A Moment in Time: Part 4 (by, DS)


Sorry this took so long to get out.  It takes place not long after 
Prediction of Doom.

     Alone.  The word echoes through my heart as I stare out over the temple 
grounds.  I'm alone.  I sigh and turn back toward the door.  Things were 
quiet; far too quiet.  I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes as I 
think about what, or rather, who I had almost lost.  I almost lost her.  I 
watched helplessly as she fell into that unnatural sleep.  I couldn't help 
her.  I was useless.  I couldn't save the one who had showed me what love 
was.  The one who time and again had put herself in danger for us.  We had 
fought earlier like we always do and the one thing that ran through my mind 
was the fact that the last thing I said to her was an insult.  As I watched 
her slowly dying, I would never have the chance to tell her how much I 
cared.  She was like the sister I alwas wanted but never had.

      Suddenly, I find myself smiling.  I had another chance.  Darien had 
come and saved her.  I had once hated him for leaving me, but seeing them 
together felt so right.  I walk into my room, still brushing away my tears 
as my eyes fall on a picture of all of us together.  I laugh.  She had 
tripped in her hurry to get in the perfect spot for the picture.  I dry my 
face and get ready.  They would be here soon.  I could still tell her.  I 
wasn't alone.
