drgonwynd@aol.com (Drgonwynd) Nexus Chapter 5 "He's what?" Rei asked. "He said he's supposed to be dead. From what I could piece together, apparently he was in a plane accident, and he was one of the very few survivors," Ami stated. "When was this?" Minako asked. "10 years ago, according to him." Usagi, Ami, Rei, Minako, and Makoto were all in Usagi's room. Usagi had some trouble with their friend's injuries, and they came over to help her out. Ami wanted to change the subject from death, as the conversation quickly shifted to, so she told had them what happened that morning. "Well, how was he related to you back then? How old is he?" Makoto asked, who seemed interested in the fact that an old friend came back for her. "I don't know, maybe a friend, he seems 20." "I didn't know you had a friend back then," Rei said. "Me neither," Ami shot back, putting her head on her knees, and they didn't question her further. Ami sat there for a short while before speaking, "Sorry, I'm just tired. My mom was talking about things I couldn't even remember. Saying things like him teaching me how to read, to learn, and all of that. She even said I would be found at his house late at night wanting to spend the night. I couldn't remember any of it." "You can't remember anything? What about that girl?" Rei questioned. "No idea, she remembers me though. She ran up to me and hugged me before I could do anything. I feel like I'm supposed to know them, but I just don't. Does that seem a little crazy?" "Actually you sound pretty normal," Usagi interrupted, "I felt the same way about Mamoru. You just want to know them, and you feel you should, but you don't. Is that what it feels like...if I made any sense?" Ami nodded, that's exactly what it felt like. And it wasn't like she wanted a normal friend. The mere presence of that man had brought out a slight longing that she felt reach into her very being. Clearly, every part of her, besides her memory, could remember him. "Rei? How do you get to know a man?" she asked suddenly, which took Rei by surprise. "Ami? Are you okay? You've never asked anything like that before..." Rei responded. "It's all right, I just want to know how to talk to him, so nothing terrible might happen." "Well, nothing works on every man, I mean it's not that easy," she said, and she was right. She had no idea what this person liked or anything else about him. And now her friend was asking... "Rei?" Someone was talking to her... "Rei?" "Huh? What?" "Are you daydreaming?" Minako asked. "What? No, I was...just..thinking...yeah." The phone rang and Usagi got up to answer it, "Hello? Oh, Hi Mamo-chan!! Yes? What? Yeah, sure, I could meet you... Where? Okay fine. See you then." "Is he taking you to lunch or something?" Makoto asked. "Yeah, right after he finishes some work at the museum. * * * * * * * * * * Outside of that same particular museum, a woman stood outside of a car and was silently talking to a man in the driver's seat. They conversed for several minutes before she shook hands with the man, and handed him a thick envelope. The man looked at his watch, then drove away. She looked around and quickly walked towards an alley. "Liana?" a metallic voice spoke from the pitch-black alley. "Victor...what are you doing here?" "Just checking on my little sister...what'd you do?" "Since you'll find out from Trevor anyways, I might as well tell you," she responded casually. "That's true..." the voice interjected, she could almost feel her brother's hard grin. "I paid that driver to run down Mamoru. I told him to look for someone that was wearing a brown jacket and sunglasses, like he usually wears. He can't miss, and since he won't live through the accident, hehe, we have nothing to worry about," she explained. A gray arm, seemingly covered in metal, protruded from the darkness. The hand had long blades right below the knuckles that extended for about a foot. The entire arm seemed to be made out of metal. "That's good, because if the driver lives, it'll be on your head if we're found out..." The arm, as well as the creature's entire body, slowly faded from view, until there was nothing left of him.
