There I said it. ^_^ enjoy! ************************************************************************ Usagi and Mamoru woke the next morning to the sounds of horns being blown. "Uggh..........What....What time is it?" Usagi asked, still very much asleep. "It is about 10 in the morning, Usagi." Makoto called from the door of the hut. "I thought you two might want to sleep in after the fight last night." "All right, all right, I am up. We will be out in a few minutes, Mako-chan." Usagi said, as Makoto turned to leave and Usagi climbed out of the bed. Mamoru followed soon after. Usagi walked over to her bag, and pulled out a white tanktop and dark blue shorts. After shooing Mamoru outside, she slipped into the clothes, and went over to the mirror to fix her hair. She decided that she wanted it all up today, and so she made her hair into two balls on her head with streamers of hair falling from them. She then took the streamers and wound each twice around a ball, and then the exess was left partially down in a teardrop shape. As she finished, she stepped outside to allow Mamoru to change. He pulled out a tan colored tank top, and some black shorts, and slipped them on. Then he went to the mirror and brushed his wavy black hair out. Satisfied with his appearance, he rejoined Usagi outside the hut, and they went in search of Makoto. ************************************************************************ They found her in the center of the village, taking stock of the food. "Hey, Mako-chan!" Usagi called. "Hello, Makoto." Mamoru greeted her. "Hello you two. I am glad you are both up, because I need to speak to you." Makoto said, handing the items she was counting to another girl, who immediatly took over. Makoto motioned for them to follow her, and she lead them to her hut. Once inside, Makoto told them to sit. "I bet you both are wondering what this is all about, and that is why I called you here." "Yeah, why did you call us in here?" Usagi asked. "Well, Usagi, I have a mission for you. You know about the crystals, right?" "Yeah, I have three of them. Why do you ask?" "My crystal is hidden within the ruins of the Tsuki Temple. I assume that you have need of it, and therefore I propose this. If you find it, and bring it back to me, I will give it to you." "Sounds ok to me, but how do we get to these ruins?" Usagi asked "I will provide a guide to the ruins, and he will wait a safe distance away to lead you back here once you have the crystal." "All right, when do we go?" Mamoru asked. "How about one hour from now?" Makoto asked. "It is alright with me, how about you, Mamoru?" Usagi asked him. At his nod, Makoto smiled and stood. "Well then, I suppose you two had better get your gear together. We leave in an hour." Makoto said, heading out of the hut. Usagi and Mamoru exited shortly afterward. ************************************************************************ An hour later, Mamoru and Usagi were making their way down to the jungle floor, their guide not far behind. As they reached the floor, they turned and waved to Makoto, then turned to follow the guide. For a while, they traveled along the jungle trails, using a machete to cut down the frequent vines and branches that obstructed the path. Soon they were deep into the jungle, with the only sounds being that of the machete and the occasional screech of a monkey, but soon all sounds stopped. A short while later, they came opon the ruins. What had been left after all the years depicted the beauty that the structure had once been. With fine, decorative columns and strong archetecture, the ruins were truly magnificent. At the entrance stood a statue of Selene, goddess of the moon, the only whole thing that still stood. It was here that the guide stopped and directed them inside, but as they turned to enter the ruins, the guide turned and ran off far into the jungle. "Damn!! Now how are we supposed to get back to the village?" Mamoru asked, very upset. "You forget, Mamo-chan, that I have extra senses. I will get us back." Usagi said, smiling at him. She closed her eyes for a moment, and concentrating breifly, tuned into her vampire powers. Where her blond hair and blue eyes had once been, now stood silver hair with a single blue streak mixed into it, and icy silver-blue eyes. Her entire appearance took on an exotic ferocity. "Ready to go?" She asked, her voice lowered slightly. "Yeah, lets go." Mamoru said, getting a flash light from out of his backpack. With Usagi leading the way, the two made their way into the ruins. They walked through what seemed to be two gateways, and then entered the main building. Mamoru switched on his flashlight as they entered the dark edifice, looking fixedly at the walls. Every inch of the walls was covered in beautiful pictures and lovely writing. Usagi, not needing a flashlight, went up to a section of the wall and began reading aloud. "And the goddess most high will carry her beloved up into the heavens with her, and he shall be known as her consort. For every year that they live in peace, so shall we, but if they be disturbed or separated, may she show mercy unto us." "You can read that, Usako?" "Yeah, cant you? This is remedial lunari, I thought everyone could read this." "I never was taught Lunari, so I cant read it. What else does it say?" "It says, ?The goddess most high has selected her consort and will allow him asention in three days. Our fate as a living people depends on this man, may our prayers go with him." Usagi moved down the wall a little bit, and began reading again. "We have been lost, and I, the last one of my people have been left to bear witness to the death of our nation. For the generations to come, may you never stumble opon this accursed place. We will be watching you, for all who enter here are doomed." "Does it say anything about the crystal?" "Hang on a minute. Yeah, right here. ?The eye of the goddess has been foolishly touched and tainted, and will be the downfall of us all. Selene has deserted us, as we deserved. I, Hyshet, have placed the eye in its proper place at the center of the temple as a means of placating Selene, but deep down, I know we are lost." " The text is gone from this area, I cant read anymore of it." "Lets move on,Usako. Maybe we can find the crystal a little further down." Mamoru and Usagi started to walk further into the tunnel, when suddenly they came upon an open courtyard. Everything was covered in lush vegitation, and bloomed in bright colors. In the center of the courtyard there stood a pedistal. Making a motion for Mamoru to stay still, she slowly walked over to the pedistal. When she came upon it, she noticed that it was a plain, circular slab with only a cresent moon to serve as a decoration. In the center of the cresent moon were five slots, four in a circle, and one in the middle, about the size of each crystal Usagi carried, and one slot was filled already. It contained a circular emerald crystal. Getting an idea, Usagi took out the pouch she kept the crystals in, and poured them into her hand. She took Rei?s ruby and placed it next to the emerald, the sapphire next to that, and the amber next to that, until all the slots but the middle one were filled. As she placed the last crystal in place, they began to glow brightly as if a light was being shone through them. In a flash of blinding white light, a beautiful silvery crystal appeared in the center slot, and glowed with a light of its own. The crystal held Usagi mesmerized in its light, and her hand started to reach for the crystal unknowingly. "Usako! What are you doing? Usako!" Mamoru called out, trying to run to her, but finding himself unable to. Usagi?s hand inched closer and closer to the silver crystal, until finally she grabbed it from the pedistal. With the other hand, she grabbed the others as well, and then fainted. Mamoru, finally able to move, ran to her unconsious form, and picked her up in his arms. ~ We need to get out of here, but since she cant lead us out, I guess I?m gonna have to. Usako...hang on. ~ Mamoru set her down, and then stood up straight, closing his eyes. His features began to morph into a parody of what they had originally been. His Midnight black hair became midnight blue, and his eyes went from the normal deep blue to a disturbing golden color. His overall physique became stronger and more defined as he made the change. ~ I hoped never to become what I once was, but seems as if it cant be helped. Usako......I should have told you sooner. ~ He picked her up into his arms and began to run toward the village at an alarming speed. ************************************************************************ As he approched the village, he lept up into the middle of it. Amid the startled screams and scurrying villagers, he made his way toward Makoto?s hut, and rushed inside. "Makoto! What the hell was that out there?!" Mamoru screamed, startling Makoto. "Come, lay her down on my bed, and we will discuss this matter further." "I?d rather not, if you dont mind. I would rather have her safe with me, than in danger here." "Suit yourself. Now, I assume you got the crystal, correct?" "Yeah, Usako got your crystal, and another one beside." "Another one?!? What color was it?" "Silver, why?" "The prophesy is coming true..........Usagi is in danger........." "What are you going on about, Makoto? What prophesy? What danger?" "She must complete her mission, for if she doesnt, we are all doomed." Mamoru grabbed her by the arm, shaking her. "What are you talking about? Explain yourself!" "Usagi?s fate lies within her ability to perform her destiny. She must kill her mother and take her rightful place." "What is her rightful place?" "Usagi will rule where her mother once did, turning all into peace and the death that plagued us will die out." Mamoru looked down at the sleeping girl....no woman in his arms. ~ She will one day rule in her mother?s place? My Usako, how hard a burden you carry...... ~ "And what does her mother rule, exactly?" "The matriarch rules all that falls under the night, but Usagi would rule night and day, seeing as she is both. She would become queen of all she could see." "Over everything?" "Everything." "Does she know this? Does she know that she will rule over all after her mother?s death?" "I suspect that selene is telling her this as we speak." ************************************************************************ * Usagi?s dream * ************************************************************************ Usagi stood in a bright and cheery garden full of roses and irises. She wore a strange but beautiful white dress that clung to her figure in the right places. She walked gracefully over to a bright red rose bush, and picked the largest rosebud. Holding it up delicatly to her nose, she inhaled the rich scent. "Are you enjoying yourself, Usagi?" A voice behind her said. Startled, Usagi spun around, dropping the rose in the process. "Who.....who are you?" "I am the goddess of the moon, you may call me Selene. I have waited a long time for you, Usagi. Come, it is time that you learned some things." Selene led her to a stone bench, and preceded to tell her all that would happen. "So you mean that I will rule over all of earth?" "Yes, you will. You will bring about the era of peace that earth desperatly needs, and only you can do it." "But why me? I am just an ordinary girl, with a few extra skills, how can I possibly manage to rule earth?" "My crystal will aid you in your task. My child, you will know when the time arrives, have faith." "Selene, can I ask you something?" "Yes, child, you may ask me anything." "Can you tell me what Mamoru truly is? I feel as if I only know part of his story, and I need to know the rest." "That, my child, is something only he can answer for you. I am sorry that I cannot." "I understand, Selene. Thankyou." Selene smiled at Usagi, and taking her hands in her own, whispered to her: "I think you should wake up now." ************************************************************************ Usagi slowly woke up, still cradled in Mamoru?s arms. She moved slightly, causing him to look down at her. "How are you feeling, Usako?" "Better, thank you. Where are we?" "Our hut at the village." "Oh, ok. Mamoru, can I ask you something?" "Of course, Usako. What is it?" "What are you?" Mamoru looked at her wide eyed. He sighed, and took a deep breath. "Well, I......................" ************************************************************************ How was that for a clifhanger, eh? hee hee, well as always, send anything you want to Nikita1041@aol.com. ^_- Danielle
