Don't sue me, I'm just a wanna-be author *g* Now ONTO THE STORY! *g* ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Mamo-chan!" Usagi yelled as she caught site of him down the street. Mamoru stopped and turned around, then smiled as he recognized Usagi. "Hey, odango atama." Usagi smiled, it was so good to be back together after the Wiseman had tried to keep them apart. "Aren't you glad this is all over?" Usagi said, and fell into Mamoru's arms. "I sure am. It's just surprising that even though we couldn't have been in the future for more than an hour, we were really gone for more than five years!" Usagi giggled, "That's Setsuna-sama for you. Even though she doesn't have any control over that kind of thing." Mamoru smiled down at Usagi. 'You just wait until tonight, Usako. You'll find out the real reason she decided to do it that way.' "Usagi-chan! Mamoru-kun!" Makoto raced down the street dodging shoppers and joggers. "Isn't it great to be back?" Makoto asked, breathlessly, when she reached the two. "Sure is." Usagi said, "I'm still a little tired after being gone for such weird times." Usagi yawned, "I've got to get home and get some sleep. Do you think mom will recognize me?" Mamoru stared at Usagi, "I'm not sure. I barely recognized you until your hat flew off!" Makoto giggled, "Well, I'll see you guys later. I've got to go find Rei-chan. She's going to do a fire reading for me on what happened with Ken while I was gone!" Makoto raced down the street with a quick "'Later!" "Usako, meet me tonight at the Crystal Palace." Mamoru said. Although the Crystal Palace was now a fancy restaurant, both Mamoru and Usagi knew that in less than a year, it would be the center of Crystal Tokyo. "Ok... see you tonight!" Usagi started walking home, but stopped in her tracks, "I won't fit into anything anymore!" She exclaimed, suddenly. She checked her pockets, and was surprised to find she actually had money. "Wow... thanks, Setsuna-chan!" Usagi whispered and raced down the street to the mall. "But first, I need to get a dress for tonight!" Usagi squealed as she passed by a formal shop. "I've got to see what they have in here!" Usagi dashed into the store and immediately found what she was looking for. "Wow..." she breathed as she gently took it off of the rack. It was soft ivory silk with a soft purple lace bow on the ivory gloves. "Would you like to try that on, Miss?" A sales clerk asked, politely. Usagi considered trying that one on for a moment, then shook her head. "I'd like to look around a little bit more." The woman smiled, "Take your time!" She said, and went back behind the counter. This is going to be so much fun! Usagi thought as she checked the money in her pocket again. 'I have enough for twenty!' Usagi giggled in delight and went around checking more racks. She found two more that she liked within an hour and went to try them on. She tried the first one on that she had found, and gasped at her appearance. She hadn't looked in a mirror since she had gotten back and was surprised to see how much taller she had gotten. "That looks lovely on you!" The salesclerk exclaimed, "What do you need the fancy dress for?" There was a twinkle in the sales clerks eye. "Oh... a special dinner tonight at The Crystal Palace." The clerk gasped, "The Crystal Palace? Very romantic, I hear." Usagi grinned and went back to try on the other two dresses. The second one was a dark maroon velvet dress with a flared knee-length skirt and a fitted bodice with capped sleeves. "That goes very well with your hair and eyes." The sales-clerked advised, with a critical eye. "What's your name, dear?" She asked. "Usagi," Usagi replied, "What's yours?" The woman grinned, "Seion. Quite close in meaning, don't you say?" Usagi stared at Seion, "Yes... very close..." Usagi went back into the dressing rooms to try on the last one; a black velvet dress with a slightly flared ankle-length skirt with silver and white designs embroidered on the front and no sleeves. "Lovely!" Seion exclaimed, Usagi thought she saw tears in the old woman's eyes. "Yes... they are all nice..." Usagi trailed off, "I can't seem to decide which one to buy!" Seion looked thoughtful for a moment. "Well, there is a private sale going on right now... If you buy two dresses you get the third free." Usagi stared at Seion, "What do you mean by a private sale?" She asked. "It means, that unless the person has found three or more items that she likes, they don't find out about the sale." Usagi nodded, thoughtfully. "Well... how much would these three come to on that sale?" Seion went back to the cash register and quickly rung up the prices, "Three hundred ninety-four dollars and thirty-four cents." Usagi pulled her billfold out of her purse and brought out her checkbook. She checked her log and found that she had more than plenty to cover the dresses. 'Did Setsuna know about this?' Usagi thought, slowly. "Do you take checks?" Usagi asked and set her checkbook and purse on the counter. Seion nodded, and stared in wonder at Usagi. "You've grown so much, Usagi-chan." She whispered, and Usagi looked up in surprise. "What?" She asked, sharply. Seion quickly smiled, "Nothing. You just remind me of my god-daughter. The only thing different is the hair. Hers are ovals, not circles." Usagi nodded warily and handed over the check. "Thankyou, Seion-san." Seion smiled, "Anytime, dear. If you ever get married, be sure to come back! We have a fairly large collection of wedding dresses I'm sure you would love. And please, call me Sei-chan." Usagi stepped out of the store and glanced at the bag holding the three dresses. "I should get some shoes and accessories to go with these." She said, and scanned the line of shops for a shoe store. "There!" Usagi exclaimed as she spotted one on the other side of the street. She went down to the cross-walk and crossed with the light. "Usagi-chan!" Usagi turned around on the sidewalk and waited while Minako ran up to her, Luna and Artemis running behind her. "Usagi-chan, what's in that bag?" Minako asked, curiously. "Just some dresses... Mamo-chan's taking me out tonight." Luna gazed up at Usagi, "And just how did you pay for them, may I ask?" "If I know Setsuna-chan, she knew about this. I have plenty of money." Usagi said, then scooped Luna up on her shoulder. "I need to talk to you when we get back to the house, Luna. There was a strange woman in the dress store, I believe she said her name was Seion." Luna nodded and hopped down, then raced down the street towards Usagi's house. "I was just going to go get some shoes and accessories to go with these dresses. You want to come along, Minako-chan?" Usagi asked. Minako smiled, "Sure. Setsuna-sama gave me plenty of money as well." The two ran down the street to the shoe store and when they entered, they gasped when they saw Rei behind the counter. "Rei-chan!" Usagi exclaimed. "Hey, you guys! Guess what, I bought this shoe store!" Minako laughed, "Why doesn't that surprise me? Setsuna-sama has given both me and Usagi-chan a ton of money. Usagi-chan just spent over three hundred dollars on a few dresses... and that was on a buy two get one free sale!" Usagi glared at Minako, but luckily, there were no other customers in the store. "So let me guess, you're in here to find some shoes to go with them?" Rei asked and Usagi nodded. "Let's see the dresses. I should be able to find something that will go perfectly with all three of them." Usagi set the bag down on the floor and pulled out the ivory dress. Rei studied it for a moment, then disappeared into a backroom. She appeared a moment later holding a pair of ivory sandals with lavender stones on the front. "They're amethysts." Rei said. Usagi slipped them on. "They're so comfortable!" Usagi squealed, "This will be perfect if I can just find a pair of amethyst earrings and maybe a silver necklace!" Rei grinned and set them to the side, "Let's see the next dress." Usagi pulled out the black and white one. Once again, Rei disappeared into the back room and came out a few moments later holding a pair of shoes. This pair was plain black velvet with a 1" heel with a ½" platform. "Wonderful!" Usagi exclaimed and Rei put them with the ivory ones. "And for the last dress...?" Usagi pulled out the dark maroon dress and Rei studied it carefully for a long time. "This one is hard!" Rei finally exclaimed, and plopped down on a bench. "Usagi-chan, go into the back room and put it on. Maybe that'll help me figure out a good pair of shoes to go with it." Usagi scooped up her bag and slipped into the back room and changed. When she came back out, there were still no customers, but there was no Minako either. "Where'd Minako-chan go?" Usagi asked Rei. "She needed to get back home. Her parents knew she had come back and were waiting for her, so she left." Usagi nodded and waited as Rei considered her options. "I've got it!" She finally announced and dashed back into the back room. She finally re-appeared with a pair of delicate-looking silver sandals and a silver handbag. "Perfect!" Usagi said, slipping them on her feet and the handbags strap over her shoulders. "Great! Let me just ring these up for you while you go change back into your regular clothes." While Usagi changed, she was thinking. 'This is all too weird. Something's going to happen, I can feel it... but what?' "Are you almost done back there, Usagi-chan?" Rei yelled, "I've got some more customers that I need to take care of!" Usagi quickly folded the maroon dress and put it back in the bag, and left the room. "Sorry..." Usagi grinned at the couple who were in the store. 'They look so familiar!' Usagi thought, glancing at them. "Ok, Usagi-chan, for those three it's sixty-five dollars and eighty-nine cents." Usagi absentmindedly pulled a 100 dollar bill out of her billfold and handed it to Rei. "Thirty-four eleven is your change. See you later, Usagi-chan!" Rei said and handed her the bag. "Did you remember the bag with your dresses in it, Usagi-chan?" Usagi held up the bag, "Sure did. See you, Rei-chan!" Usagi walked out of the store and glanced down the street. "I wonder if Molly's mom still has that great jewelry store?" She wondered out loud, and started walking in that direction. "Well, I might as well find out!" Usagi said, confidently, and started down the street. When she arrived at where the jewelry store used to be, Usagi was appalled to see nothing but a pile of ashes. She had stood there for about five minutes when she heard a voice behind her. "Usagi-sama?" Usagi spun around and gaped at Molly, "Usagi-chan, is that you?" She asked, tears filling her eyes. "Molly?" Usagi whispered, "Molly, what happened? You look horrible!" Molly burst into tears, "Oh, Usagi-chan! Mom's dead!" Usagi recoiled at the news. "What?" She asked, surprised. "What happened? How did it happen?" Molly looked at Usagi, still with tears in her eyes. "I don't know, really. It was weird." "Wait..." Usagi said, 'Oh, please don't let that blast from the FUTURE have destroyed this great place!' Usagi thought, "Did this happen to happen about three years ago?" Molly nodded, miserably. Usagi gasped, 'It was that then! That stupid Wiseman destroyed Molly's life!' FLASHBACK "And as for your little friend, Sailor Moon, see how she'll handle this!" Rubeus threw a blast of fire at the nearly-crystallized jewelry store that had once held one of the finest collections of jewelry around. Usagi watched in horror as the building slowly tumbled to the ground and burst into flames. Even though she knew that Molly and her mom weren't there, Usagi thought she saw Molly's mom get crushed in the debris. 'Please don't let this affect the past!' Usagi silently screamed at Setsuna, and turned to Rubeus, but was surprised to see the shapeless form of the Wiseman instead. "You... you BAKA!" Usagi yelled, "You'll pay for that!" She yelled and brought out her moon scepter. "Moon... Scepter... ELIMINATION!" Usagi pointed the beam of energy at the Wiseman, but it simply passed right through him and added to the destruction on the store. "You can't kill me, Sailor Moon. You never can and you never will! Crystal Tokyo is mine!" Usagi seethed and clenched her fist around the scepter, and it suddenly turned into the Crescent Moon Wand with the Imperium Silver Crystal in its head. "I may not be able to kill you, Wiseman, but I can banish you! I call upon the powers of the Imperium Silver Crystal to ban this monster from this universe. Forever!" Usagi yelled, and then, there was nothing. END FLASHBACK "Oh, Molly! I'm so sorry!" Usagi exclaimed. "I've opened my own jewelry shop with the insurance money we got, and the death benefits and all that, but it's not the same with mother around." Usagi nodded, "I know how you feel..." She said, softly, thinking of her own real mother, former Queen Serenity of the moon. "Listen, I've got a date with Mamoru tonight and I need some jewelry and stuff. Can you help me out there?" Usagi asked, slowly. Molly's eyes brightened up, "Can I help you? Of course I can help you! Come on!" Molly dashed down the street and Usagi raced after her. "Let's see what you have so far!" Molly exclaimed as she breezed into her shop. "Ekishouko-chan, take the afternoon off. I've got some work to do here!" Ekishouko glanced at Usagi, then left, quickly. Usagi first pulled out the ivory dress and shoes. "Hmm... I've got an silver and Amethyst pendant necklace and a pair of teardrop Amethyst earrings that would go great with that!" Molly produced the items she had just listed. "And if you need it, I have a silver and amethyst matching bracelet as well." Usagi tried to imagine herself with all that jewelry. "No... that's fine. I think I'll just go with the earrings and the necklace." "How about something to go around those balls on your head?" Molly asked and produced a pair of light purple and silver lace bands. "Sure." Usagi said, and Molly set them aside. "Now do you have any more?" Usagi grinned, "Do I ever!" She said, "I've got two more!" She exclaimed and pulled out the maroon dress, and the silver shoes and handbag. "Hmm... fire opals would go good with that. I've got a set here that look like a claw is holding them." Molly produced a pair of earrings with fire opal balls behind held onto by silver 'claws' and a matching ring. "That looks good." Usagi said. "I also have some fire opal plates you could put in your hair." Molly giggled, "Like shields!" "No thanks, Molly. I think I'll stick with the ring and earrings." Molly nodded and added them to the already decided purchases. "And the last one, is black and white." Usagi said, pulling out the final dress and the black shoes. "Hmm... a toughie. I like that; a challenge!" Molly sat down next to Usagi while she thought about what she could tell Usagi would go best with that outfit. "Diamonds? No, too common... Apache gold? Too gold..." Molly sighed, "How about Amber, Usagi-chan? Usagi-chan?" Usagi had gotten up from her position on the bench and had gone to look at a display of Onyx. "Oh, Molly! It's perfect!" Usagi said, and gently fingered the Onyx and white gold earring, necklace, and bracelet set. "Usagi-chan! That costs more than a thousand dollars apiece! Can you even afford it?" Usagi nodded and smiled, "A friend of mine won the lottery and gave me the money." Molly's eyes widened, "Rakki-Usagi!" She said and turned to a door in the side of the room. "Wait here. I've got something for you." While Molly searched around in the storage room, Usagi gazed dreamily at the black-as-night Onyx carvings. She caught site of an onyx and diamond pendant off to the side. "Here ya go, Usagi-chan! Specially made, just for you!" Usagi wasn't paying attention. She was drawn to the crescent moon and star shaped pendant. "Usagi-chan, what did you find?" "This pendant... it's beautiful. I'll take this as well." She said and stood up. She noticed the crystal jewelry box in Molly's hands. "Molly! Where'd you get that?" Usagi asked, softly. "I had it specially made for you when you moved. But you moved before I had a chance to give it to you!" Usagi slowly walked over and took the box from Molly's hands. "It's migoto!" She said, and set it on the counter. "Listen... I need to go so if you could just ring this stuff up?" Molly nodded, "Sure thing!" She said and hurried to the counter. "Bring that jewelry box over here, will ya, Usagi-chan?" Usagi took the jewelry box over to Molly and she wrapped it in tissue paper and set it in a box amidst more tissue paper. "Can't be too careful, can we?" Molly asked as she taped the box closed. "Here's the jewelry." Molly said and handed Usagi the three velvet boxes containing the three sets of items. "That comes to..." She rang the purchases up on the cash register, "Five thousand five hundred ninety-seven dollars and eighty-six cents. Cash, check, or credit card?" Usagi pulled out her checkbook again, "Check." She said and wrote out the amount. "Arigato, Molly. See you around!" Usagi gingerly picked up the bag containing her jewelry purchases, the bag with the shoes in it, and the bag with the dresses and her purse in it, and walked out of the store. She checked her watch. "Four-thirty?" Usagi exclaimed, when she saw the time, "I've got to get home and get ready!" Usagi exclaimed and dashed down the street towards her house. "Mom! Dad! I'm back!" Usagi yelled and ran into the living room where she knew her parents would be sitting. She set her bags on the floor and raced over to give her mom and dad a hug. "Usagi-chan! When did you get back?" Her dad asked, surprised. "About noon. I've been shopping! Sorry I didn't pick anything up for you guys but I have a date with Mamo-chan tonight!" Usagi grabbed her bags again and dashed upstairs. "I'll be getting an apartment here in a few days! I hope you don't mind my crashing here until I can find one!" Usagi yelled down the stairs and then slammed the door to her room shut. "Still the same." Usagi said, softly, and turned to her bathroom. "Ok, let's get this done!" Usagi said, and flung the door of her bathroom open. Usagi quickly turned on the water in her shower and scrubbed her face while it was getting adjusted. "Jeez, I've sure got a lot of gunk on my face!" She said, staring at her wash-cloth. "Shower-time!" Usagi exclaimed to herself and stepped gingerly into the shower after making sure she had towels and more wash-clothes handy. Usagi quickly cleaned up the rest of herself before attacking her hair. She grabbed her shampoo bottle and dumped a few globs of it on her hair and scrubbed it in roughly. She did this about ten times with rinsing in-between before her hair actually felt clean. When she stepped out of the shower and got her towel wrapped around her and her hair dried and brushed, she glanced at the clock. "Six already? Ah! Mama!" Usagi yelled. "Usagi-chan, what is it?" Usagi sat on her bed and her mom came into the room. "I have to be at The Crystal Palace at six-forty-five! Can you do my hair, please?" Usagi begged and her mom laughed. "Sure, Usagi-chan." She sat on the bed behind her and quickly blow-dried and curled the ends of her hair, then began twisting her hair into her traditional style. "Did you have a nice time with your friends in America?" She asked, Usagi nodded but her head was stuck by her mothers hands. "Yup! We sure did. Hardly seems we spent any time there at all, though." Usagi said, remembering the hardly fifteen minutes of the battle they had spent in the states. "Finished!" Usagi's mom said and stood up to admire her work. "What were you going to wear?" Usagi pointed to the bags on the floor. "I can't choose!" Usagi complained and her mom laughed. "I'll help." She said and went over to the bags. Usagi wrapped a robe around herself and laid out the items that went with their specific dresses. "All wonderful dresses... do you know what's going on tonight?" Her mom asked. Usagi shrugged, "Nope. Mamoru-chan just said to meet him at the Crystal Palace at six forty-five!" Usagi's mom nodded. "Wear the black one." She said, and left the room. "Ok, mom." Usagi muttered and quickly got changed. When she had her dress on, she quickly re-positioned her hair-balls and put her earrings, necklace, and bracelet on. "Should I wear the pendant?" Usagi wondered out-loud to herself. 'Wear the pendant. You've had a wonderful victory and that's your sign!' A voice inside Usagi said. "I'm wearing the pendant!" Usagi confirmed to herself and fastened it to one of the 1" straps that served to hold up the dress. "Usagi! You'd better get going, it's six-thirty!" Usagi checked her own watch and gasped, she hadn't even put on her make up yet! "Just a minute, mom!" Usagi yelled down and ran to her mirror. She did a quick application of blush, mascara, eye shadow, and eyeliner over her foundation, and quickly put on a frosty red lipstick. "Ready." She said to herself and quickly descended the stairs, grabbing her purse. "Bye mom! Bye dad!" She yelled as she headed out the door to her car. "Bye, Usagi! Have fun!" Her dad yelled after her. 'He sure has changed a lot!' Usagi thought as she slid into her jeep. She started the engine and drove quickly, but carefully, through the Tokyo streets to the Crystal Palace. She saw with dismay that Mamoru's car was already there. She quickly got out of her car with her purse over her shoulder and shut the door. She hurried into the restaurant and was stopped by the waiter. "What party are you with?" Usagi stopped, Mamoru had not told her. "Umm... I don't know... Mamoru-chan didn't tell me!" Usagi complained. "Mamoru?" The waiter asked, sharply. Usagi nodded meekly, "This way." The waiter said and led her to a small table in a far corner over-looking an artificial lake. "Usako!" Mamoru exclaimed when he saw her. "You look wonderful!" He said, and smiled. Usagi blushed and looked down. The waiter pulled out Usagi's chair and she sat down next to Mamoru, facing the lake. "I hope you don't mind that I ordered ahead." Mamoru said, as they got settled. "Not at all." Usagi replied and set her purse down by her feet. The waiter hurried away and left the couple alone. "Why did you decide to come to such a fancy restaurant for dinner, Mamo-chan?" Usagi asked. Mamoru smiled, "For one reason, we are going to be living here some day." Usagi nodded, remembering, "And for another thing, this is a celebratory dinner." Usagi looked up at Mamoru, confused, "Celebratory?" She asked. "Yes, celebratory! You defeated the Wiseman, Usako! He won't be causing us any more trouble!" Usagi smiled, "I did, didn't I?" She said, softly. "And for that, I got you this." Mamoru pulled a long velvet box out of his coat pocket. Usagi took the box from him and opened it, then gasped at what she saw. "That stone in the middle is a white precious opal. Those others are Iolites." Usagi gently lifted the bracelet from the box and Mamoru fastened it around the same wrist as the onyx bracelet. "That's a very nice pendant you have, Usagi-chan." He said, noticing the diamond and onyx brooch. "Yeah..." She said, softly. "Fettuccini Alfredo and white wine." The waiter said, setting two plates of the entree in front of them with a wine cooler by Mamoru's chair. "I will come back when you are finished to take your dessert order." The waiter retreated back to the front of the restaurant after a final glance at Mamoru and Usagi and went back to work. Usagi and Mamoru ate in silence until Usagi finally pushed back her plate. "I'm full." She said, simply, and took a sip of her wine. "Me too." Mamoru said, and leaned back, gazing at Usagi. "You've never looked more beautiful, Usa-chan. Did you know that?" Mamoru said, suddenly. Surprised, Usagi's head shot up and she banged it on the back of her chair. "Ouch!" She cried, and rubbed the sore spot. "No, I didn't, Mamo-chan. But thanks for saying so." She said, glancing at him. Mamoru was having a hard time not laughing, and Usagi knew it. "Oh go ahead, laugh all you want! It's no different than before we met." This made both Usagi and Mamoru laugh. "I'm sorry." Mamoru finally said. "It's amazing how much we changed during that battle..." Mamoru sighed, "Setsuna-chan told me that she'll make you look like a teenager again so you can go back to Junior High without having any problems." Usagi smiled, "Gee, thanks for confirming that for me, Mamoru-kun." She said, grinning. She then turned her attention to the lake again. Mamoru's gaze kept wandering over to her as she sat there, concentrating on something in the distance. He found himself daydreaming about the day they would be married. She would be wearing a long white dress, like the ones she wore before Queen Beryl attacked, and he would wear his uniform from the days of the Silver Millennium. 'And we'll be together, forever' Mamoru thought, sighing. "Did you ever think it would be possible for us to be doing this? I mean, being back together, and so close to being engaged and everything..." Mamoru was caught off guard at her sudden words and almost fell backwards in his chair. "I don't know, Usagi-chan." Mamoru said and turned to face her and stood up. "Are we leaving?" Usagi asked, and reached down for her purse. "I hope not yet." Mamoru said, reaching into his pants pocket, "We still have to get dessert." Usagi watched as Mamoru kneeled down beside her. "Mamo-chan, what are you doing?" Usagi whispered. "What does it look like I'm doing?" Mamoru asked as he pulled out the velvet box containing the ring. "Usa-chan," He said, staring up at her, "will you marry me?" He asked, opening the box to display the ring. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh! A cliffie! Hehehe what will Usagi say? And just what is impossible?
