Fanfic Title: A Sailor Moon Reality Author: Angel E-mail: as390@torfree.net Episode 1: Musical Danger Lisa Starr let out a sigh of dismay and frustration. It was 2:00 p.m, last period music class. The class of her nightmares, though she didn't intend for it to be that way. She clutched her flute tightly between her hands; watching was Mr. Newman, the music teacher, shook his head yet again. "Lisa, you're playing an A, not an A flat," Mr. Newman pointed out. "And what's with all that squeaking?" "It's not my fault!" Lisa protested. "Then who's fault is it?" Mr. Newman looked extremely frustrated. He turned back to the class. "Okay, everyone, back to the beginning." Everyone groaned. "Nice going, Lisa," Thomas Holt, the tenor sax player, muttered. "What's with you?" Jeff Carter demanded from his place behind the baritone. The shy girl said nothing to her defence. She just hung her head, her face as red as a tomato, wishing she'd never signed up for this class. Lisa had played the flute for over 5 years now. However, those years weren't necessarily productive. Sure, she knew all the notes and finger positions, but when it comes to playing with tone and clarity, well, she was at a loss. Lisa was planning on dropping the Instrumental Music course after Grade 9, but her mother, a music fanatic, pushed her to go on, and now here she is, stuck in 10A music. Mr. Newman gestured everyone to raise their instruments and try again. Lisa did so, putting the flute to her lips and taking a deep breath. The class started to play. Lisa continued to struggle with the high, screeching notes and the difficult phrasing of the piece that they were playing, until, finally, she hit an high G flat with a screech, which sent Mr. Newman to a halt. "Lisa, I want you to take your music to the practice room for now," Mr. Newman said with a sigh. "This isn't going very well, and I want you to do some work for a change while I work with the rest of the class." Lisa quickly checked her watch. There were only 10 minutes left in the period. She quickly packed her flute and slammed the case shut, her brown eyes smoldering. "I think it's a better idea if I left the class instead." With that, she grabbed her knapsack and ran out of the classroom, crying. Amy-Lynne Noren, Lisa's stand partner, sat up from her seat. "Lisa, wait!" Shawna Lees, the last flute player in the class and Amy-Lynne's best friend, put a hand on her shoulder. "Let her go, Amy-Lynne. You can't do anything to stop her." Mr. Newman sighed and closed his musical score. "I guess there's no point in continuing any further. I have to inform the office of this matter, anyway. Pack up, everyone." "Does Lisa always have to be such a crybaby?" Cory Stanner, a percussionist, commented to his friend Thomas. "I don't know. One thing's for sure, she's going to get into trouble," Thomas replied, packing up his tenor sax. Cory rubbed his hands together. "That will be the day!" Rob Celetti, Cory's percussionist partner, shook his head in amusement. Sometimes, the people in this class could be so strange! Cory turned to Rob. "What do you think?" Rob was a shy person, and didn't talk very much, so really, he didn't have much to say. "Well, it's none of my business, so I'm not going to rat out on Lisa when she comes back." "Well, don't you think she's a crybaby?" Thomas asked him. "She was upset," Rob replied. "I know one of you would be crying too if you've gone through such a terrible experience." He turned away from the two boys and grabbed his knapsack. "Well, I'll see you later, okay?" With that, he sauntered off to meet up with his friends, Don Hanley and Shawn Schaffer, two trombone players. "I don't see why Rob has to say anything to her defence. She has none," Thomas commented. "Well, Rob's been nice to everyone. That's just him," Cory replied. "Lisa doesn't deserve it, though. She cut our class short, and soon, she'll pay for it," Thomas said darkly. "Oh, my poor daughter!" Mrs. Starr exclaimed as she opened the door for Lisa back at home. Lisa phoned her, saying that she wanted to walk home instead of having Mrs. Starr pick her up. However, she never expected her daughter to walk in, all upset and with a tearstained face. "Mom, I hate music class! I can't play a damn note, and everyone's being so mean to me!" Lisa hugged her mom. Apparently, the Cantonese girl was obviously upset. "I don't know what to say to help your pain," Mrs. Starr commented with a sigh. "You're a young, innocent girl, who's not aware that the real world has to be this cruel." "I'm going to quit the class tomorrow," Lisa stated firmly, pulling away from her mother. Mrs. Starr backed away, shocked. "What? Lisa, what are you saying?" "I can't take this anymore. Maybe music isn't for me. I'd be wasting my time if I keep on going on with it," Lisa replied. "But, Lisa, it's already May! You can't get into any class now and expect to catch up!" Mrs. Starr exclaimed. "Then I'll only get 7 credits this year, instead of 8," Lisa said simply. She kissed her shocked mother on the cheek. "See ya later, Mom." She trooped up the stairs and into her room, closing the door behind her. Lisa sighed and dropped her bag onto the floor. She'd never been in such depression in all of her life. Lofting herself onto her bed, she grabbed the remote and turned on the big TV in her room. She smiled. Lisa was in time for Sailor Moon, one of her favorite shows. Today's episode had something to do with Raye and her having to take care of a talent show. Lisa admired Raye in a way. She was her favorite character, because she was beautiful, strong, and loved to take charge. Lisa, being a shy, kind, thoughtful, yet meek girl, looked up to Raye with extreme respect, even though she was just a cartoon character. "Sailor Mars...I want to hear your beautiful voice sing from your heart once more," the Moonlight Knight said softly. Lisa grimaced and clamped her hands over her ears. Music, again! "This is insane!" Her role model had to be talented in music! Her depression, which was hampered at the moment, came back full force, sending her into a tailspin. Lisa collapsed on the bed, her head hitting her pillow. Lisa heard Raye sing "O Starry Night" before she slipped into unconsciousness. Queen Beryl watched the Earth from her spot in the Negaverse. She watched as Lisa fainted upon her bed. A smile appeared on her face. 'This girl, this depressed girl, is actually one of the Chosen Ones? I can't believe it!' After escaping from the dark void of time that Queen Serenity sent her in, Queen Beryl proceeded in finding the 5 Chosen Ones, five girls that now possess the powers of the Sailor Scouts. Queen Beryl never thought that these Earthlings would make a TV show on history that happened so long ago. She didn't like the portrayal of her real voice, and how she was interpreted as a 'twisted snake.' "Well, these Earthlings will get a dose of a Negaverse reality," she sneered. "They'll get it hard, when I return to rule over the Solar System once again!" "Yes, my queen, you will be victorious," a female voice said from in front of her. Queen Beryl raised her head from her crystal ball to see a pretty blond woman, in a dark-green and black sailor uniform. Her long blond hair cascaded down her back in lustrous waves; her blue eyes were stone cold. "Sailor Jade, how nice to see you again," Queen Beryl greeted. Sailor Jade was the sister of one of the Negaverse Generals, Jedite. "You ask what of me, my Queen? I will serve you well," Sailor Jade said with supreme confidence. "I want you to go down to Earth and find the 5 Chosen Ones," Queen Beryl ordered. "The ones that will be the future sailor scouts. Here is one for you now." The crystal ball glowed, and an image appeared in front of Sailor Jade. It was Lisa, still fainted, on her bed. "Who is this little wuss?" Sailor Jade asked. "Her name is Lisa Starr. I sense a great energy coming from her, nearing its fruition. It points to the planet Jupiter. Luna and Artemis would be searching for her now. There is also another girl whose energy is near its peak, pointing to Venus, but with Jupiter's energy radiating, I can't get a good lock on the girl, so she will be no concern to you." Sailor Jade clenched her fist. "Sailor Jupiter. The sailor wimp that destroyed almost all of your army and who killed Jedite." "I want her killed, dead," Queen Beryl stated. "Before Luna and Artemis find her. Also, be careful, and be on the lookout for the girl of Venus. You might be lucky, and able to get 2 birds with one stone." Sailor Jade bowed. "I will do my deed, my queen." With that, she disappeared. Lisa trudged into music class the next day, keeping her head down. She felt many pairs of eyes staring at her. Lisa felt ashamed for what she'd done, but even worse, she couldn't stand to see Mr. Newman's expression. Mr. Newman wasn't pleased, at all, with Lisa. "Look here, Lisa, I want to tell you something," Mr. Newman said sternly. Lisa managed to raise her head and meet Mr. Newman in the eye. "Well, I've got something even more important to tell you. I'm going to..." Before she could continue her sentence, there was a burst of light that brought the classroom door down. Everyone screamed, as many thugs came rushing in, machine guns and other weapons at the ready. "What the hell is going on here?" Mr. Newman demanded. "Shut up!" one of the thugs shot him full in the chest with a stun ray. Mr. Newman toppled onto the ground like a sack of potatoes. Lisa screamed, and the thug pointed the gun at her. "One more noise, and you'll be next," he threatened. Lisa stood still, trying to calm her ragged breathing. The class screamed as the thugs turned their guns on them. Lisa closed her eyes as many of them were shot by bullets, or punched into walls. They weren't mortal wounds, but the blood, everywhere, scared her nearly to death. Lisa turned to the door, where a sailor scout entered, all dressed in green and black. She raised one arm, and many orange orbs of energy surrounded the class. They started groaning and moaning in even more pain with the heat that she was giving them. "So, this is the brilliant Lisa Starr that I've heard so much about," Sailor Jade drawled. "What do you want?" Lisa cried out in fear. "Oh, just your pitious little life," Sailor Jade said, turning her cold eyes on Lisa. "You co-operate, and I'll make your death as easy as possible." "Like I would!" Lisa gave Sailor Jade a kick in the face. She screamed, and fell back. Two thugs grabbed Lisa from behind, and she started to struggle. "Take her to one of the practice rooms and lock her in. Keep her there until I decide what to do with her," Sailor Jade snarled, touching the bruised section of her face. "What should we do with the rest of the wimps?" one of the thugs asked. Sailor Jade gave a wave with her hand. "You can beat up the guys, and rape the girls. I don't care." With that, Sailor Jade disappeared. Lisa struggled with all her might as the two thugs dragged her into the practice room. "Let me go!" They didn't stop, and they threw her to the ground, and shut the door, locking it behind her. Lisa couldn't bear to stand up and look out to see what was going on with the rest of her classmates. All she heard were yells and screams, all of which tormented her to no end. "My classmates are going to die, all because they want me dead," Lisa said to herself. "Why do I always cause people pain?" Lisa let her head and shoulders sag, tears racking her body. Lisa felt something jump onto her lap, and Lisa gasped. It was Luna, Serena's cat, in the flesh! "Luna?" Lisa asked in awe. "Yes, it's me, Lisa. I've come to fulfill your destiny," Luna replied. She did a dainty flip, and a green and gold transformation star wand landed on Lisa's lap. "The Jupiter Star Transformation Wand," Lisa said slowly. "Why are you giving me this?" "Because it is your destiny to be the sailor of the Planet Jupiter. Protector of Faithfulness to the Moon Princess, you are Sailor Jupiter!" Luna looked at Lisa with wide eyes. "You cannot use this wand at the moment, until it starts to glow. It is a signal that your energy is at its peak. Only then will you be able to transform into Sailor Jupiter for the first time. After that, the power is yours at your command." "Sailor Jupiter..." Lisa whispered. "This is too weird." "I admit it is alot to absorb, but you've got to believe in it, and believe in yourself." "Believe in myself..." Lisa looked out the window of the practice room. She could only see a wall of thugs in front of her, but she knew that the rest of the class, including Mr. Newman, were in great danger. She turned to Luna. "I have to get out of here, and save the rest of them. Believe it or not, some of them are my friends, and I can't let them suffer." "You've got to understand that you can't transform into Sailor Jupiter at the moment. It's too dangerous!" Luna warned. "Sailor Jade can still kill you in your fragile state, and the powers of Jupiter would be lost forever!" "Luna, you don't understand! Those people out there are helpless. I'm not going to stand by and watch them..." Lisa couldn't finish her sentence, choking back on an emotional sob. Luna nodded. "I get what you're trying to tell me. You definitely have the faithful heart of Jupiter, Lisa. I'll be with you when you help them. I've sent for Artemis to go look for your sister, Sailor Venus. They'll be here to assist you." Lisa was taken aback. 'My sister, Sarah, Sailor Venus? Wow!' However, she got herself together and nodded. "I hope they come soon." A surge of energy rushed at her as Lisa turned to the door. Closing her eyes, Lisa lashed out a leg and smashed the door down in an effective kick which crushed two of the thugs that stood by there, guarding it. The other thugs, about 5 or 6 of them, were stunned. "Take this, you slimy flounders!" Lisa leapt into the air, energized by the power of Jupiter, and landed a leg right on one of the guy's heads. He went down quickly. Another leapt at her, but she thrust a fist into the guy's stomach, and, screaming, he went flying into a pile of chairs. Luna dashed upwards and started scratching at another thug's face. He screamed, and soon, was left in a bloody heap. Luna could be very vicious when she wanted to be. The two thugs remaining raised their weapons. Lisa was stunned for a second. Thug #1 laughed, cocking his gun. "You know you can't stop these, baby." "Why don't you settle down, and we'll have a good time, won't we?" Thug #2 laughed. He was a major pervert. That phrase angered her. "Idiot!" Doing an effective roundhouse, she knocked the weapons out of their hands. Lisa grabbed the heads of the two thugs and smashed them together. Groaning, they fell to the ground, unconscious. Lisa took several breaths before heading into the other practice rooms, where the girls were being attacked by the rubber-handed gunmen. Quickly, she bashed opened the doors, beat up the soldiers, and released the girls, who were weak and crying, their clothes torn, their hair in a big mess. Amy-Lynne sagged against Lisa's body. "You saved me..." Lisa smiled gently and set her down safely against a wall. "You'll be safe, I promise..." She turned to look for the guys. "Where are they?" "I saw them drag the guys into the music office," Lee-Ann Wilfred replied, pushing her reddish hair out of her eyes. "I don't think it's a good idea to..." Before Lee-Ann could finish, Lisa dashed right into the music office, yanked the door open, and a few seconds later, 10 or 20 thugs went sailing out the door and splatting themselves onto the ground. The guys ran out quickly, breathing heavily. Some of them looked as if they were in a huge catfight for hours, but luckily, no one was hurt. I guess the guys managed to take care of themselves okay. "Where did you learn to kick butt like that?" Josh Watson, an alto sax player, asked Lisa, who was pausing for a breath. "It teaches you not to get on my bad side," was Lisa's quick answer. She turned to the girls. "All of you, bring Mr. Newman and leave the school until I deal with Sailor Jade, here." "How can you possibly do that? You're strong, we know, but Sailor Jade's got magic power," Shawna protested. "We can't leave you here," Rob stated firmly. "We're a class. We stick together." "You don't know what you're getting yourselves..." Before Lisa could finish, there was a flash of light underneath her, blasting everyone else back. The class, except for Lisa, landed hard on the ground. Lisa was being tied up by some vines that rose from the ground. A brownish female monster also rose, a few feet away from Lisa. Sailor Jade appeared, laughing. "Lisa!" Amy-Lynne cried out. "What are you laughing at?" Lisa yelled at Sailor Jade. "You actually think that you can escape? Fat chance!" Sailor Jade motioned a hand, and a huge iron chain appeared, magically wrapping itself around the rest of the class, including an unconscious Mr. Newman. They were bound tight. There was no way they could escape. Another wave of the hand had the thugs up and ready again, their weapons cocked at the tied-up group. "Good work, Naturos," Sailor Jade commended. "Now, I'll have the pleasure of finishing you off. You would've been a worthy opponent." She gestured to one of the thugs. "Get all of the doors locked. I want to make sure no one would be able to get in while I annhilate this little pest." "Sure, mistress." THe thug closest to the Music Room door had it locked tight. Sailor Jade turned back to Lisa. A silver dagger appeared in her hand. She grinned evilly. "It's time to greet God, you little snoop." With a yell, Sailor Jade tossed the dagger forward, aimed right for Lisa's heart. "No!" Luna leapt across the air, in the path of the dagger. Using her agile paws, she grabbed it and did a magnificent backflip, landing gracefully. The dagger was between her teeth. "You ugly little feline!" Sailor Jade tried blasting at Luna, who was sticking her tongue out at her, but Luna managed to get away. "Luna? From Sailor Moon?" Amy-Lynne wondered out loud. "This is getting too weird!" John Kudrow commented. "Now how are we going to get out of here?" There was a shimmer of light near the piano in the Music Room. Lisa turned her head to see her younger sister, Sarah, appear beside it, with Artemis on the top of the piano. "Sarah!" Lisa exclaimed. "We're here to help you!" Sarah said. She extended her henshin wand forward, and many gold stars came twirling at Naturos. She was blinded by their light and was bashed into a corner. The stars also freed Lisa from her vines, and the class from their chains. Sailor Jade was furious. "Thugs, get going! Kill them, kill them all!" "Right!" The thugs formed a long wall in front of the class, who formed another wall. It looked like a huge showdown of some type. "You're going to pay for trying to kill us, Sailor Jade!" Lisa yelled. "And for trying to beat us up!" John added. "And for trying to rape us, you slimy perverts!" Tammy Morris shouted. The thugs silently raised their weapons. "Uh-oh," Cory said with a gulp. "Duck!" A huge volley of fire ensued. The class ducked quickly, and it ended up bashing the walls instead. "We need to stop those guys," Sarah said firmly. "Lisa and I will handle Sailor Jade and Naturos. THe rest of you, find a way to get past those thugs and get Mr. Newman out of here. Understand? Don't worry about us; we'll be fine." The class looked at each other reluctantly, but agreed. When the volley of fire stopped, they ran to grab their instruments, in hopes that they'll be some help. Lisa and Sarah stood tall and firm. Lisa noticed that her henshin wand was glowing, meaning that it was time for the sailor scouts. "Ready?" Lisa asked Sarah. Sarah nodded. "Jupiter Star Power!" Her fingernails green, Lisa quickly wielded many lightning strands, which wrapped around her to form her uniform. She posed behind a purple background with green four emitting lightning bolts. "Venus Star Power!" Sarah's fingernails turned orange, and with a ribbon of stars, transformed into Sailor Venus, posing behind her symbol and a royal-blue background. The room was thrown into a chaos. The clarinet section was busy smashing the thugs over the head with their instruments. The trombone players took a position, sandwiching a thug with a gun. Shawn smiled at Don. "Let's play for him, shall we?" The thug was confused. "What the heck..." "Now!" Shawn and Don stuck out their trombone slides, one hitting the guy in the butt, the other in the crotch. The thug let out a squeal in pain, and slumped to the ground. "Take this!" Ryan Harmon grabbed his tuba and stuck the bell of it into one guy's head. He then shoved him across the room, where he collapsed under a pile of chairs which fell on him. Shawna and Amy-Lynne were stuck between a ring of thugs. Looking at each other, they smiled. Putting their instruments to their lips, they played a high B flat, the highest note the flute can produce, at their loudest, creating a horrible shriek. The thugs were at their knees, crying in pain, and the two girls hightailed it out of there, ready to call the police. Crash, smash! More thugs came down as the clarinet, alto, tenor and baritone saxes smashed their instruments downward. They were the next to run. Cory grabbed the timpani drums and sent them rolling, bringing down 10 more thugs in the process. Rob was having fun smashing the guy's heads and ears with the cymbals. They were the last to leave the room. "Give up, Naturos, Sailor Jade, your thugs are down, now!" Sailor Venus yelled, tossing her black hair over her shoulder. "Oh, really?" Naturos and Sailor Jade sent many blasts of energy at the two sailor scouts. "These guys are beginning to annoy me!" Sailor Venus raised her index finger to the sky. "Venus Crescent Beam....Smash!" A massive beam of gold energy ricocheted off the gong, off a mirror and into Sailor Jade's crotch. Screaming, she fell to the ground. Sailor Jupiter crossed her arms to form an X. "In the name of Jupiter, I call upon the forces of nature to banish this vine queen!" An antenna raised itself into the air, where a bolt of lightning struck it. "Jupiter Thunder....Crash!" A blast of lightning electrified Naturos, who started screaming in pain. "Venus Crescent Beam Smash!" The same gold beam struck Naturos' head, sending hair and brains onto the floor, melting into a black ooze. The lightning disentigrated the rest of Naturos' body. Sailor Jupiter turned to Sailor Jade, who was holding her crotch in pain. "So, it's your turn!" "Maybe some other time. I'll be back!" With that, Sailor Jade disappeared. Sailor Venus wiped her brow. "That was exhausting!" Artemis and Luna approached them both. "You were marvelous, girls," Luna praised. "You will be magnificent sailor scouts for the future." "We're glad to serve you, Luna," Sailor Venus said seriously. "And the Moon Princess," Sailor Jupiter added with a smile. "Now, we need 3 more scouts, before our team is complete. Their energy potentials are growing, so they will be revealing themselves soon," Luna said. "We need to be there to protect them," Artemis added. "They're important, just as you guys are." "Now, what are we going to do with these guys?" Sailor Jupiter asked Sailor Venus. Sailor Venus smiled. "Let's get them tied up, now shall we?" She raised her arms into the air and brought them down hard, sending a blast of energy upward, lifting her hair as well. A gold chain of hearts appeared. "Venus Love Chain...Encircle!" Sailor Venus sent her chain lashing outwards, and it wrapped around half of the thugs who didn't escape. "Not so fast!" Sailor Jupiter yelled at the remaining thugs. There was a point of lightning on her finger, and she drew a net. "Jupiter Lightning Net Tangle!" She tossed the lightning net forward, and it caught the rest of them. Sailor Jupiter tugged hard to close the net and leave them hanging on a hook above her. "That should keep them from getting away for awhile," Sailor Venus said with a laugh. There was someone knocking on the door. The two sailors gasped. One of the policemen managed to kick the door open. They swarmed in like an invading army, and found the thugs tied up. However, the sailor scouts had already left. "Funny, I thought I saw two girls in miniskirts in that room," one policemen said to another. "Don't be silly. You've been reading too many Playboy magazines. Let's round these hoolagans up." With that, the policemen towed the protesting thugs away. After the policemen had left with the thugs, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus returned. The music room was a mess. The two girls looked at each other and raised their henshin wands. A flash of orange and green light filled the room. The class and Mr. Newman returned, to find Lisa sitting serenely on the one of the chairs, holding her flute in her hands. They were surprised to see the room so clean and neat. The instruments of the others were undamaged and were left where they should be. "Hi, you guys! Thought when you were going to get here," Lisa teased. Mr. Newman shrugged. "We were wondering where you've been, Lisa." He looked at the class. "Do you guys know anything of what happened? I was out most of the time." Lisa looked pleadingly at the class, who knew who she really was. Amy-Lynne cleared her throat. "Lisa was with us the whole time, but she went back to check if those guys were gone, so that's why she's here," Amy-Lynne said quickly. "Right, guys?" THe group nodded. "Right." Mr. Newman shook his head. "Maybe I'll never know. Well, anyway, the class was supposed to be finished, but I want to hear your playing tests. After you finish, you can leave." He smiled at Lisa. "Why don't you play first?" Lisa gulped. "Yeah, okay. What piece do you want me to play?" "Hmmmmm....how about Chesapeake?" Mr. Newman asked. "Start from where you come in as the melody." Lisa took a deep breath. "Okay, here goes nothing." She raised her flute to her lips, and played her first note, which was a low C. She was surprised to see it come out so perfectly. Gaining confidence, Lisa continued onward, being careful of breathing and phrasing. The class was stunned. This wasn't the Lisa they knew. Mr. Newman was so entranced by her playing that he let her play the whole piece. Lisa was completely out of breath when she finished. The class was silent. "Great playing, Lisa!" Thomas called from his position in the second row. The class applauded, Lisa blushing at the show of support and respect. "Lisa, that was beautifully played. You get a 9 out of 10," Mr. Newman said with a smile. "Thanks. Look, I'm really sorry about what happened yesterday. I was out of line," Lisa said slowly, keeping her head down. "Hey, it's okay, Lisa. We understand," Rob replied. "Besides, we've been awfully mean, too," Cory added. "I hope you'll accept our apology as well." Lisa smiled softly. "Sure. I don't hold grudges, anyway." "So, let's get going and put this whole matter behind us. It looks like that incident with the gang brought us closer together, as a class," Mr. Newman stated. He looked at Lisa. "Go home and get some rest. You look beat." Lisa sighed. He was right. She really was tired. Saying a quick goodbye, she left the classroom. 'Wow, things sure turn around fast,' Lisa thought, surprised. 'Back there, I really had control of the music, like I do when I play piano.'(Something I forgot to mention, Lisa Starr is a Grade 10 pianist, which was the instrument she was good with in the first place.) 'I guess it takes a little care and determination to get things done right.' Lisa smiled to herself. 'It sure worked for me. It sure did.'
