A cloud of dust a block long trailed behind a girl with blond hair in buns with pigtails. "Oh no! I?m gonna be late again! If I am, I?ll get detention for sure!" The girl continued on her way at a million miles per hour. She didn?t see where she was going and ran smack into someone. "Sorry! Gotta go! Bye!" The girl continued down the street. A man stared after her. He was dusting himself off after his little encounter. "What a strange girl!" he said out loud. "Who?re you talking to?" asked another voice. "Huh? Oh, hey Andrew. Some girl came careening down the street, ran right into me, then dashed off again." he replied. "Looks like you can?t keep the ladies away, eh Darien?" Andrew teased. Darien made a face, mock-punched Andrew, then continued down the street. * * * * * * * That night........ The blond haired girl was in a pair of pink PJ?s and her hair was in a braid. "Serena! Bedtime, dear!" called a voice. "Okay Mom!" called back Serena. She turned off her light and crawled into bed. * * * * * * * The next morning...... "Ahhhh! What a refreshing sleep. I?m wide awake! That was a creepy dream though. It?s only 6:0-Oh no! It?s 9:00! I?m soooo late! Why didn?t Mom wake me up?! What am I going to do? I?m too late for school. Let?s see where Mom is. I bet this is some joke of hers." Serena leaped out of bed, only to find she was fully dressed! She had on a pale pink skirt, sleeve-less shirt, short sleeve over- shirt that was unbuttoned, socks, and dress shoes all with lavender trim and designs. Her hair was even up in her normal style, with pink and lavender ribbons tied on, and she never wore that to bed. It hurt too much. "Whoa! Way weird! I wonder if I sleep walk too?" Serena shrugged. She left her room, with a strange sense of calmness. As she flounced into the kitchen, she was shocked to see no one was there. On the refridgerator was a note. It read: Dear Serena, I know that if you get this, you are okay. We are very worried about you. When I went to wake you up, you were not in bed. I went out to look for you, so if you get this before I?m home, you have some explaining to do. Love, Mom When Serena read that, she was shocked. ?Imagine that! I do sleep walk! And not just in my room! I left the house! How weird is that?? thought Serena. ?Man! That dream troubles me though. It was like I was really there! Huh? What?s this?? She had felt something at her throat. She grabbed it and found a pale pink and lavender stone on the end of a gold chain. ?Now I know that something really is up! I must have stolen this last night! That guy in my dream was weird. He reminded me of that man I ran into yesterday. I don?t even know the guy. Oh well. Let?s watch the news.? Serena went into the living room and turned to the news station. "Welcome back. I?m Dan Undersir, your fill-in news reporter. Robert Black is now at the scene of a very unusual fight last night. We take you live to Robert, out on 10th street by the junior high. Robert? What?s going on out there?" "Well Dan, we?ve got some very odd evidence of a fight last night, right here. There are scorch marks that are pink, purple, white, and black on the school building. There is a big crater in the middle of the street with the same scorch marks as the school building. There is a pair of foot prints that look like a cross between a dog and a duck in the middle. On the building are outlines of what appears to be a teenaged girl and mid-twenties man. We?re not sure of that one. We hope to find some witnesses, but until then, watch out at night people. Back to you Dan." Serena clicked off the T.V. and thought back to her dream. ?Well, I was at the school, and there was an odd thing I was fighting, with that other guy. I had that funny outfit on. It was like a pink and purple sailor suit, only more of a swimsuit, and that guy had on white and black armor. I remember something about magical attacks, but magic doesn?t exist! Oh well. I?ll keep watching the news. Or maybe- No. I have to wait for Mom to get back.? Serena sighed, then went to get some breakfast. By the time she finished, her mother was home. "Serena! What are you doing here? I thought for sure you were out!" her mother yelled at her while hugging her at the same time. "I woke up in my bed Mom. I don?t why know you thought I disappeared. Oh, did you hear about that crater thing by my school? Can I go check it out?" Serena begged. Her mother nodded. "Your whole school is out there looking at it, so don?t worry about getting caught. Just one look, then straight back here, got it?" "Thanks Mom! Be back in a little bit!" Serena dashed out the front door at a leisurely pace. * * * * * * * Meanwhile...... "Man, am I late! I can?t believe I slept through my alarm. Maybe it was because of that weird dream. Good thing I don?t have any classes till one, or I?d be toast!" said Darien out loud to himself. He walked into the kitchen of his small apartment and got breakfast and some coffee. He brought it to his coffee table and turned on the news. Back to you Dan." Darien sat in shock, not hearing the rest of the news. ?That sounds like my dream.? he thought. ?I remember that I was at the junior high, there was a cute girl in a funny outfit with a short skirt that was fighting with me. I think that we threw some weird balls that were pink and purple, and white and black. I had on armor......I think. Oh well, it doesn?t matter. Just my imagination showing through, that?s all. Better get ready. Maybe I?ll check out the crater, after I get-? Darien looked down at himself. "What?!?! I?m fully dressed!" he yelled to himself. He had on a white sleeveless shirt under a black sports coat and black pants. He was wearing black socks and shoes with white trim. "How weird is that?" he asked himself. He scratched his throat, only to find something else. It was a white and black stone on a silver chain. He scratched his head and wondered where it had came from. He also wondered where the clothes came from. Darien finished his breakfast, then decided to check out the crater for himself. He locked his apartment door behind him and strolled out. Serena was already at the crater. She edged her way to the front by squeezing through people. They didn?t get angry, since she was pretty short. "Wow!" she breathed. "Wow is right." came a voice from behind her. She turned. It was the guy from the street! "Umm....are you the guy that I ran over yesterday morning?" asked Serena. "Yeah. I?m Darien." He stuck out his hand. "Serena. Nice to meet you. For the second time, anyway. The first wasn?t so pleasant." They both laughed at that one. "Serena!" called a voice. Serena turned and found her four best friends from school. "Hey guys! Come over here." The four girls came up. One was very tall and had her brown hair up in a ponytail. The next tallest had black hair that came down to her knees. The last two were the same height. One had short, black hair. The other had blond hair that was half up in a bow. They all had on school uniforms from the junior high. "Serena, where were you this morning? Ms. Haruna was angry that you weren?t here." said the blond one. "Mina, I disappeared. At least, Mom says I did. She couldn?t find me when she came to wake me up for school." "Who?s the guy?" asked the brunette. "Oh. This is Darien. I ran him over yesterday when I was late. Darien, these are my four best friends. Amy," the short, black haired girl, "Mina, Lita," the brunnette, "and Raye." the fourth one.Serena had pointed to them in turn. "Nice to meet you." said Darien. He shook hands with them all. "So, you all go to the junior high here?" They all nodded. "How come you aren?t in your uniform then Serena?" he asked. Serena squirmed a bit. "Well, I don?t really know." Serena started fiddling with her necklace. Darien had taken his off and put it in his pocket. He was jingling it around in his pocket. "This isn?t even mine. I woke up in it this morning, even though I know that I was wearing pajamas last night. It was weird." Serena shook her head, trying to forget the dream. "So where do yo go to school?" asked Raye, sweetly. "The high school. I?m a junior." Darien replied. "How come you?re not in your uniform?" asked Serena. Darien shrugged. "I don?t know. I woke up in this. I don?t have class now any way. It?s a Tuesday. They don?t like Tuesday classes much. At least, for juniors." He had a funny look on his face. Serena, not seeing his face, had the same expression. The other four girls burst out laughing. "What?" questioned Serena and Darien at the same time. This just made the others laugh harder. Amy, being the first to be able to choke out some words, replied, "Your-your-your faces! They?re-?re-?re identical!" Serena and Darien looked at each other and shrugged. The other girls calmed down. They continued chatting. Serena felt that she knew Darien from somewhere. Darien had the same feeling. He pulled out his necklace as the four girls left when the teacher called out to them. As a parting, they told Serena, "Haruna is practically insane because you weren?t here this morning." That was Raye, always ready to snub Serena playfully. Serena laughed. She rubbed the back of her neck. Her necklace was bugging her. She unclasped it and held it in her hand. Darien glanced over at her. "Serena? What?s that in your hand?" Darien asked. "This? It?s my necklace. I-ah, it was on my neck when I woke up. Why?" She turned the tables on him. "Well-that is-ah-I have one like that. I mean-it?s the same design, not color. See?" Darien held out his necklace. Serena and Darien studied them. "Weird, huh?" asked Darien. Serena nodded. The two of them weaved through the crowd, leaving the site, wondering about each other.
