and whooshed off to 
school.  I was late, and I would get in trouble for sure.  Lea greeted me and 
said that the teacher would let me off because of my tragedy.  I was relieved 
from that.  After school, I decided to pay a little visit to the Negaverse.   I 
found out that Beryl wanted the 7 rainbow crystals to make the Invincible 
Shadow.  If she got all of them she would be able to make this huge monster and 
she could then destroy the scouts.  I knew she would try something to get me 
back but that wasn't the most important thing on my mind.  I had to get that red 
crystal.  I wasn't going to let Beryl get it.  That was not the plan and that 
didn't happen.  I appeared back on Earth right when Zoycite decided to pick on 
"Game Machine" Joe and tried to get the crystal out of him.  I got it away from 
her and that was when we found out Lita was Sailor Jupiter.  After that, the 
scouts got used to the Masked Defender.  The day after, Hiro and Darien found 
out they were the Masked Twins and I was the Masked Defender when they got the 
yellow crystal.  When we decided not to tell the scouts who we were we became 
even better friends than before.  More and more we won.  The score was Scouts 
and Cousins- 2, twins and Masked Defender-4, Negaverse-1.  The Negaverse then 
got the two the scouts had because they weren't paying attention.  Sailor V soon 
came.  Mal and Zoey were trying to get the 4 other crystals from the guys and 
Darien and Hiro were stabbed in the shoulder by Zoycite.  Luckily, I got out of 
that catastrophe with the guys and the girls.  I went to meet Sailor Venus and 
then the guys took off without me.  I wasn't too happy about that but when I got 
to their apartment, Zoycite had a nasty little surprise for us,  
	"Nice place you three have here," we heard Zoycite hiss.  The television 
screen clicked on by its self and we saw  the general we hated so much.  
	"How did you know where we lived?" Darien asked with a very angry voice. 
	"You didn't actually think we wouldn't find out who you were.  Oh Cape 
Boy, you aren't as elusive as you thought you were.  Justine, you aren't as good 
at protecting these two as you thought you were now are you?  Did you even feel 
the danger these two were in?  Were you waiting for them to show their 
identities  to the Negaverse?  I know you are on the scouts' and twins' side now 
but your heart will always belong to the Negaverse and you won't ever be able to 
leave until Beryl dies."
	"Fuck you!" I screamed at her.  Darien and Hiro stared at me awestruck.  
Zoycite didn't seem to be phased.  
	"Well, you still interested in the crystals?" she asked rhetorically.  I 
pushed  my mind into the twins' saying that they did want the crystals but they 
would have to be careful.
	"Of course we do," Darien said.
	"Well I am going to make this easy on the three.  We will meet at the 
Crystal Tower at 6 o'clock."
	"Well, you still interested in the crystals?" she asked rhetorically.  I 
pushed  my mind into the twins' saying that they did want the crystals but they 
would have to be careful.
	"Of course we do," Darien said.
	"Well I am going to make this easy on the three.  We will meet at the 
crystal tower at 6 o'clock.  You better get these two to a doctor Justine.  They 
are gonna need all the strength they can get."  As she left we all grimaced at 
the resonant sound of her laughter.   
	"Justine," asked Hiro, "why did you join our side when you could be alive 
and happy on the Negaverse?"
	"Hiro," I said, "remember that I was on the Negaverse, and I lost my love.  
I will do anything to be revenged on Zoycite, even if it means losing my life to 
protect you and the scouts.  Especially Sailor Sun.  She is my friend and I will 
guard her with my own life. Also, I would never have been happy while Zoycite 
was still alive and walking around and Nephlyte was a pile of dust in the 
ground."  He seemed satisfied and we were of to the Crystal Tower.  We ran into 
Lea and Serena, who decided to hit Darien on the back, while Lea asked Hiro what 
happened to them.
	"Oh, nothing really bad," I managed, "Hiro saw someone trying to mug his 
brother, and Hiro got in the way of the bullet. Which didn't really help his 
brother because Darien was stabbed any way.  I ended up saving them and there 
wasn't a scratch on me."  I laughed nervously, but Lea seemed to think it was a 
good enough excuse, so we left it at that.  We left in a hurry.  We said they 
had to get to the emergency room soon. The girls were still worried, so they 
followed us to the Crystal Tower. When we got there, Zoycite was waiting and 
trapped us in the one thing I absolutely hated, one of her blossom balls.  The 
girls screamed at us to help. We told them to get out, but they seemed to be 
really scared and they couldn't move.
	When we arrived in the Tower, Hiro, Darien, and I stayed next to the 
girls, who had fainted while in the pink ball that had brought us here.  Darien 
and Hiro talked to Zoycite and I stayed next to the girls.  Zoycite said that 
Mal was going to hold the Crystals while we fought this out.  The fight was over 
the Rainbow crystals anyway.  We decided that was okay so, we gave them our 4 
crystals.  Little did we know why they were going to use them.  Actually, I knew 
why they needed them, Darien and Hiro and the girls didn't.
"Justine," I heard a woozy Lea say quietly, "where are we? Why are Darien and 
Hiro talking to Zoycite?"
	"I cant lie to you my friend," I said, "we are in the Crystal Tower.  I am 
giving the crystals I got out of Zoycite's hands back to her while she and I 
fight a duel for them."
	Lea looked at me with that I-know-you-aren't-telling-me-the-story look, 
but she didn't say anything.  When we heard Zoycite scream in pain, we knew the 
twins had done something to make her do that, and she wasn't too happy about it 
one little bit. "You cut my face!" she yelled angrily.  I chuckled a bit.  I 
couldn't help it.
"So you think that's funny Justine, well  try this on for size.  Meet me up on 
the top of the tower in two minutes.  If you don't, I will just assume you don't 
want them.  Also I hope you know how to run."  All of a sudden we all felt a 
violent shaking,  and we ran straight into the elevator.  Everything was just 
like the Negaverse.  Green, ugly, and slimy all the way through.  We were all in 
the elevator talking when we got to the subject of our past.  Lea, not 
mentioning  she was Sailor Sun, told about her strange past.  Serena told about 
hers, being careful about mentioning Sailor Moon.  I revealed myself to them 
all. I had already revealed myself to the twins and Lea, but Serena had no clue 
to who I was.  She had thought I was someone who was a friend or a foe to the 
Sailor Cousins and Scouts.  I explained to her that being on the side of good 
was better than what I had on the Negaverse.  I had the hospitality from Sailor 
Sun that I never got once when I was on the Negaverse.  Lea and the guys weren't 
too surprised but they still acted as if it were unbelievable.  The next two to 
explain their history were the twins.  The told about a horrible crash and they 
could only remember one thing.  A young girls voice.    I admitted then that 
they were my adopted brothers.  They were genuinely surprised at that and so 
were Lea and Serena.  The guys and I hugged and Lea couldn't believe I was 
probably going to be her sister-in-law too.  Unfortunately, our little union was 
about to be separated by Zoycite.  She was sending a fireball towards all of us.  
I could tell that the girls were gonna have to reveal themselves to the twins 
but it wasn't really important at this point.
"Sailor Sun transform and tell Sailor Moon to do the same and don't ask 
questions, the guys will understand," I thought to her.  She nodded and the 
girls transformed.  The guys were really surprised, but they transformed later 
on and surprised the girls.  Well this is what happened.  The guys wanted the 
girls  to be safe while we were fighting Zoycite.  Zoycite tried to kill the 
girls but injured the guys instead.  While the girls were crying and pleading 
for my "brothers'" lives the Silver Emperium Crystal appeared and the girls were 
revealed as the Sun and Moon Princesses of the Silver Millennium and I was 
revealed as the Sun Aide of Princess Lea and I apologized greatly after we beat 
Zoycite, but that was still a long way off from then.  First, we got rid of that 
scum sucking Zoycite, which was really fun.  Second we lost the guys.  Serena 
was especially angry about that, but was my fault that I couldn't get the twins 
back without losing my life for it.  Third we almost got rid of Mal, but it work 
out that way.  One day we would all be on the same side and I knew it.  But now 
there was no telling what would happen to the guys.  I was definitely scared for 
them.  As it turns out, Hiro came back just as Lea was killed from one of evil 
Darien's roses.  It was pretty easy getting Hiro back from the Negaverse, but it 
would be hard to get Darien back.  But that's for the next chapter.

[an: okay here is the buzz on the Series.  You have 1-9 so far.  10 will be 
about How we get Darien back and 11 will be the start of Return.  I don't know 
what will be next, but I am thinking of a Nephlyte 3.  That  sounds like a good
